It will be a fatal mistake if opposition politicians from the peninsula ride roughshod over the sensitivities of the people of Sabah. It is well known that the land below the wind (now the land of illegals) has long been seething with anger at the federal masters. Rich in natural resources, bigger than the peninsula, they should be enjoying the fruits of their natural wealth and holding the future in their hands. Instead, fate was unkind to them and today they live under the yoke of “alien” rule.
For a brief spell, they had power but because of the machination of a devious dominant peninsular party, they lost their high seat. Though their politically emasculated Huguan Siou (paramount leader) now sits at the same table with the hated “conquerors”, life there does not seem to change for the better. In PKR the people have found another promising platform to advance their cause. The party is open to all races and in Sabah it has made quite an impact. Its standard-bearer is a fighter for justice and fair play though his future is nebulous. By forging a link with one of the favourite sons of Sabah, the way ahead looks clear and bright. The partnership seems solid and PKR appears to have hit off well with the crowd. But to their dismay, PKR is behaving more like its peninsular foe. It wanted to impose its own brand of leadership on its partners. In short, it wanted peninsular politicians to run the show in Sabah. It met with stiff opposition.
Though the error was rectified with Sabah's favourite son in control of his state, the ceasefire did not last long. It was bound to happen: some disgruntled members got together to form a breakway party and fight their own battle. They nearly got away with it if not for the peace deal reached with PKR. But dirty politics intervened. Imperiously, PKR came down hard on the rebels with the recommendation that they be suspended. It acted tough and rough. The damage was done and another blunder committed. PKR had acted in a manner that reminds its Sabah brothers of the treacherous peninsular politics.
Even if the recommended suspension is not acted upon, the undercurrent of distrust will persist. The dissidents have made their point and Sabahans, inside and outside the political arena, have taken note of the haughty yet fragile opposition party from the peninsula. If the rebels are shown the door in a display of extreme petulance, it would not sound the death knell for Sabahans. It would instead strengthen their resolve. If the PKR supremo in a magnanimous gesture brings them back to the fold, it would do nothing to calm the troubled waters. Whichever way the story is played out, the stark reality is that Sabahans, irrespective of their political leanings, simply do not want peninsular leaders talking down to them.

I agree with Batsman,. This writer seems appear to mix up PR with the ruling parties.
PR has not "ride roughshod" - it is the BeEnd partie sthat you guys have been supporting for many years.
Some adjustements maybe, re late Sabah PKR and central command.
What do you expect PKR central command to do? Let the 8 months sitting on his bum & his groupie to sit it out till the next GE? The negatives Of jeff K have been highligted. If we have continue, he is more likely lead his party and Sabahan to the abattoir that has all the beEnd names all over it. Sabah seats could decide who rule Fedral after the next GE. We must not leave to chance that Sabah will do well with the indiffrences that Jeff K had shown before. The future - we yet to see.
You get Sabah to perform well, like the way Sarawak PR parties are doing, striking the fears into the hearts of Taib & BeEnd, you will NOT attract many, if any, criticisms. Jeff K and his party does not have a mortgage over Sabah. He is not indispensable. A reformed active jeff K and his team, whatever that is left, is best for Sabah and the nation , though it is yet proven.
There are many issues that I can say on your articles but I will pick the last paragraph to say my piece in brackets
Sabah does not need to hold PKR hands to walk down the corridors of power when the current puppets are thrown out of office.
(No you will need PKR/PR hands to walk the corridors as this is a federated states of Malaysia, whether you like it or not. Decisions make must be to the nation interest, include Sabah but it wont be for Sabah interest alone. however, I expect Sabah to do much better under PR govenrment, just as I expect all other states as well. It is not about Sabah only issue.)
The destiny of the state lies in its own hand. Peninsular style of politics is not its cup of tea. Sabah is not a wild cowboy country that must be tamed by the “western” gunslingers.
( When you state cowboy cavalier attitude, you must qualify that is BeEnd antics re Hulu Selangor/Sibu buy-election , hardly an atttude associated with PR parties. Every state in malaysia are proud and say the same as you do - "the destiny of the state lies in its own hand" This goes without saying the bleeding obvious. But if you are dreaming that you want to go the direction of an autonomous or secession state, I say, wake up from your dream , as it is NOT going to happen because the constiutions of malaysia say so.)
There are sensible, intelligent, upright local-born leaders who can lead the state to fairer climes, calmer seas, clearer future.
(For poltical reasons, the leaders will be mix that is acceptable to Sabah & PR, under a PR government, with the FINAL perogative belonging to PR head comnand centres, NOT Sabah centre or any other states centres, whetehr you like it or not)
Let Sabah be Sabah
(hey, every state would say the same. Would the Perakian say Let Perak be Sabah? They would be "lynched the seconds they say that in a Perak congregation.
Talking up Sabah is easy. Walking the talk is the hard part. The Sabah walk was a failure since Jan 10 under Jeff K/PKR stewardship, in the PKR side of the fence. Sabah has to walk the talk alot more aggressive as Sabah/Sarawak and the malay heartlands are deem to be critical to overcome the next final BeEnd hurdle.
Give PR a chance to govern. Sabahan and all other rakyat will enjoy the fruits of good governance. But first, those PR work on the ground and at the top leadership must do their work. That include Sabah PR leadership and grassroots. No more F -ing around.
Trahs ISA - that hurt Sabah and all patriots.

It will be a fatal mistake if opposition politicians from the peninsula ride roughshod over the sensitivities of the people of Sabah.
For example it confuses completely the people of Sabah with the internal politics of a political party. Apparently opposition parties are confused with ruling parties and assigned with the power to ride rough shod over the people of Sabah. Opposition parties are called opposition parties precisely because they don't have governmental power yet.
This utter confusion is promoted into the very fabric of society in Sabah.

Sabah of course belongs to them but currently BN owns Sabah, at least for now. PR must now work harder with the same aspiration of the Sabah people and component parties.

I do believe Jeff K is just using PR to try win a seat and jump to whichever party which will benefit him the most at a latter stage. I do not think Pakatan Rakyat will lose out without him in the party.
Only reason he is where he is in PKR needed someone high profile and people recognised him.
Pakatan Rakyat trusting SAPP shows exactly how much Pakatan Rakyat do not understand the political landscape of Sabah. SAPP is BN, their leaders were all involved with corrupt practice and there is a reason why none of them got prosecuted by anti corruption. They are applying the tactics in art of war by placing themselves in the same group as their enemies.
One thing Pakatan Rakyat need to do fast is to start grooming a new bunch of leaders in Sabah. Give them a platform through youtube / Pakatan website to present their ideas about how Sabah should be govern.
Give them a voice, put their face out there so that Sabahan can know them better. They do not need to be anyone famous or rich. They need to be someone who is educated and able to think themselves. Someone who is willing to sacrifice for the betterment of the state.
Sabah need fresh leaders, younger generation who are vocal and not afraid to fight for the right of Sabah.
That is the only way Pakatan Rakyat can win Sabahan support. Not by filling in a new bottle with the same susu busuk.
That is my thought about how Pakatan should approach Sabah. I am 100% against BN, I do not however support the current version of Pakatan Rakyat in Sabah.
