“Irresponsible and desperate attempt to destabilise the nation,” said Nurul Izzah Anwar in her response to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s warning that Malays would lose power if Pakatan Rakyat (PR) came to power.

According to the Lembah Pantai MP, not only has the race card being used to incite but also to perpetuate the only approach that UMNO and its leaders (past and present) have used with impunity which is the ‘Politics of Fear’.

..“The ‘politics of fear’ uses Article 153 as a political instrument of deceit and despair. The Malays are indoctrinated through all means available including using NGOs to continue to ‘act’ out a victim mentality narrative that degrades, confuses and paralyses a community to remain enslaved intellectually and emotionally first by the colonial masters and now by its new reincarnation, UMNO,” said Izzah.

The ‘Princess of Reformasi’ also added that the aim of this is none other to maintain political hegemony by the ruling Malay elite few who have enriched themselves through corruption, abuse of power and undermining the constitution relentlessly. Sadly, they have been assisted by MCA, MIC, Gerakan and the other BN component parties by their silence and omission to act responsibly.

“We must fight back by emphasising on the ‘Politics of Hope and Liberation’, which will transform the Malay Mind from the false fear of losing their identity and economical development to a positive force that will create a confident and liberated community,” urged her.

“Therefore, with the aim for a constructive engagement to build a ‘Better Malaysia for All Malaysians’, I humbly offer to debate with Tun Dr. Mahathir to clarify if his ‘fear’ for the Malays is really about loss of power or in reality loss of wealth for the chosen few (Takut Melayu Hilang Kuasa atau Hilang Harta)?” she added.

Utusan Malaysia has today reported Mahathir’s statement that Malays would lose power if PR came to power. He implied that a Chinese or an Indian could become prime minister if PR took federal power because there was no constitutional restriction on race for the position.

Talking about Malays losing power is nonsensical but then again for the general public who are not aware of the plundering of wealth by certain quarters, you can't help to laugh when some people talk about defending the constitution... narrow minded to say the least.

Reality check: Of the majority of Malays, how many more can benefit if the level of corruptions are reduced/ or even eradicate by unscrupulous individuals? Don't we have Chinese and Indians who are poor as well?

For those who talk about helping Malays but in actual fact, the well being of the Malays are not being taken care of is certainly useless even if we upheld the Constitution. It doesn't cure the disease but merely diagnose the symptom, just like what the Auditor General do annually on the level of corruption. We know there were actions made to waste the public fund but a few weeks later, no news.

Malaysians should understand that we are Malaysians first and at the same time respect each other religions, races and cultures... being a racist merely to show that we are great is foolish simply because it doesn't benefit everyone.

And yes, ask yourself this - how long do we need to have this feeling of fear for our country Malaysia?

Dan ya, tanya diri anda soalan ini - sampai bila kita hendak hidup dengan perasaan takut di dalam negara kita Malaysia?

Dear Nurul,
If I were Dr M ,I would agree to a debate.
You have to be very2 prepared and do your homework very well.otherwise you would get a trashing and PR would also get a trashing.
PKR cannot be seen as "pengkhianat bangsa Melayu" like UMNO is seen as now when they tried to remove article 153 and replacing it with NEM.

The real issue is corruption. I am sure Dr M would never debate with anyone on corruption.

Article 153 is UMNOs strength abused or not. You cannot debate Dr M or UMNO on article 153 of which they have done something, although it benefited cronies.

As a Malay I support article 153 to be continued. otherwise the Malays would be like the aborigines of Australia and the native/red Indians of America.

Please read my article Even Allah would favor Article 153 that favours poor Malays ans poor non Malays". at...

They know that they will lose everything when PR comes into power. Their ill-gotten wealth will be and must be returned to the nation. This is why they have to resort to the only means they know how to in order to remain in power in order to further emasculate the nation's wealth ...or whatever's left of it. Mahathir will never dare to accept your challenge for the simple reason that if he were to accept the challenge, he will only open himself up for close scrutiny which will expose skeletons which he would rather keep hidden.

All you bloggers out there.... lend Nurul a helping hand by exposing any suspiciously unaccounted for wealth of politicians and their cronies or proxies which belongs to the nation. Let's us make this a project by concerned Malaysians to zoom-in on the thieves and plunderers of the nation. All bloggers out there who knows of, have knowledge of and have solid evidences of these opportunists/thieves and their cronies' abuses or unaccounted for wealth (public or hidden) -if any - must contribute their information and list out all hidden or proxy-held wealth that belonged to the nation. Document them publicly and let the nation know what is or has been actually happening to the nation's wealth. Document them publicly and there will be lots more information gathered from various concerned contributors that would enable us to complete the total picture to show to the nation where our wealth has gone to.

Let the people know exactly why they had to resort to such tactics to remain in power and the reason behind such behaviour. Let the nation know how actions or inactions has led to certain elites in power being able to accumulate wealth with impunity and without recourse for the nation to recover such indecent wealth/plunder unless PR becomes the next government. Malaysia will be able to withstand any economic hardship without it's citizens having to suffer if and when such looted wealth are recovered for the benefit of the nation.

Go for it Nurul, get those recalcitrant bastards. Let's call a spade, a spade. Let the nation know what exactly they are trying to do and how the citizens have to suffer as a result. Let us not allow them to divert us from the real truth. The truth is out there and the feisty truth seeking bloggers will be right behind you every step of the way.

So is Dr. Mamakutty and his umno hordes, their fear of losing political power and now we are watching the "Oldie Umnoputras" taking turns to spin, turn and twist thus putting fear into the Malay' minds of their losing power and the country to the nons.

This is the twenty-first century and the majority Malaysian Malays are not naive and uneducated that they can be easily tricked and influenced like their parents and grandparents.

Dear Ms. Nurul,
Thank you very much for your invitation to debate.
Lately, my health had been on 'ups and downs'. Probably this could be due to "curse" made by the rakyat and especially your father upon me for what I have done during my 22 years on the helm. Debating with you, a young, beautiful and exteremly intelligent woman, would surely hasten my demise. On the other hand, I know I'm going to lose because I know I cannot substantiate the statement I made about Malay will lose power if PR runs the government.

In light of this matter, I have proposed a few names to replace me namely, Najis, Moohidin, Kerismuddin, Mukflis, Sajilat, Muhammad2, Toyol, ThambyYoungChick, Abraham AliF**ker and Bung Moktar bocor. One or two of them will be contacting you soon to confirm their attendance. I cannot send SamyNoValue or Chua Pornstar cos they are not MauLayu.

Thank you and kindly convey my regards and Raya wishes to your father.

Yours sincerely

Tun MahaKutty A/L Punde.

It feels like yesterday. It stabs the heart of any daughter of malaysia to have to go through what they felt at very helpless moment in time. All the malay must ask themselves. Is this what you want for your son and daughters? Is the money gained for some cronies more important than the continue heartbreak of your sons and daughter?

The daughter that saved her father. That is a fabulous touching story, by any account.

The daughter that is to going save Malaysia as the first female Pm one day (maybe sooner than we think) It is a Allah-send for ALL the malay and the other rakyat in the nation. We wil all rejoice. the Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen and all the christian would sing "Hallelujah"

Part 3

It seems that the entire administration of justice in Malaysia is in a severe state of crisis. Laws are being abused to inflict injury on the innocent AND protect perpetrators of human right violations. Laws are being abused to harass and prosecute my father’s defence counsel, to prevent them from carrying out their professional duties. Mr. Zainul Zakaria has been sentenced to 3 months’ jail for contempt of court and another lawyer Mr. Karpal Singh has been charged under the Sedition Act [for what they said in the court while defending my father]. Thus I appeal to this commission to intervene to protect the rights of lawyers defending my father.

I appeal this commission to help secure the release of my father. There is an urgent need to right wrongs inflicted upon him and the other innocents who have been targeted for no other reason than their association with my father or their peaceful work for reform.

I must say the experiences [of my family and supporters of the Reformasi movement] of the past 18 months have helped us understand the necessity of civil and political rights. The injustices perpetrated in Malaysia have turned us into human rights activists because we cannot ignore what is happening in our beloved country. As a young Malaysian, I hope that you too, will not ignore this desperate and difficult situation and intervene now, before it worsens.

Mr Chairman, the members of this Commission may think that I am naïve and idealistic in seeking its help to solve the injustices in my country. The truth is, there is no other place left to seek mercy, when we cannot expect justice from the national institutions meant to protect our rights. Like the children and family members of political prisoners around the world, we want our father to come home. My younger sister, 7-year-old Nurul Hana, begged me to tell you of her dream. Her dream is that in the not-too-distant future, she will be able to sleep with a sweet smile on her face after listening to a reading by our ever-doting father of the beautiful story of Cinderella, ending with the sweetest line: “…and so they all lived happily ever after..”

Thank you.

Part 2
My father is a political prisoner. His prosecution [under the Penal Code] is a means of political persecution. He was sacked [from the government] because he called for reform of the economic and political system. As Minister of Finance he declared that public funds should not be used to bail out politically connected big corporations. His prosecution is a result of a collusion and abuse of power by several key government institutions.

In order to fabricate evidence against my father, the authorities violated the rights of other people. Dr. Munawar Anees, a scholar and a friend of my father, Sukma Darmawan, our adopted family member, and Meor, a fashion designer, were arrested, coerced and cruelly tortured by the police to extract so-called confessions that they were sodomised by my father. Dr Munawar and Uncle Sukma were subjected to sham court proceedings and sentenced to jail. These lies and fabrications which have been manufactured through human right violations not only hurt these men and our family, but also hurt the credibility and sanctity of the government institutions we are supposed to trust.

Although my father was charged and tried in a court of law, the trial has been severely criticised by the legal community, in Malaysia and internationally.[Amnesty International which has sent special representatives to study the entire episode of my father’s sacking and prosecution has declared my father as a prisoner of conscience.]

Although my father is a political prisoner he has been treated worse than a common criminal. He has been denied bail although the crime he was charged with is a bailable offence. The judge [in dismissing the appeal for bail] claimed it would cost the government a lot of money to control my father and his supporters.
My father Anwar Ibrahim is being kept under solitary confinement and family visits are severely restricted. There were even times when his legal counsel was denied visits.

Last year my father suffered sudden, severe and dramatic health problems in detention. Initial lab test results [of his urine sample] showed a dangerously high level of arsenic poisoning. The fear of losing our loving father forever became very real. Instead of appointing an independent team to investigate the poisoning [as had been done in the case the beating of my father], the Attorney General made irresponsible and malicious remarks; he implied that my mother could have poisoned my father. When my father was hospitalised at the National University Hospital, some of the doctors complained that their offices were bugged and they were harassed [by senior officials as high up as the Health Minister].

On the issue of impunity: While my father continues to be subjected to human rights violations, the perpetrator of the grievous assault against him remains free. The [now former] police chief Abdul Rahim Noor was charged in court last year for “attempting” to cause injury to my father. He later admitted guilt to an amended and much milder charge. He was given a light sentence [2 months’ jail and a fine of RM2,000/US540], and is out on bail pending appeal [against the outrageously mild sentence]. Nothing was done to bring to book other accomplices of the crime against my father.

A woman par excellence. A daughter, sister, mother, wife --a woman anyone will be proud of.Nurul is a woman of substance, --a perfect symbol of a devoted and dedicated leader.
For the benefit of many here who had missed out on a gem which im sure you would want your daughter to emulate --------feel now your senses!!!!!
TO ALL FINE AND TRUE DAUGHTERS OF THIS SOIL, TO THE ROSES OF THIS BEAUTIFUL NATION!
This speech that was spoken on a world stage, by a very young girl, 19 years of age, a victim of so many humiliations and sufferings in her life, who hails from Malaysia, who rose to prominence from Lembah Pantai, should serve as a reminder to all fine and young women of Malaysia, that they should not be taken for granted, for their time too have arrived!

PART I Speech in Geneva on 7th April 2000
Mr. Chairman,

It is an honour for me, as a young person, to speak at this meeting. I bring you greetings from my father Anwar Ibrahim, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Malaysia, who is currently incarcerated at Sungai Buluh Prison. His message is attached for your kind attention. I am Nurul Izzah Anwar, his eldest daughter. I am 19 years old and I represent my family and the Reformasi movement to draw your attention to a growing crisis of civil and political rights.

My father was arrested on 20 September 1998 [after leading an unprecedented rally calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad]. On the night of his arrest he was viciously assaulted by the Inspector General of Police Abdul Rahim Noor. One of the doctors who [later] examined my father concluded that “he is lucky to be alive” [because the blows were so severe and aimed at potentially fatal places.]
The way my father was arrested was an act of provocation, an insult to human dignity and common sense. A squad of hooded elite police commandos armed with sub machine guns broke into our home which was packed with family members, friends, journalists and supporters, all unarmed. Among them were women and children. Guns were pointed at my younger brother and sister, aged 13 and 14.

My father was arrested under the [Section 377B of the] Penal Code. But after he was so grievously assaulted by the nation’s police chief, his warrant of arrest was changed to that of under the draconian Internal Security Act [which allows detention without trial] to avoid having to produce him to court within 24 hours, to cover up the police brutality. For nine agonizing days, they refused to tell us where he was. They lied that he was safe and healthy, so you can imagine our shock to learn that he was beaten so severely. Even the Prime Minister maliciously alleged that my father’s injuries were self inflicted.

First of all I do not understand why civil servants who are paid with the rakyat's tax money and who are supposed to deliver are given titles like TUN, TOON, GOON, DATUK. KATAK.
and Lanun and so forth. They are supposed to do a good job. 99 percent fail in thier duty towards the rakyat and yet they are given all these stooopid titles and then the bungling royals withdraw them. And these same bungling royals are quarreling over being given all the business opportunities first although they get paid heavily with the rakyat's tax money. Then they quarell over wives or quietly divorce and marry many times..( free money..and we pay for all their bonkings) Now coming to the point we have a TUN only God knows for what this title is given after plundering our national treasury and oil money. This SEWER HAND MAMAK is adamant to destabilise the nation because he needs the bodek kaki kampung Malays to cover his ass for all the dirty things he has done. Without this support base he is finished. And as long as the kampung Malay supports this SEWER HAND MAMAK he knows he is safe. How is it that Nurul can bring these issues up and Azmin/Zaid are not bene able to do so, especially the Azmin chap? Is she given special authority to speak out while Azmin and others are gagged?

When was the last time you hear a substantial speech from Azmin character? Since the undercurrent "news of the Azmin "supposedly trying to undo the Selangor MB til today, going by the Caffeine drink hit in Quality Hotel, Shal Alam, and seaside "romp at Port Dickson fizzle to nothing, have anyone heard a great speech from him?

Is this his modus operandi - we have to guess what is on his mind? Or he has a disdain on ordinary rakyat, like us all, yearning for more information/speeches on this mysterious chap, more mysterious than the Loch Ness monster, day by day.

Whatever benefits that the PR are implementing, 60%+ of the citizens which are the Malays would be rewarded rather than being the majority of victims of BN now...if the amount of corruptions are $10 billion, 60%+ which is $6+ billions are from the Malays...of cos to Tun, the minds of the Malays are easier to manipulate than the Chinese. Their reason to stay in power is not to lead the nation but to protect themselves. Sial Betul. !!!!!
