Wong died accidentally after falling from the first floor of his house in Bukit Bandaraya, Bangsar, while fleeing from armed robbers

(The Star) - Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Datuk Patrick Wong but do not have sufficient evidence to charge him, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Abu Bakar said Friday.

The suspect was sent to the Simpang Renggam detention centre and police were still looking for two other suspects, he added.

Khalid said police were investigating the case from the angle of a robbery-turned-murder.

He was speaking after attending the police federal-level Maulidur Rasul event at Bukit Aman here Friday.

Wong, the former Master Builders Association Malaysia president, died after falling from the first floor of his house in Bukit Bandaraya, Bangsar, while fleeing from armed robbers on Nov 19, 2009.

On Wednesday, blogger-in-exile Raja Petra Kamarudin alleged that Wong, who was said to have been gathering evidence on the sand-mining scandal in Selangor, was murdered by hired killers and not during a robbery as claimed.
