Dr M on special mission

(The Star) – Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is on a special mission to restore the people’s confidence in Barisan Nasional.

He will campaign in Bukit Gantang and Bukit Selambau on Monday to woo the fence-sitters.

This will be the first time the former prime minister is campaigning for Barisan in any by-election after his retirement six years ago.

Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said his father would drive home the message about the importance of political stability and unity to meet the current economic challenges.

He called on the public to come in droves to listen to Dr Mahathir’s speech at 5.30pm at the IKM field here on Monday.

“We hope the fence-sitters will regain confidence in Barisan and translate their support into votes.”

Mukhriz said it was time the people reject the politics of deception the Opposition spread.

At another function at Tasek Apong in Taman Pahlawan yesterday, Mukhriz said he was confident that new Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would follow the good example set by his father Tun Abdul Razak, the second Prime Minister.
