The Selangor menteri besar's political secretary of two years says online attacks against her by Azmin's supporters would not deter her from carrying out her duties

(FMT) - Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim’s political secretary Faekah Husin is unfazed by the relentless attacks in cyberspace to boot her out.

The campaign called “Kami Sayangkan PKR (We Love PKR)”, allegedly waged by supporters of PKR deputy president and Selangor PKR chief Azmin Ali has escalated in recent weeks.

The issue first surfaced in 2010. Azmin had called for Faekah’s sacking over her involvement in the Selangorku grants programme

It resurfaced recently when Azmin re-tweeted calls for Faekah to be replaced.

When contacted, Faekah dismissed the allegations that she had abused her position in the steering committee of the “Selangorku” grants programme.

“It is not true. It could be from Azmin’s supporters or Azmin himself. I don’t care. It is an open secret that Azmin wanted Khalid to replace me as political secretary in 2010.

“As a trade-off then, Khalid gave up his position as Selangor PKR chief and Azmin took over the helm of Selangor PKR,” said Faekah.

On her position as political secretary, she said: “It is the prerogative of the menteri besar to appoint whomever he feels fit for the position.”

She also denied allegations that she had the final say on deciding the “Selangorku” grant recipients.

“I’m just a steering committee member tasked with identifying political constituencies for infrastructural projects.

“The committee is made up of Menteri Besar Incorporated, Public Works Department [PWD] engineers, PWD quantity surveyors and the menteri besar’s press secretary who make the decisions,” Faekah said.

‘Complaints against Faekah on the rise’

She said grants were given out through the programme to state representatives and MPs for infrastructural development.

“Local councils then make the final decision on who qualifies through an open tender process,” she said.

She added that there are people who approached her for grants for projects which were not within the scope of the grant.
