Hindraf Makkal Sakthi is planning a candle light vigil on the 20th of July 2012 simultaneously in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Johore to focus attention and to protest the cavalier attitude of the UMNO led government in continuing to withhold Hindraf Chairperson’s passport in spite of various calls by Hindraf and various NGOs and individuals to issue him with a passport to return to Malaysia.

If the Government wants to be transparent and play it by the rules, it should return the passport and allow Waytha Moorthy to return and then to charge him with whatever they have on their minds. Otherwise we must conclude that they are fearful of his return to Malaysia and would like to keep him out with any and every measure to achieve this, including this refusal to grant him his passport.

The Candle light vigil will be held at 8.00pm at these various locations to highlight this hubris. All justice minded Malaysians are invited to join in the protests. Please invite your friends and family to join in this protest.

It is time this Government transformed its attitudes – the writing are clearly on the wall. If it continues with its attitude of ignoring the rakyat’s legitimate demands, it is only a matter of months before the rakyat will respond and in ways that the Government will regret its actions here.

Does the UMNO led Government have any residual wisdom left?

This candle light vigil will be Hindraf’s last collective request to the Malaysian Government to return Wayhta Moorthy’s passport.
