KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 — The Election Commission (EC) accused Bersih 2.0 leaders today of being deceitful over its impartiality as it has the support of the opposition, a week after the electoral reforms group held a rally that drew tens of thousands.

EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof pointed out that they had gone to the streets of the capital city on July 9 to protest along with opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang and other Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders.

“So (Bersih chief Datuk) Ambiga (Sreenevasan)’s statement to me that Bersih does not side political parties is not true at all,” Abdul Aziz wrote in an essay published by the Umno-owned Mingguan Malaysian today.

“In addition, PAS president (Datuk Seri) Hadi Awang threatened SPR to take action on the eight demands, or else they will organise another demonstration,” he added, using the EC’s Malay acronym.

Abdul Aziz pointed out that Hadi’s remarks revealed Bersih 2.0’s association with political parties, saying: “Bersih is no longer the impartial body that first came to see me. It is as if it has become a political party.”

Bersih 2.0 - a coalition of 62 NGOs - has made eight demands in their call for free and fair elections, which are to clean the electoral roll, reform the postal ballot system, indelible ink, a minimum 21-day campaign period, free and fair access to the media, strengthen public institutions, stop corruption and dirty politics.

Abdul Aziz pointed out that only the first four of the eight demands were relevant to the EC. “SPR cleans the electoral roll every day,” he stressed.

“But what is said to be phantom voters are actually voters who do not live at the place where they vote. On polling day, they go back to vote (but) do not inform the JPN (National Registration Department) or SPR. They are valid voters,” added the EC chief.

Abdul Aziz noted that the postal ballot system could not be removed because many members of the army, police and Malaysian citizens were overseas, whom he said had a right to vote.

Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof , why are you so concerned if bersih is being supported by the Opposition ? Aren't you, supposed to be INDEPENDENT of the Government ? Why do you support all the atrocities commited by the Government with the postal votes, with the delineation of constituencies, with the mass marketing of the ruling party ?

You should look at yourself in the mirror first before even saying a single word about BERSIH. BERSIH is CLEAN, not unlike YOU !!

give a man a title like dato or tan sri and he becomes arrogant bastard. pr should abolish all these wasteful titles except for special cases, i.e. world champ sports personality or businessmen who created a worldwide conglomerate or somebody really outstanding, not the thousands of retiring civil servants and crony businessmen who depends on government contracts.

When the EC chairman speak ,it only show how shallow their thinking and how evil their minds can be. Bersih's rally is about clean and fair election and anybody can support it. Now he did not support and now telling the people Bersih are dishonest. The campaign had started with the help from the EC. See that?

Why there is little mentions about the eight points for reform? Unless the people are dumb as he thought which unfortunately could be true, they will continue to believe in the EC , MACC, Police and their UMno master.

I have two objections on EC chairman's latest stupidity:
1. That Bersih is not impartial for being seen with opposition parties at the 'Bersih Rally'.
2. Postal votes could not be removed because many army personnel are overseas.
On the first point, how can Bersih prevent opposition from coming to the rally, since it is open to all! So anybody can come, including opposition. They also have an interest in clean and fair elections. If BN were in the opposition, it too would take part. It will support fair elections if it perceives the EC is favoring the ruling party. The EC is under the PM's dept now, and this is bad for the country. It should be placed under direct supervision of parliament.

On the 2nd point, why allow postal votes only soldiers serving overseas? How many of them are serving overseas anyway? Only an insignificant number. Why don't the EC extend postal votes to students and all Malaysian voters who are working overseas. There
is a significant number of these people compared to soldiers. I think people know the reason. The BN is afraid of losing the votes of these students and voters working overseas. I have been a student overseas and had missed several elections while studying and working overseas. Living overseas had opened our eyes and we see the injustice of the BN govt. It does not practise real democracy, only a tokenism of it. It boasts of having general elections, but it does not mention at all how dirty the election process is. The EC chairman is talking rubbish--typical of him who 'cari makan' with the BN.

Why are you so stupid? Bersih is for a fair and clean election. If the opposition accepts it, so be it. Bersih will be with anybody who accepts its struggle, even BN.

Who is dishonest here? Is it Bersih or EC? Those who cheat are dishonest. Those who collaborate with the cheaters are dishonest. EC is dishonest. You, as EC chief, is dishonest. Have you looked into the mirror yet?

Aisehman Bersih 2.0s partiality or impartiality is not being questioned. Yours is. Stop trying to wriggle out of it, with the dirty trick of accusing your accuser. This is just the same as saying no one has the right to accuse you.

The decent and honest thing to do is to prove you impartilaity which it seems you are unable to do or have not even bothered to do.

EC Thief (Ketua SPRM) , every one of all your fingers and toes , cuckoo chiau and your split lidah are all stringed up and in full control of the UMNO Puppet master ! BERSIH2 is 100% the RAKYAT's vehicle to mow down treacherous civil servants who "RUN WITH THE HARE AND HUNT WITH THE HOUNDS " ! If you are a true Muslim , RESIGN from your post and live luxuriously quiet in your great mansion ! Even your eyelids are stringed !

Stop twisting facts and be honest with yourself that you are VERY, VERY DISHONEST ! You do not even have the courage to look into the eyes of your children and grand children whenever you lavish them with your UNCLEAN earnings all due to your complete dishonesty basically by NOT OBEYING THE "GENERAL ORDERS" AS EVERY CIVIL SERVANT MUST ! The executives and the SPRM are all SUBSERVIENT, established to serve the RAKYAT !

Imagine all your children and grand children being tutored and educated by Educationists and teachers who , like you now , fervently serve their political masters without a care for basic decency and the "GENERAL ORDERS" long in place ! ASTAGFIRULLAH ! MAY ALLAH FORBID !
