For PKR to survive and for Pakatan Rakyat to stay relevant, they need a leader who is acceptable to the royal houses and who can command the respect of all Malaysians.

There’s a practical side also as to why Tengku Razaleigh is the ultimate playmaker for the Pakatan people if the bigger picture is to oust Umno and the BN government. The bigger picture, I repeat once more, is to secure the interest of the country, not to secure the interest of one Anwar Ibrahim.

Mohd Ariff Sabri Aziz, Free Malaysia Today

What is Umno’s latest weapon now? It’s the cultivation of the royal houses in the country.

If PKR isn’t blind, they will see where the HRH Sultan of Selangor is going with his majesty’s overt political tones.

Umno is now working overtime to drum in this fallacious idea that if others come into power the very future of the royal houses, the symbol of Malay existence, will be wiped out.

How can Pakatan neutralise this powerful move which is also a powerful idea?

By having someone from the royal line to talk to the rulers. Who can talk to the rulers on equal terms other than Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (Ku Li)?

He’s a royalty himself and commands respect and deference among the royal houses.

Tengku Razaleigh will represent the second coming of a Tengku Abdul Rahman figure but this time, putting Malaysia on the right footing.

Pakatan must win over fence-sitters

It’s for better and participative democracy, the rule of law, and disciplined and better governance.

Why Tengku Razaleigh? Because it’s important for the Pakatan to gain the allegiance and support of the 20 percent fence-sitter voters.

This section of the public has a different psychology. They want to know who the next prime minister is.

Is the next premier going to be more acceptable than the present one?

They want certainty and some confidence in the person. That person must have substance, experience, standing and respect all around.

Furthermore, the fence-sitters will demand to see some clarity.

All the monarchs are fully aware of the political situations in Malaysia and some of them are taking advantage of the situation for personal gains. If the PR wins big, the monarchs will understand that it is too dangerous for them to be partial.

I agree 101% . If Pakatan chooses Ku Li as the next PM, then Pakatan will get many more votes. If Anwar does not want to rot in jail for the next 16 years he better do something. It is better to be a deputy PM then die in jail. It is also be better for pakatan to be in power then be in opposition.

Pakatan just needs a little bit more to cross the line to be the winner and I believe Ku Li can take them there.

I hope Anwar remembers RPK's endless years of hard work & praise The Man for his persistence & relentless effort to make the change in government happen. RPK, you are Our Man, now, always and forever. Wonder if Anwar has the capacity for gratitude & conscience? If so, show it to our RPK. I don't like the idea of TRH being PM under BN. No way, either he is out of umno or it shld be Anwar or someone else from PR. Mr Karpal Singh is a very good candidate. This man brooks no nonsense but if certain people have a problem with his skin color, that's really dumb & racist stupidity!

He can be considered only if he quits UMNO right NOW and join Pakatan BEFORE this
coming election, and not AFTER the election after seeing, God willing, Pakatan taking
over Puterajaya.

I am a supporter of PKR and also Tengku Li. I know Ku Li from his 46 party days. If you compare his calibre with PKR leaders, not one can even smell or near it! His qualificatons from reputed UK universities. He started Petronas, finance minister, Pernas and many other GLCs. However, why he was not fovoured by Mahathir because Mahathir wants only Mamak! He tested Osman Aroff, Anwar Musa in the political circle, but their corruption were glaring! So he tried Government servants such as Alyise Omar, Haniff Omar, and others but no one had his cunning habits! So he pick Anwar Ibrahim (PKR leader and a Mamak ) but Anwar was too ambitious. He listened to some UMNO leaders such as Tamby Cik, Naziri, Zaidi, and few others, so he was sacked and jailed!

Do you mean there is nothing we can do to stop UMNO from using unfounded accusation to jail an opposition? Can we go to Agong? Can we go to UN for help?

Deng Xiao Ping stood firm on his principles despite being persecuted and banished 3 times. He was a proven strategist and leader (over 2 wars) and a proven technocrat/builder. When his country needed him at age 70 there was no duobt in the other leaders' minds who they will be getting and dealing with.

TRH cannot be compared to Deng. All we hear are people claiming that he'd make a good 'floating bridge'. Never put one's hope on a floating bridge. It is useful only for hopping amphibians...

Many questions have been raised on the suitability of TRH. Dato Ariff has always been spot on in analysing the economic and political ills of this country except in this instance I sense a subterfuge objective of "save umno at all cost" even it it means merging umno with the opposition. Utilising TRH as the instrument to facilitate the rebirth of umno by getting him to jump ship is a serious question of political ethics. And I like many don't like frogs!

This is going to be the GE of new blood. And there had better be some costly legal implications imposed on politicians for jumping sides.

Mohd Ariff Sabri Aziz explains about the "practical side also as to why Tengku Razaleigh is the ultimate playmaker for the Pakatan people if the bigger picture is to oust Umno and the BN government."

I agree completely that if we compare the overall characters and attributes of TR and Anwar, including their past performances as UMNO/BN ministers, TR is far ahead of Anwar as the preferred next PM of Malaysia. However, on the matter of the "practical side" alluded to in using Tengku Razaleigh as the "ultimate play-maker for Pakatan Rakyat", it appears to me that Mohd Ariff has his own unique understanding of the word "practical", one which totally escapes my comprehension.

How can TR fit into any "practical strategy" to oust UMNO and the BN government when TR insists on remaining a steadfast UMNO member? More amazingly, his continuing steadfast loyalty for UMNO is despite the fact that he could not even get a seconder when he announced his candidacy for the UMNO President's post!

Perhaps Mohd Ariff knows something about TR's as yet unknown and unannounced imminent plan to leave UMNO? Maybe even defect to PR? After all, Mohd Ariff, while still being referred to as a "former Umno state assemblyman", and not yet as a "former UMNO member", keeps writing about how to "oust Umno and the BN government."

While DSAI, a born fighter, is the main reason we have come so far in our struggle to have a two party system, how do you actually spring him out of Sg.Buloh without resorting to jungle law?

The way I see it, anyone from PKR - Azmin, Nurul Izzah, Wan Azizah etc - are interested parties. For justice to be SEEN to be done, we need a neutral party to be the PM. While a royal pardon might free DSAI, it won't cleanse his name officially. The new PM needs to call for some sort of retrial, with commonwealth judges preciding.

In such a scenario, TR seems to be the best man since Hadi Awang or Nik Aziz might not be acceptable to the non-Muslims and also can be accused of being interested parties.

UMNO members no longer think high of Tengku Razaleigh. They woul not support any reform. He and Musa hitam have lost their political futures because of Mahathir.UMNO baru is different from UMNO lama.
