Theme: MALAYSIAKU - CELEBRATING MALAYSIA DAY

Malaysia was formed on 16th September 1963, when Malaya, Sabah (then known as North Borneo), Sarawak and Singapore came together as a country. For the first time, in 2010, our Government has declared Malaysia Day as a public holiday

Malaysia Day is a day for all Malaysians to celebrate our nationhood: irrespective of whether we are from East Malaysia or West Malaysia; and regardless of our ethnicity, culture, religion, social standing, or any of the other many different ways in which we (or others, for us) delineate, classify and identify ourselves.   

It is in this spirit of 1Malaysia, that we, a group of Malaysians who care deeply for our country, conceived the Malaysiaku – Celebrating Malaysia Day project. This country is “Malaysiaku” (My Malaysia) for all Malaysians.

Through exhibitions, talks, discussions, performances, poetry reading, art, music, books, food, and other ways, we celebrate all that is unique and beautiful about this country.

“Founding Fathers of Malaysia” - Panel discussion.

“47 Years After the Birth of Malaysia - Are We a Nation or a Collection of Peoples?" A hi-tea talk between constitutionalists of different generations. Discussion on current issues that plague our media and progress of our country in light of its Constitution. Speakers include senior lawyer Tuan Haji Suleiman.

These are the events that are important to all human beings regardless of what race, religion or creed they are.”
