With massage parlours galore, pubs and bars mushrooming all over the place, broken roads and 'dead' traffic lights, and restaurants taking over the parking lots so that cars need to park illegally and obstruct traffic, it makes one wonder how much these unelected Pakatan Rakyat local councilors are earning a month in ‘under-the-table’ money.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Today, Tunku Abdul Aziz wrote an article called ‘MPPJ enforcement officers cry foul’. This is what he said:

Local council enforcement officers in Petaling Jaya have told me that they are often stopped dead in their tracks in the course of carrying out their work by Pakatan Rakyat politicians. These loud-mouthed, arrogant and bullying lawmakers, or more correctly, lawbreakers, with their own personal political agenda give direct operational orders to enforcement officers who are answerable, in any case, to their career local government officers.

Enforcing municipal or city council laws in these circumstances takes on a bizarre tug of war aspect when politicians, often from the same party, descend on the scene issuing diametrically opposed instructions. Interfering to the extent of ordering enforcement officers to leave unlicensed food traders well alone for fear of losing their votes is considered, in their circle, as politically savvy and chic. No doubt all part of their ticket to Putrajaya.

The fact that this is blatant abuse of power, or not to put too fine a point on it, corruption, seems to escape them completely as they set about, single-mindedly, to develop popular ground support, for future parliamentary elections. They studiously look away from breaches of the rules and regulations of their own making, committed by MCA supporters who might, just might, change their political allegiance if they were allowed to continue to trade illegally. Why not help them to become “legit”? In this way MPPJ will earn some revenue.

Malaysians still don't get it.
The law is the law. Break the law, face the consequences. This is what Singapore and the developed world do.

Looks like Malaysians really deserve the crap from their politicians, irrespective of their stripes. Money is the god of so called educated Malaysians. Justice, abiding by the law and principles are just tools for most Malaysians to get their cash.

I'm puzzled. My favourite eating place in KL is Jalan Alor, whether it's up the top at the Chinese "special" dishes, in the middle where the good seafood restaurants are or down the end where the Thai places are. All the fotos above show nice clean establishments, with a bit of inconvenience to cars. Hell, satisfying my hunger comes before you parking your car! And anyway, Jalan Alor makes all those places look like heaven (but I still love the place)!

As for massage parlours, all those I tried out in Bukit Bintang were genuine above board establishments. Yes, I'm sure I could have found naughty places if I had wanted them. But why assume that all massage parlours are up to no good?

So I must be missing the point RPK was trying to make................

The word "sin" is perpetrated by 'ultra-holier than you' persons who use this word to make one feel guilty or feel shame. There is no such thing as "sin" - an act is either good or bad, ethical or corrupt, moral or immoral, healthy or unhealthy, dangerous or safe.... etc. .Some religions play on people's minds : first they tell you, you are a sinner, then they play on your vulnerability by asking you to submit. You know, submission all the way?

If you think this is sin city, go to China.
In this area of entertainment, any town/city there beats Kota Damansara.

Perhaps the UMNO leaders were not wrong when they called this Chinese culture.

@joejoe, your point is valid, besides the councilors are responsible and some of these councillors are clueless, balless if I must add too, no, I am not saying all but they seldom use their wisdom thought many of them are intelligent or thought so. We can understand between being all-out-no-nonsense and close both eyes when it comes to enforcement but more often when situation comes to a head, the council officers tends to be saying one and doing another things at the same time. There are also cases where councillors speak with forked tongues, either they are like the council officers who are there for the wrong reasons or they are plain stupid and we expect where and when the council officers offer their advice but the councillors must decide with wisdom, unanimously whether it is based on advice by council officers or a situation that calls for on compassionate ground and that do not affect adversely on all parties, however, they are too weak even there are room based on that and they would just blardy follow the rules blindly.

No, I am not saying they do illegal things but they are too afraid to justify their actions from the decision they could have decently made collectively that actually alleviate a lot of problems, problems that can be solved and accepted by all parties BUT they are too plain " ball-less" to take that decision because they are too afraid to face the stupid fcuking MSM papers who love twisting and spinning rubbish from poison letters - FCUK THEM!

We are watching some of the council officers too who not only bring disrepute but there are too many talks about their dirty hands, and outside having them on their payroll, giving service to those who pay and disturbing those they are instructed to by those who pay them. Where as the councilors, if you cannot work and clueless, ball-less, just get the fcuk out of there. The way the double speak and the wrong decision albeit the simple commonsense of not being able to decide based on what is beneficial, legitimate and wise!

Local councilors are lawmakers and they have no bloody business to implement the law they themselves passed by way of Local Council Enactments. Then after, government servants implement the law, not councilors. Most of the PR councilors are unaware and ignorant of such boundary. They are now inheriting of the corrupt legacies of Umno/BN because they are now seeing $$$$$$$ in this thievery rituals.

Replace the councilors.

Tunku Aziz issue and your support of it plus your other opinons, above, all ligit and should be discussed, among the 101 issues affecting Selangor and malaysia today.

The pics shown and implication
1) Massage parlours galore - suitability? corruption? legit? Need for these in chinese context?
2) Tables over parking areas. -- corruption? Hygiene? tourists liking?

Re" Corruption can be likened to the proverbial acorn; it will grow in time into a great oak. Parties making up Pakatan Rakyat when in opposition were quick to pounce on BN for similar transgressions and now they have shown, in power, that they are as adept as their much maligned Barisan Nasional friends in the insidious art of empty rhetoric. "

Yes, corruption can grow and it should be nipped in the bud. More than likely corruption is involved in the flourishing massage parlours and more likely these are been added pre & post Khalid Selangor government without sensitivies/impact feedbacks to the others in the area. Questions of the suitability of certain business have to be asked with that weighed against the "entertainmnent part of the business.

Who has overriding responsibilty on these areas,? What are the designated zones? tourist, shops or red light areas? So many questions. And the impact on new decisions/directons poltically. Are we able to cover them adquately, calmly and yet meet non-adverse poltical objectives?

The best time to go through all these is when we have open press/talk-back radio-tv/ media, supported by state and an OPEN Federal government to discuss all issues, including these ones. The rakyat in general, especially in these area is given a say where do we want to proceed from here in townhall meetings/discussion, covered by press, perhaps with even local area votes. This is not to say, that some action cannot be taken by the appropriate authorities or loked at closer since this isse is now brought up.

We may have to leave the bigger "action that we need to take once the public masses can be explained to well why some or more masage parlours in some areas are ok or but not in other areas, eg in residential areas, whether there should be exception to tables over parking areas without adequate/"tax compensation to the local govt kitty, not to individual pocket. It is NOT diffiuclt to weed out corrupt polticians or local councils in these areas - so black and white situation. I am 100% sure corruption stil continues under Selangor government but we should never make a blanket statement to say Selangor is as corrupt as the government under bn and then urge the setup of 3rd porltical force or whatever.

We should be able to take some action now (Selangor should do so, no doubt at all) but we can do ALOT more post GE Pkatan victory in this type of issue and many others. Voice your arguments pro & against publicly or privately BUT voicing poltical calls away from Pakatan is wrong. If the rakyat has spoken clearly on issues like these and there are less impediments for Pakatan/Federal government, and the reasons are not acting are leaning more unbelivable, then it becomes becomes unacceptable to us all.

There we go again “Pakatan Rakyat politicians’ loud-mouthed, arrogant and bullying lawmakers, or more correctly, lawbreakers, with their own personal political agenda give direct operational orders to enforcement officers who are answerable, in any case, to their career local government officers” What the fark people? Is Selangor run by umeno/bEND or PR? If you lot fells so strongly about it, why don’t you all come to your senses and stop this nonsense! Why not screw up your local representatives. Prove yourselves who has the over riding power. Show us some good example instead pissing yourselves off or Kota Damansara are people are braindead people!

Look at the photos, body massage, foot massage, Sin city? you guys are making mountain out of molehill. I suggest Tunku Abdul Aziz and MPPJ Enforcement Officers to be worthy of their "profession", if they know what it means. Don't be BNers trying to demonise PR. Instead of criticising BN, the PR Govt in Selangor can do so many improvements which can make positive impact to the people at large staying in Selangor, thus making a difference from corrupt BN. That's the problem without local council elections.
The chiefs and their crony henchmen are unshakable by the new state government. They believe that since they were appointed by the previous BN. govt., so they continue to owe allegiance to them. They just don't give a damn to the present management but instead create more problems.
Having local elections would definitely do the trick, knowing they would have to leave en-block when they are being voted out for not doing a good job..

RPK,

Are you sure they don't have license to operate/massage or permit for food store to use the curb. What is wrong with a legit massage on foots or body and what is wrong when during the night(not peak hour) for using the curb if extra space is needed. RPK if you are jealous of how Chinese enjoy themselves it's your problem. Are you telling me we should tell people what to do, how to behave in their room. Taking corruption is bad, but peeking at someone room or house is as bad. RPK if you gonna generalize all massage parlor are providing illegal service, and everyone going there is just for sex then you are dead wrong unless you go to more massage than me. There are professional people including chiropractor doctor who when to college, and just like there are professional writer who enjoy writing who never need college or license, that at time pollute our mind.

RPK I have a lot of respect for you but lately you are a little off track. Stay focus and listen to the sound I send you when you are lost, Screw PKR if you have to.

Pete, once MCLM becomes a movement to be reckoned with, the addressing of matters such as this and many unsolved woes can be taken up with political parties and those elected MPs so called "they deserved respect w/o earning it", they best work that asses out!

This can strengthen and straighten outstanding matters rather mere complaining and keeping them on their toes and we see what is happening now right before our eyes.
