KUALA KLAWANG, Sept 6 — Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim has proposed that radio and television commercials to be screened before they go on air to avoid cultural, religious and racial discord.

He said this was in the wake of criticisms of a TV3 Aidilfitri advertisement, which displayed a flying trishaw, lotus and lamps which purportedly incorporated elements of Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism into the Muslim festival.

TV3 has since cancelled the controversial advertisement and apologised for hurting the feelings of its Muslim viewers.

Speaking to reporters after breaking fast with orphans, single mothers and the poor at Kampung Gagu mosque here today, he said monitoring of radio and television commercials was under the jurisdiction of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Rais, who is the MP for Jelebu, said when commercials were not screened, the content would be overlooked by the authorities.

He said the monitoring would entail the setting up of a committee involving advertisers, radio and television stations, and newspaper with the commercials subjected to approval from the MCMC.

“We will determine the values, standards and regulations. So far there are no such guidelines for radio and TV commercials except for motion pictures and drama.

“That is why we also see billboards in topsy-turvy condition all over the country. They are placed in places they should not have been displayed in the first place.

“This happened because the permits are approved by local authorities. This is a big problem as they cloud our sight,” he said. — Bernama

How about screening the "Mode-changing" episode on how you humiliate the reporter in such a racist way?

This Drag Queen, ModeDresser aka Rais PHD has done more harm to the young minds with his vocabs as "anal swabs, thrusts, leftover of semen , deep freezing semen in Saipoo for 3 days and nights,"" etc to the young innocent minds than the bombs dropped on Hiroshima. He has the gal to call himself a Minister of Culture. He is upholding True Malay culture and History ??? Would he dare say what he says in front of my True Malay brothers?? He is also of the kind who would have cross-dressed to give his mate a fetish for laces and relate it on TV 3!!! He has no morals!!!!Hey Rais , May God have mercy on you on the last day of Ramadan!!!

Obviously , the codes for advertising is not enough. The same for non-muslim entering mosque & doing speeches. Setup codes that all relgious people can agree on, if you/the public is going to pick on this & that. And then back it up FULLY if another groupie or person complains again with no poltics involement.

Let the codes by foot high in thickness for advertising. The same for entering mosques and speeches etc, since this is so important to you.

That is the Problem with NEW UMNOputra of TDM. This to show to all our Malaysian that their credibility is blatantly RUBBISH. Now. After 53 years You as a Minister of communication still trying to tell us that BN has GOVERNANCE?. My FOOT!. We shoud start to vote for his resignation. Let the People in Malaysia through MT votes. We don't need this ARSE. He should resign first. We are dealing with Perpetuating Religion [ISLAM]. Especially through Mass Media on Television. This mistake cannot be tolerated...Allah Huakhbar...!

If after screening still could have error, better don't do it and save the cost. Anyway, all ads are lies particular those that promote the gomen propaganda.
