The 68th muzakarah of the National Fatwa Committee for Islamic Religious Affairs on April 12, 2005 discussed the Guidelines For Muslims Celebrating Religious Festivals Of Non-Muslims. The muzakarah has decided that:
In determining the non-Muslim celebrations that can be attended by Muslims, several main criteria should serve as guidelines so as not to contradict the teachings of Islam. The criteria are as follows:
1. The event is not accompanied by ceremonies that are against the Islamic faith (aqidah).The meaning of “against the Islamic faith (aqidah)” is a thing, act, word or situation which if conducted will lead to tarnishing the faith (aqidah) of Muslims.
For example:
- to include religious symbols such as the cross, installing lights, candles, Christmas tree and so forth;
- to sing religious songs;
- to put any religious markings on the forehead, or other markings onto parts of the body;
- to deliver speech or gestures in the form of a praise to the non-Muslim religion;
- to bow or conduct acts of honour to the religious ceremony of non-Muslims.
For example:
- Wearing red costumes like Santa Claus or other garments that reflect religion;
- Serving intoxicating food or beverages and the likes;
- Having sounds or ornaments like church bells, Christmas tree, temple or breaking of coconuts;
- Having ceremonies with elements of gaming, worship, cult, superstitions and the likes.
- Mixing freely without any limit or manners;
- Wearing conspicuous clothing;
- Singing songs that contain lyrics of obscenity and worship;
- Organising programmes such as beauty pageants, cock fighting and such.
- Speeches or songs in the form of non-Muslim religious propaganda;
- Speeches that insult the Muslims;
- Speeches that insult Islam;
- Presentations with the aim to ridicule the religious belief of Muslims.

If you really have faith, you will not be affected by the practices of others if you are standing the midst of those practising other faiths.
Only those of weak faith will be worried of the effects of attending festivals or religious ceremonies of others.
All human beings have the basic individual right to believe in whatever they want and practice what they want as long as these practices do not infringe on the rights on another.

This fatwa shows how it emphasise bias attitude toward the Christian Community...Firstly if a born muslim grew up aith the tradition and influence of Islam he/she has no need of celebrating a non-muslim religious festival as stated..He/She would not find the ways and mannerisms of another religious festival to hard to resist..
The thing to remember is the case of converts not the ones who convert to gain on bumiputra status or priviliges or where their children will take on their mother's race if the father isn't malay and the mother is..
These converts who value and respect their life before conversion with their families and friends will still be apart of their families and their life going-ons..So where is the sin and why the imposition? Why would a muslim impose on a non-muslim their do's and dont's of Islam.? Why would the life and mannerisms of non-muslim be offending to a muslim? Where does it say that it is offending in the teachings apart from describing what a muslim should not do and follow.So its the muslim who should read up on their religion and naturally know what they can and cannot do and stay away politely and not be influence by what isn't Islamic..So when a muslim does not understand to drwa the line why would the authorities jump to think that the way of life of non-muslims are offending and threathening to muslims..Are muslims so weak that they are easily influenced? Are muslims so clueless of how to be muslim?
Just lets say the mannerisms of non-muslims seems more refreshing,colourful,not rigid and easy going and that could be the reasons why muslims tend to find themselves wanting to be someone else..
Candles..for GOD's sake where does it say that Candles are specifically a Christian symbol??? Candles where used to light up in the dark before the invention of electricity..So what if we have a black -out and using candles is haram?? or if a muslim is at a Christian home and someone lights the candle when it is a black-out,so the christian has offended the nmuslim..
The malls have many celebrational decor etc during the occassions..You can find Malays taking photographs and so now because they did,the non-muslim celebrational decor has influenced and entice a muslim so therefore offending and hence to be banned in the future with more guidelines..! Why not thell the muslim to not take the photographs or put up lights to decorate their house during Ramadhan..?
It always begins with the muslim doing what is out of Islam but it ends up the thing they did is because the lifes and mannerisms of non-muslims has caused what is offending to Islam..!! In the end the restriction is imposed on non-muslims to be sensitive to muslims and in short non-muslims should help muslims not be weak,tempted and influenced so therefore non-muslims should stop living their liefes with their traditins and cultures and religious beliefs..The blame is back on the non-muslims and that itself isn't Islamic..
I once saw a Christmas tree with muslims children name tags for shoppers to buy gifts for these orphans..Now did a Christian asked for that to happen? So where gift sharing was mainly between Christian families and when others use the idea,do Christiand then offen muslims or break any law?
There are many more examples and really if the malay muslims or muslim show claim that non-muslims show them disrespect just cause a non-muslims way of life isn't Islamic then this Country does not accept other races and religions...! This Country is in contradicting of their policies and the country's official image..
So where my daughter's pre-school is celebrating Chinese New Year next week before the holiday,the students are asked to come in Chinese traditional wear or anything red..So what happens to the muslim children? Sorry outfit bought and my little muslim daughter will wear it,enjoy the celebration,been thought to sing ' Kong Si Kong Si Nee Yah '..and she will attend re-union dinner with her ' mama ' and all her daddy's Chinese side of the family...and she has nore insight and kindness..Oh yah she just had Christmas with both Daddy and Mummy's families and friends...tree,lights,fruit cake roast turkey,candy cane,gifts,santa's hat,carolsetc etc..even in pre-school Christmas party..And GOD knows I am doing a good job as a muslim convert and mummy...!

JAKIM are telling the Muslims to move back and stay among them self, socialised only with other Muslim, maybe even the Shiites is a no, no, as it has been banned.
JAKIM fear of crucifixes (cross) was understandable, but lighting, candles, Christmas tree and Christmas decoration, that’s sickening.
JAKIM is trying to lead the Muslim back into the Stone Age, mentally into caves and locked them there.
Islam may be good but some of those practicing Islam especially those from JAKIM are definitely different cattle of fish, they tarnish all good that Islam stood up for. A bunch of morons.

But, in the case of non-muslims they first have to deal with the religious zealots, make sure they do not step on any sensitive ulamas toes, before they can even think about what needs to be done next at the 'bread and butter level'.

Guidelines for Muslims Celebrating Religious Festivals of Non-Muslims..
The headlines is not only wrong but contradicting to its context..First Christmas/Easter is not a religious festival is is a religious belief not a festival..The manner of Christmas tree,carols,santa suits is a western manner to enhance the occassion not a tradition practised in the teachings of the Bible..!
If there is need for anything to be thought of as non-Islamic for the Muslims then the guidline would be for the muslims to saty away from these events or the premises.It would not be for the non-muslims to cater to suit for the muslims..So the context should be to state do's & don'ts as advise to the muslims and not the non-muslims..
As such list below shows its ok for the muslims to do as you wish but a non-muslim are now restricted in their traditions and manners of life when a muslim is in a non-muslim's presence.
Why the giving of duit raya during Ramadhan..following a Chinese New Year custom.?
Why place flower garlands around Malay Muslim ministers when they attend MIC functions?
Why attend open houses during religious and festivals when the houses of the ones having the open houses has religious artefacts and religious music or occassion musin not Islamic played?
Why go on tour to other countries and enter spots that are un-Islamic for example The Vatican City?
Why eat non-malay food or even open business using recipes from authentic non-malay food and cuisine?
Why do malays have weddings that are have hindu customs?
Why practise the sending of celebrations cards like Birthday,Weddings,Anniversary,Valentines etc when it is a western culture?
Why get married in a veil and white gown?
Why dress in brands suits and drive luxury foreign cars when the makers and owners are not muslims and the money paid for these amenities goes to the hands of non-mulsims who live lifes that is not in accordance to Islam?
I am a muslim convert,with many different religions observed by familes,extended families and friends. Do they then have to spring clean and remove anything that isn't Islaminc when I visit them? Or probably they will shut the door on me now with another new fatwa?
By the way I will always never shed my past as it is from my non-malay non-muslim parents that I am born..I will respect that part of my life and bring it along to my present and hence future..As such no fatwa that is not the understanding of what GOD has destined for HIS world be in my way.Live the life as a muslim by The Quran and understand the realites of the World..The non-muslims are also children of GOD and they to have a right to not be restricted or offended just because others believe they don't have in them to accept..!

To give becomes "Haram!" Not to give, they'll say "Kedukut!" However, my Muslim relatives got no issue with me although my Muslim neighbours and/or friends have certainly changed!
Maybe they should apply for a Licence from JAKIM before they visit me???

This is a guideline for Muslims. Let's respect that fact first. It does not apply to the non-muslims.
After saying that, JAKIM should have consulted the non-muslims on facts of other religion before buta-buta come up with rules and regulations that is not reflecting facts. (Santa Claus? Christmas Trees?)
But the sad thing of this whole guidelines is it seems to imply that non-muslims are prone to be engaged in imoral activities (drinking, cock fighting,Singing songs that contain lyrics of obscenity and worship). Now that is being hollier then though attitude that i can't accept.
Is JAKIM trying to tell non-muslim's religion promotes negative values? This is something that some form of protest need to be made!!!!
So Hindus, Christians, Buddisht and what not organisations, when are you going to protest? Or just going to keep quiet because you want to show the other cheek? Keep doing it, and you may not have a cheek soon to show!!!!
p.s.
Wonder the arabic tourist that is flocking to batu caves has been educated on this religious requirements? It is time Malaysians got to teach them

"Speeches or songs in the form of non-Muslim religious propaganda;" - no respect at all to use the worked "propaganda"
So non Muslim religious people celebrate their religious festivals with things like "cock fighting"?

Santa Claus is not a religeon.... and Christmas Trees are not religeous items....
What the fcuk !!! fcuk !!!! fcuk!!!!!!
My fellow muslim friends have spent many a Christmas at my home where my mum cooked up all the food that we all used to eat and not one of them had any problems... and the same when we visit them during Hari Raya or any other weekend when our families get together.
Now these religeous fanatics and fcukheads in the gomen of BN are screwing up unity and cohesion that has been around ...... and these bigots... let them be known that the time will come like Tunisia.. they will be out on the streets with their asses hanging....

The supreme universal creator cannot be that dumb about how his creation should get along. What about having one that would allow the banning of all infidel made imports ,made with the sweat of the infidels ;for example ,life supporting medical equipment. What about telling Indonesia ,not to accept any infidel help during any natural disaster like the Tsunami that hit Acheh ,or the recent floods in Pakistan when infidel forces went to rescue. You remove the infidel from your equation you are as good as going backward to the 7th century . . The infidel Russian rocket did not have the barriers and the Malaysian astronaut booked at Malaysian taxpayer expense had a successful flight and became the first Malaysian to make the journey. While in space did he breathe the oxygen coming from the same infidel storage source. Anyway ,the irony is the Russian Rocket was manufactured by people who do not believe in God. They are a communists nation ? Hello it is the 21st century .It is now known that the Earth circles the Sun and Satan does not live in your nostril
