Jati

(Harakah Daily) - An American creative designer whose artwork titled "Satan's Logo" bears strong resemblance to the logo of the new group headed by former Selangor exco Dr Hasan Ali, has said that he had no problem if his work was imitated.

"I don't see the Jati logo as a problem, I actually like it better than the one I did," said Von Glitschka in an email reply to Harakahdaily, following a report that the logo unveiled at yesterday's launch of Jalur Tiga, or Jati, could have been inspired by a design he posted on his blog in 2008.

Asked whether he regarded Jati's logo as an imitation, Von, who runs creative firm Glitschka Studios based in Oregon, US, clarified that the 'Satan's Logo' posted on his blog was just meant as a creative exploration.

"I don't think anyone ripped me off so no worries," he added.

Jati's launch was held at the Shah Alam Convention Centre, and featured a keynote address by Perak Mufti Harusani Zakaria. The group's name Jalur Tiga (three stripes) denotes the three elements that Hasan lumped together as his struggle - Islam, Malays and Rulers.

The "Satan's Logo" (click here) is based on the biblical narration of the 'number of the beast', or '666', a reference to the 'devil' as mentioned in one of the chapters in the Bible: "If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666" (Revelation 13:18).As Hasan had in the past riled up a section of Christians in the country over his allegation that churches had been actively converting Muslims in the thousands, it was inevitable that Jati's adaptation of the logo stirred interest among netizens, particularly Harakahdaily readers

"It looks the same, though not 100% identical. Should have been more careful in choosing a logo," says one reader on Harakahdaily's Facebook page.

While some chide the report as petty, many have found it humorous, even offering alternative suggestions for Jati's logo.

"The logo of the rice brand Jati would have been more beautiful," says one.

Quips another: "This logo looks like the one used for recycled item."
