Selangor state exco wants the Home Ministry to stop issuing permits to foreigners to work in these centres.

K Pragalah, FMT

The Pakatan Rakyat-led Selangor government has not issued any licences for new massage centres since they came into power in 2008.

On the contrary Selangor state exco Ronnie Liu blamed the Home Ministry for the boom in massage centres because it keeps issuing permits to foreigners to work at these centres.

“I also dare them to urge all BN administered state governments to close down all reflexology centres, massage centres and beauty parlours,” said Liu at a press conference today.

Liu who is also Pandamaran state rep of the DAP added that Selangor had stopped issuing licences to operate massage centres since 2006.

Liu encouraged local council enforcement division chiefs to conduct joint raids with the police and immigration officers on the mushrooming centres to reek out illegal operations.

“Local councils are not empowered to make arrests. Hence it is vital to increase the number of joint raids with the assistance from the police and immigration,” he said.

He also revealed that all 12 local councils in Selangor had conducted synchronized raids throughout Selangor on Monday.

During the raid a total of 58 premises were raided and 11 were slapped with compounds, nine were closed down and equipment from another nine were seized.
