(Free Malaysia Today) - Pakatan Rakyat should form and operate a shadow cabinet if the coalition was serious to grab federal power in the next general election, an academician said today.
Dr Sivamurugan Pandian from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) said the shadow cabinet would also exhibit Pakatan's credentials as a government-in-waiting.
By putting a shadow cabinet into practice, he said Pakatan could conduct a probation test run on the capability and ability of its parliamentarians in handling ministerial positions in future.
He said it would generate interest among Pakatan parliamentarians on particular ministerial duties and functions.
He added that Pakatan could breed and develop knowledgeable and skilled parliamentarians to assume ministerial roles in future.
“If Pakatan is serious to take over Putrajaya, it should form its shadow cabinet immediately,” said Sivamurugan, the deputy dean of USM School of Social Sciences.
He suggested that Pakatan’s shadow cabinet perform according to the coalition’s common policy framework (CPF).
By demonstrating its political conviction to implement the CPF, he said Pakatan could boost public confidence to effect a change in the federal government in the next general election.

50 hired air-conned coaches lined the road 2 kilometers long and waited for the participants while the feted lunch up to 4 pm at the convention.
The coaches brought the BeEnd people to hole up in Ting Pak Koong's new useless up-country 5 star hotel situated in fringe of Kuching town; the 4 Poin Shitraton Hotel.
Looks like BeEnd is gearing it up in Sarawak for state erections.

Dr Sivamurugan Pandian talks of credentials, capability and ability of Pakatan ministers-in-waiting. Can I ask what credentials, capability and ability do the BN ministers have? What new thinking and ideas have BN introduced in over 50 years -- except more and more laws and rules (so more scope for "nak selasai"), more and more injustice to the poor and vulnerable, more billion-ringgit edifices, all the multi-million ringgit high-tech schemes and innovations that mostly fail or don't serve any useful purpose? (Latest: the scrapped petrol dumbie, the fish boxes etc.)
Hey Doc, the Average Joe in the street will do a better job lah.
Doubters, just see what Penang and Selangor have done in just 2 years at the local level - despite all the obstacles at federal level and the unprincipled and highly distasteful starving and diverting of rightful federal funds.
To Pakatan leaders, be clean, honest and diligent. Just the do the job we elected you for. And even if you sincere tried and can't do the job you're okay as long as you are clean and honest -- those ruling goons can't do the job either and they cost the taxpayers hell!

But the it should be called a Transition Govt. This is what's done by elected officials to key governmental positions (President, to Governors, and down to local Mayors).
This can help a repeat of what happened when they lost Selangor, Perak, Penang in BN12 --- files & documents were removed.

The oppostion takes the proa-active stand on issues, subject to more costing when they get in. Anwar would be very useful in this area, as he woudl ahve access to management figures and $.
The government is then made to look like they dont belong there. There are so many issues that the PR can chose to spell out selectively , especiaily closer to the next GE.

The talents & resources will be great and helps promote dialogue among the components and groom successors to the ministries when PR takes over.
Why give our game away so easily to the Be N'ding.
