Gathering at auction ‘illegal’

(NST) IPOH: Police have classified Sunday's public auction of marble fragments from the so-called democracy plaque an illegal gathering.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Azisman Alias said policemen sent to observe the event lodged a report themselves, saying that about 200 people attended the auction when no permit was granted to hold a public gathering.

"We have opened a file under illegal gathering. We will identify the person who organised it," he said, adding that no one had sought a permit for the event.
