PETALING JAYA: Religious departments have courted brickbats instead of bouquets from the Sisters in Islam (SIS) for their Valentine’s Day hate campaign.

Speaking to FMT, SIS legal and advocacy officer Nazreen Nizam called the dragnet a waste of taxpayers’ money and urged the authorities to focus on more pressing issues.

“They are morally policing Muslims which violates dignity and privacy. This is forbidden in Islam,” she said.

“They could use their resources to look for fathers who don’t pay alimony or crack down on people who enter polygamous marriages without the consent of the syariah court,” she added.

Nazreen said the funds could also be used to educate religious officers regarding recent developments in other Muslim nations.

“The schools of thought here are very outdated. Do they have so little to do that they want to go after people who are dating?” she asked.

For Muslims here, Feb 14 came with a stern warning from religious authorities to steer clear of the celebration, which was deemed un-Islamic.

Painting a thorny picture, the Selangor Islamic Department (JAIS) blamed Valentine’s Day for the 257,411 births out of wedlock between 2000 and 2008.

Dates on Valentine’s Day, the authorities claimed, would eventually lead to illicit sex.

In the ensuing crackdown, religious authorities detained close to a 100 Muslims for the offence of khalwat (close proximity).

The Christian community was also up in arms when news broke of a video clip depicting a religious teacher urging Muslims not to indulge in the “vices of Christians”.

How is it that the AG bonking his employee , or the prosecutor bonking her client, or thambee cheek bonking a 15 year old girl, or Mat TAhi bonking the sultans daughter, or the current sultan bonking a bengali girl or MB Hassn bonking his sister in law get by passed by Jakim, Jais, or Jakun? In the case of Mat Tahi and Hassan there is evidence a kid was produced. Illicit sex is a daily human UMNO acitvity. In Perak we have a a big hypocrite Hassarani who does not surround the race course when the sultan goes for his entertainment everytime there is a horse race. Now what would a HEAD OF ISLAM be doing in race course..?/watching horses running??? And another HEAD OF ISLAM bonking a bengali girl. You go to 4D shops half the clients are Malays. IT is a daily immoral activity. It does not just happen at VAlentine's day. Jakim, Jais or Jakun wants to cover up its gross loss of credibility for not doing an hones duty of catching the rich and powerful. Beer/liquor drinking is rampant in pubs and other places by Malays. These immoral activities are happening and they do not know what to do. It is easier to shift the blame to the west using the VAlentine activity as one of them. I thnk Malays should stand up and tell Jakim or Jais or Jakun to shut up and go take care of their own wives and children.

"The Selangor Islamic Department (JAIS) blamed Valentine’s Day for the 257,411 births out of wedlock between 2000 and 2008." Statement like this does show the whole world one thing - that they have succeeded in assembling a team of blockheads to run the department.

"Selangor Islamic Department (JAIS) blamed Valentine’s Day for the 257,411 births out of wedlock between 2000 and 2008".

Hold on, Malaysians were doing their patriotic duty to increase the population by 70 million by the year 2100 as per Dr. Mahathirs policy during the 33rd UMNO Annual General Assembly. So why does JAIS go after Valentines Day, when they could go after Mahathir who indirectly encouraged all this khalwating?

On the other hand, we see stories like this:

"Policeman fleeing khalwat raid falls to death"
http://news.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne+News/Crime/Story/A1Story20100627-224074.html

"Student falls to death fleeing khalwat raid "
http://news.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne+News/Malaysia/Story/A1Story20100425-212282.html

"Woman falls to her death while fleeing raid"
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/6/17/nation/4129809&sec=nation

Anyone notice a trend here? Three different people have fallen to their deaths during khalwat raids. God knows how many more have died this way. Shouldn't these religious enforcement officers be charged with culpable homicide? Shouldn’t JAIS, JAKIM, etc be charged for this? Where’s the justice? Unfortunately, there is a great deal of silence on this.
