(The Star) - Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim must clear the air on two issues - the forfeiture of land belonging to a public listed company and the sacking of whistleblowers by the state-owned sand mining company.

Selangor Barisan Nasional coordinator Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed said the public wanted to know to whom the forfeited land in Gombak belongs to now, as public-listed Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Bhd (KHSB) had announced that it has “lost” the land.

Khalid must also explain why the state's sole sand mining concessionaire - Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB) - sacked whistleblowers who had merely expressed concern about alleged irregularities, he said.

“I am sure he would be willing to tell the rakyat what really is going on,'' he said.

Mohd Zin said this in response to recent reports highlighting the sacking of four officials in KHSB, and nine who had lost their jobs after telling on alleged wrong-doings to the management of KSSB.

The Star had reported that KHSB had sacked a company secretary, her successor, and two other officials following the controversy surrounding the “loss” of a 234ha piece of land in Gombak, Selan-gor.

The Star had also reported that nine employees of KSSB were either sacked or forced to resign after highlighting concerns over irregularities.

However, KSSB on Monday clai-med it had only sacked four employees for misconduct, after they were given a chance to defend themselves through show cause letters and domestic inquiries.

KSSB also said it was prepared to cooperate with the Selangor Compe-tency, Accountability and Transpa-rency committee during a hearing scheduled for March.

Mohd Zin said it was ironic that KHSB, which is a public listed company, resorted to sacking company secretaries who had no executive power.
