(Bernama) -- The Malaysian Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak) said today its observation reveals clear evidence of increasingly active interference by foreign powers in Malaysian politics in view of the anticipated dissolution of parliament before mid-year for the general election.

Mubarak said the latest statement of Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in support of all efforts to protect the security of Israel clearly indicates attempts by the opposition to get foreign powers, particularly the Jewish regime and its minions in the United States, to interfere in the 13th general election.

Anwar's statement was published by The Wall Street Journal recently.

"Mubarak wishes to remind Malaysians to be more cautious in evaluating the current political developments in the country in the run-up to the 13th general election which is expected to be held soon," said Mubarak information chief Datuk Abdul Rahman Sulaiman in a statement.

He said Anwar had taken the trouble to fly to Washington to explain his actual stand on the Palestinian issue after his statement in the Dewan Rakyat in March last year drew criticism from Jewish leaders around the world.

"At the Dewan Rakyat sitting, Anwar claimed that the 1Malaysia concept introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was copied from the concept of the Zionist regime. This invited criticism from Jewish leaders," he said.

Abdul Rahman said Anwar's latest statement clearly indicates that he is banking a great deal on the support of external parties, particularly the Jewish lobby, to win the next general election.

He said it is important for Malaysians to understand these developments and make as best an evaluation as possible in the next general election.

"They must realise that rumours of attempted interference by foreign powers to execute a regime change in Malaysia are not mere empty talk but a real and scary threat," he said.

Abdul Rahman said it would not come as a surprise if Jewish intelligence operatives based in several neighbouring countries are busy working to realise that change.
