Malaysians lament about the racism, religious intolerance, persecution and discrimination that prevail in Malaysia. Thus far, over the last few months, all we are hearing are grumbling, lamenting, bitching, whining, complaining, and whatnot. Everyone has ideas on what is wrong. No one has suggested how to put it right. Well, in that case, I am forced to take matters into my own hands and propose the solution.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
1. Encourage inter-race marriages
a) The government should give a one-off marriage grant and interest free loan to all those who marry outside their race. (Later, say after 20 years or so, ban same-race marriages altogether by passing a law in Parliament to make it illegal to marry someone of your own race).
b) Places in schools, colleges and universities should be reserved for children from mixed marriages. Introduce, say, a 30% quota. (This quota can be increased every five years).
c) If all being equal, those of mixed marriages should be given first priority for jobs. (Later, say after 20 years or so, pass a law where at least 30% of employees must be from mixed marriages).
d) Currently, Malaysia has two classes of citizens -- Bumiputeras (first class) and non-Bumiputeras (second class). Create another first class, say mixed or campuran class, and let Bumiputeras be second-class and non-Bumiputeras third-class. (Basically, the mixed class will replace the Umnoputera class, who are higher than the Bumiputera class, and which will now be abolished).
e) Abolish the need for non-Muslims to convert to Islam before they can get married to a Muslim partner. Also, children of mixed marriages must not be forced to follow the religion of their father. Allow them to grow up as freethinkers until they reach the age of 21 (the age when they are allowed to vote) and let them choose what religion they want to follow -- or become an atheist if they wish. Religious education for children must be banned and anyone below 21 must not be made to go to the mosque, church or temple.
2. Introduce a single language, identity and culture
a) Vernacular schools and mother-tongue education should be banned. Have only one type of school -- national schools that teach in the National Language.
b) All signboards, books and whatnot that are not in the National Language should be banned. Allow only those in the National Language.
c) Allow only Malaysian names on birth certificates. Names that reflect a Malay, Chinese, Indian or native identity must be banned. (The government will come out with a list of approved Malaysian names).
d) Ban all cultural activities. No dances, costumes, festivals, celebrations, holidays, etc., that reflect a Malay, Chinese, Indian or native identity must be allowed. Only Malaysian festivals and culture should be allowed and the Cabinet will decide what this new Malaysian culture/identity will look like. Probably the American culture can be adopted as the new Malaysian culture since it does not reflect Malay, Chinese, Indian or native culture.
Once the above is implemented, by the next generation, say in 20 years time or so, racism, religious intolerance, persecution and discrimination will end and by the third generation there will no longer be any Malays, Chinese, Indians or natives in Malaysia.
The bottom line is, we shall all sacrifice to ensure that after some time we shall become a Malaysia of Malaysians and no longer a Malaysia of Malays, Chinese, Indians and natives. And this plan of action is better than just grumbling, lamenting, bitching, whining, complaining, and whatnot, but doing nothing about it other than blaming ‘the other side’ for all our troubles.

Not a bad idea at all. Getting rid of bumiputra priviledges is difficult. So is getting rid of vernacular schools. Banning cultural activities just sound absurd. Taking away the holidays for these festivals will probably go a long way to dampening the importance of these days, as people need to work or go to school like normal. The single national language will be spoken more when there is only one type of school, where everyone attends. If this national language can be English, since English needs to be learnt anyway nowadays whether we like it or not, even better. Not that I have much against Malay language, but why the need for so many languages. Make Malay/Chinese/Tamil optional if students really want to learn. Might as well go international when it comes to language, not national. It will integrate us better with the rest of the world as well.

these belong to the private realm and people should be free to make their own decisions - free to marry whoever they choose, free to pray to whoever they choose.
and there should be no necessity for declaring what our race is!
what is important is our nationality - Malaysian - citizen of a country diverse in cultures and peoples yet harmoniously living with each other, united in supporting a clean fair government that is concerned in excellence in all of the rakyat that we can stand tall, toe to toe, with the best of the world

Seriously, both will be meet with opposition from both sides even though this is probably from someone who is frustrated. Malaysian is neither race nor religion. Thus, selling it will be actually quite foolish. We need Malaysian to be patriotic about Malaysia not tie it to race and religion. I am ethnic Chinese Christian who is proud to be both and don't care about Malaysian being a race. However, if you ask me about being Malaysian I am proud but will give it up for a country that treat me equally, good education, Police that provide actual security and responsible government. So, I need a new government that will give me reason to come back to Malaysia. The start will be a new government after PRU-13.

What is truly needed is a Comprehensive Education System----the type that the British left behind. Not the kinds you find in Canland. The kinds that are funded and manipulated by the despots for their own agendas!!.
An Education policy of choices----- A policy that can make one" think"!!------ a POLICY WHERE LEADERS work to improve all aspects of the quality of education and ensuring excellence of all so that recognized and measurable learning outcomes are achieved by all, especially in literacy, essential life and of thought.
To teach that the color of blood is just plain RED and not purple or black or blue. That it is the requisite to every heartbeat for the soul of the Nation!!!----------------- Can we say Malaysia is poor and that it cannot implement it???? when they can shell out Billions to uphold Satan's imperatives in an Institution called BTN????
So what do we do ??---- Since we have morons and idiots who indoctrinate hatred from the holes in the dark corridors of power!!!------- we get rid of them from the terrain--- never to allow them a position to stand tall ever for all eternity!!!

Mix culture is an unique advantage, not many countries are given this advantage, its obvious that our government failed to make use of this goldmine cum conveniency, otherwise, we do not need to kick them out. Look, malaysia is in the process of searching its identity, mixed culture is part of the identity.
I spend my childhood in Damansara Utama, i used to have many friends during that time, all from different races, we played and mixed around all the time except sleeping and school, when we play football, we aim the same goal post, we dont bother about skin colour, i do not know what language we used to communicate, its rojak, somehow we can understand each other, things change after primary school, but im sure that we loved each other, used to be.
What im trying to say is, its all about perception, and it must be taught since early, i admit my parents are ass holes they kept telling me that the three races are different, i believe all the parents of MT readers behave the same way. So from now on, teach your children to love others, all races.
And the economy is also very important,
when we starve, we love nobody, not even our own race, Malaysians cant be poor, if we have a good government.
Yes, the first step, change our leaders, talk bout others later.

if they want to marry, let them do it.

most importantly - remove religion from constitution/government.
banish all state/federal governmental religious services like jais etc.

After reading trough it, I can't help being suspicious of your intention. Its a satirical piece to invoke the noise of immaturity of some Malaysians. This reminds me of a story about a cat and the mice in a house. The mice were fed up of the cat silently coming up behind them and catch them unaware. Then one smart mouse suggest that they put a bell on the cat's neck. But then they look at each other and wonder who is going to do it.
You see , most know what is good for Malaysia . And good that many Malays are aware too. Why Malays, one may ask. For the truth is Malays are the majority and the leaders refusing to accept changes are Malays. So its time that the Malays go up to the leaders in Umno and PAS and first educate them . If they can't understand then force them to change or force them out of Malaysia.
But then like the mice who is going up to the cat and tie the bell around its neck?

Abolish NEP, so there is no bumi and non-bumi status and everyone have equal rights.
Have human rights extended to muslims to allow them the choice of their religion.
The rest will take care of itself, no need to promote inter-racial marriages because everyone when everyone are treated EQUAL mixed marriages will automatically follow. Please don't create some more super-breeds, we have enough of them.No need to abolish non-national schools because they are not the problem just the symtoms, don't simply give wrong diagnosis.
Look at Thais they consider themselves Thais first then their race because of correct govt policies.

Therefore this one such attributed nation can only be made possible only by the Rakat, to free themselves from the politics and corrupted system that have robbed its people of freedom to its citizen that encompasses every individual protected rights in the constitution.
Then and now, if only BN had done so and the answer is NO(umNO) and Now if Pakatan Rakyat dares to be willing for the Nation sake and the grand finale is if the Rakyat, will the majority understand the need of this transformation for them to be willing to accept this challenge to change that free and reward themselves, a country that every individual is proud to be the next, a country they live, own and call home. ??? We are approaching GE-13, imagine you live on an island (peninsula) with large resources and no natural calamities. It was inhabited with a few literate inhabitants – majority were illiterate and it was govern by thieves, crooks. Some of the literate left for other places where they found they were welcomed. The remainder resilient ones now small in numbers have plans to take back the governing of the island back from the thieves/crooks so that the island is a bliss and heaven on earth where what it has to offer is shared and enjoyed by all and every single inhabitant.
BN is no good – alternative to BN will be better. Alternative to BN must be voted in and given a chance. This is not going to work with the illiterate. They don’t read or subscribe to MT. They are creatures of habit. For 54 years they have only known BN and when it comes to exercising their right, they have always gone by Word of mouth and at the BALLOT BOX (mother of all Democracies) they place their VALUABLE Vote (X) against the only symbol (BN) they know. Some are lucky for they get paid for it.
I am one who wants to take this peninsula taken back from the thieves/crooks. I have one vote and I am a MT reader and my 1 vote is not for BN for the taking. It is 1 vote. I have hundreds of relatives with hundreds of votes. I am constantly educating these illiterate/semi-illiterate brothers/sisters/cousins/brother-in-laws/sister-in-laws, uncles/aunts/granddads/grandmas/nephews/nieces among dozens other friends or casuals who I meet and make small talk that BN is evil. They must vote / use their precious vote to VOTE AGAINST BN. IF BN is VOTED OUT, then there is a small chance that is MALAY ASIA will once again be the TIGER of ASIA it is meant to be in the eyes of the world.
MT reader’s please stop bitching – FOCUS and work together. Let’s send BN (UMNO) to oblivion – gutter where it belongs. Gadaffi was dragged from a gutter/Sadaam was found in a hole.
Dictatorship's like Tunisia/Egypt/Libya have fallen because ordinary people have risen. Libya with force and arms. Lets get our fellow Malaysians use X instead of guns to send our Dictatorships to pasture.
Please stop bitching - work together - focus on getting rid of UMNO/MCA/MIC , the RACIST organistaions - EVIL - It is a CANCER that is eating away the Malaysian society and the Nation - Malaysia can be GREAT without this CANCEROUS bug - UMNO/MCA/MIC that is hell bent on killing our nation Mother Malaysia.

1. The Government must take the lead in this. Remove the need to put race on all official documents or registration.
2. Remove the need to state the Religion of a person in all official documents or registration.
3. Remove Islam as the official religion of the Country as this is a secular state it should not have any official religion.
4. Remove the need to for a non-muslim to convert to Islam before marrying a Muslim.
5. Remove the Bumiputera Categorisation of our citizens. All benefits and rights of all citizens must be implemented base on need and merits.
6. Introduce in our constitutions or laws anti-racist laws. These laws will then have to be implemented impartially like how the west have done so.
7. Stop the use of public funds to build any places of worship whether it be a mosque, Church, temple, synagogue or what not.
8. Stop all public funding of religious schools be they Islamic, christian or Buddhist or Hindu or others.
9. Promote unity amongst all races and all schools should have adequate facilities to teach Chinese, Tamil, Urdu, Thai, Tagalog and also Hindi. The reason for this is that our citizens have their origins from our neighboring countries who uses these languages. We must tap on this close proximity for the nations economic future.
10. All Quota systems must be abolished immediately. This is the root cause of racialism in Malaysia.
If these are implemented, in 10 - 20 years a truly Malaysian identity will slowly be developed with mutual respect for each other. A matured thinking society will emerge and we will be more dynamic than any of our neighbors.

America is a melting pot of many cultures but as each generation passes by we see the erosion of our ethnic culture and biased thinking against other races and religions. What we see now in our own kids are their shared thoughts and feelings in sympathy with current American generation that is not afraid of their own future. I can also envisage my children and the future generations fighting for a country that they believe alongside their Black, Hispanic, Asian or White friends in defending our country that has welcomed us as immigrant with comforting words like "Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she with silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!".
Due to lack of jobs and the economy, I see the ugly sentiments rearing up with the backlash against the illegal immigrants that are now being blamed for the many ills of our society here. All immigrants are the vital part in revitalizing the American economy with their entrepreneurial skills. If Malaysia cannot appreciate the vital contributions of its "pendatangs" or even citizens. it will always be at a disadvantage against even a small tiny country like Singapore.

The root to all evils ........ one is money ! Another is class or caste ! Then race started to creep in as another root to all evils ! The oldest root to all evils is actually " belief" and "religion" .
To solve our national ills we must firstly legally subdue all religions and beliefs from rearing their heads at all ! And that will specifically line up the "official" religion in to the fore-front to recede and lay dormant . No more proselytizing from any of these religious quarters or beliefs . All schools will not be allowed to conduct any religious class at all . Religion and belief will be exclusively a private family matter and every member within the family will be allowed access into the websites , and libraries to gain knowledge , including the freedom to read about other religions and beliefs . And NOBODY AT ALL , from birth till death need to be recorded by the REGISTRAR OR ANY AUTHORITY AT ALL of one's religion, belief or even as a free thinker .
Consequently , one's race will only be legally stated and recorded as " Malaysian" .
Inter-marriages will become a non-existent issue as everyone will be a "Malaysian" free of any pressure at all from all quarters upon one's choice to believe or not to believe in any religion at all !

Ban race based political parties.
Practise meritocracy.
Teach children to see beyond race, religion and culture in primary school.
Ban "our religion is superior than others" teachings.

Item e) is what I have always envisioned to what we would be able to proudly address as ourselves as Truly Malaysian and everything is therefore pro human rights in the constitution where every 'individual rights' are safeguarded in its own right, no one shall trample on other and not one be trampled upon by another whereby religion will be a personal right, one is free to choose to be in or leave, making this a choice of a very personal right to be respected in law. There will be no more a problem of a country where religion can supersede the political system of what is deemed to be of human rights and values.
Yes, in the next twenty years we will be a whole new generation that can declare ONE Nation that see a bountiful harvest of educated citizen when race and religion is no more a political tool when the system protects every individual citizen's rights.
If only this had been the stewardship of past captains, I for one would have been betrothed to by these nice ladies(yes they are more willing to marry me if I want to marry them therefore I say I would be betrothed to). No, not about popularity contest, even as today, a lot of Aminahs and Airas are still looking at me but unfortunately it is my personal choice that religion cannot therefore be a compulsion(to me, a personal choice) and they knew they cannot share their love interest even though they wish they can. Otherwise, we do not even have to be concerned with dirty politics if they had introduced this system of mixed marriages without boundary, umno and BN will always win the hearts of the people when individual rights come first, we by now would have been a strong government supported by the generations of people!

I suggest a modern day holocaust to drive off all non-Malays from Malaysia would be more direct, less idealistic and sounds a better solution. Like the good doctor said, do not treat the symptom, treat the cause. And the cause is, as we all know, is UMNO and Mahathir! They have already secretly proceeded with their 'silent' holocaust plan a long time ago to drive as much non-Malays as possible from Malaysia, whether qualified or unqualified on top of legalising the entry of illegal Muslim foreigners.
Our immediate solution? Drive UMNO and Mahathir out of Putrajaya and Petronas building first during the next GE and perhaps half nation's solutions would be found! The other fifty per cent of our racial problems would more or less fall in place over time, maybe even less time than the 20-years time to be taken from wholesale mix-marriages! Hahah, wouldn't it be nice if Malaysians quickly succeed in kicking out UMNO and Mahathir instead than to be left with the limited choice of a mix-marriage or eventually be chased out of their own country?
What say you, fellow Malaysians, do we want to give it a try under these strange and foreboding circumstances to chase UMNO and Mahathir out from their anti-national comfort zones first? If so, whatever the distractions, unite we must continue to do under the opposition forces or the positive NGOs to make even the seemingly unlikely happen, Surprise can strike twice in a row if the people remain determined and united in fighting for the noble Malaysian cause!
written by StChin, October 30, 2011 21:02:36
Correct me if I am wrong but yours is a satirical piece isn't it? You're half-serious as in, you are inviting / instigating us to offer solutions rather than the run-of-the-mill "Let's destroy (insert name/nickname)" comments.
Yet, at the same time your article highlights an extreme case of racism in practice. How would the Umnoputera, bumiputera, and non-bumis feel if there is this new super-hybrid race that is now going to take over all those goodies reserved for the Umno- and bumiputeras?
Surely it spotlights that we should abolish racist or "affirmative action" policies altogether and jolly well behave like Malaysians instead of being an ethnically-differentiated Malaysian.
I wish I can think of a better solution than yours (hare-brained as they may be)
In a multicultural country like ours, we are fighting against our very own human nature. Everyone has a streak of racist blood in him or her, like it or not. In any country or community, the majority will always act preferentially in favour of their own kind, regardless of whether they are Malay, Chinese, Indian, Filipino, Pakistani, or whatever.
What differentiates a racist from a non-racist is the individual's values - his culture, upbringing, education and so forth. The learned person recognises and rejects/suppresses this racist streak, and acts for the welfare of all. So, it is a measure of social intelligence (a form of Emotional Intelligence), maturity and education.
Perhaps then, a better solution is to improve the standard and objectives of education: to develop a mature-thinking nation. Perhaps, another solution is to enhance faith education - not about the do's and don'ts of one's actions, but to truly love and serve our Maker. If we truly follow such commandments, surely we will act accordingly.
As you so eloquently pointed out, Islam teaches great values that reject corruption, racism, forced proselytisation and many more. Other major world religions share similar values. Isn't it better then, that all the faithful can be more faithful? If we all do this, again we will not have this problem.
Why worry about hudud or whatever? If everyone abides by God's law, there is no one and nothing to punish.
Oops, I think my medication is wearing off. I'm coming back to reality...

Just like the New World Order...One World, One Government, One Religion, One Bolehland (not 1 Malaysia !)
You be the judge.
Shalom.

My sentiments exactly. If you could refer to my comments eons ago. I wrote something similar that we can never have unity in Malaysia unless there is inter marriages and we speak the same (common) language, Manglish, Singlish, Bahasa Pasar, whatever.
Doesn't seem that we have progressed far since my revelation. Huh....my heart bleeds even more when i hear it coming from you now! Shows the sorry state of my (our) country. I have multi racial and multi lingual family members and i came about this from practical and real life situations. Even among family members we have confrontations and conflicts what more a country. Malaysia is also one big family isn't it.
Start small and in your own famillies, then neighbours and work from there. It is not too late. Generations from now...we will, eventually, have a REAL Malaysian walking the streets of Malaysia. But will each and everyone here put aside their egos for this to happen? Don't hide behind race, language and especially, religion.
PS: Looks like another blood bath on MalaysiaToday again. Please, tolong, don't slaughter me my fellow commentators.

) I'm not sure about the schools. We should allow various languages to be taught in schools, including Kadazandusun and Dayak, in order for the policy to be accepted and go through.

Regardless lets just pretend that its a real proposed solution.
Although I agree that yes, eventually it will very well decrease issues on race, religion and discrimination, but at what cost? We will lose the very thing that makes Malaysia unique, cultural diversity.
what will happen to the rendang I always eat at my buddy's place during Hari Raya? What about the awesome chicken curry I always get during deepavali? Will it be replaced with a grotesque dish of meat, which can't decide whether it wants to be wet or dry? (I'm using food analogies, sorry. I'm hungry)
Anyway, Point being, I believe racial unity is much more worth it than racial abolishment, even though it is harder to achieve.
