I did not see the the Chua Soi Lek sex tape. The former Health Minister, against all odds, overcame the embarrassment and the trauma of his infidelity. Kudos to him for his resilience. What I admire most about him was his public admission of his mistake. His willingness to come out to his supporters. To admit to the error of his ways. To ask for forgiveness from his family. Despite his private failings, he eventually regained acceptance in the wider MCA community and they re-elected him as their party president.
We politicians aren’t perfect. But the least we can do when caught with our pants down is to come clean and be honest about our failings.
All across the world, and throughout history, there have many public figures who have been implicated in these kinds of sexual scandals. They either resigned on their own volition or were forced to do so as the public expect some degree of good conduct from their leaders. Because irrespective of one’s beliefs about the interconnectedness of our private and public lives, it is an inescapable fact that it is not in the interests of the nation to have leaders who are not able to observe some degree of discipline in their personal lives. They must have the respect of the people as well as that of their colleagues, both foreign and domestic, in order to discharge their duties well. When a leader is implicated in scandal after scandal, he or she will eventually lose the respect of the people and forfeit their legitimacy as a leader.
Every time there are allegations of sexual impropriety or misconduct involving the Opposition Leader (and there are many), his allies in DAP and PAS will protect and stand by him. Due to their marriage of convenience, DAP and PAS do not demand any explanation at all from Anwar. By doing this, PKR’s partners in the Pakatan electoral pact are indicating that Anwar does not need to account to anyone for his behaviour. Instead, they will continue to accuse UMNO & BN, the Police and his political opponents as being responsible for the mischief. The folks in Pakatan are even clamouring for four qualified Muslim witnesses to the act. The sidestepping and spin carried out by Anwar’s followers is telling of the political culture that he has engendered. Anwar continues to be the subject of political conspiracy and false charges. That Anwar can do no wrong. That he is the perpetual victim.
Over the last few days, I have been reading a lot of comments from the Malaysian public about this latest sexual encounter caught on tape between a Malay politician and an unknown woman. The commentators have said many things. They believe that the tape was likely doctored. They say that it was motivated by the vengeance of Tan Sri Rahim Thamby Chik. They say that it’s physically impossible for a man with a “bad back” to have that kind of vigorous sex; adding that the shape of his stomach will absolve him. They believe that this revelation comes too close to an election to be anything other than a political setup. For the most part, they are content to assume that it’s all fake and merely made up to discredit Mr Opposition.
Yes, there are questions. And they should be answered. But the most important question is whether the video is authentic or if it has been doctored? Heaping presumptions upon assumptions, we find ourselves either not wanting to know or just uninterested in finding out the truth.
When the famous VK Lingam tape episode surfaced, Mr Lingam was quoted to have said “He looks like me, sounds like me; but its not me.” It was something the Malaysian public could not accept that as true. “Impossible”, they exclaimed. “Lies.” “Unacceptable.” But of course, when Anwar and his supporters respond in similar fashion, the public somehow embraces the explanation as good enough. Difficult as it may be to accept, the same standards of scrutiny towards public figures and national figures must apply, irrespective of where you stand on the political divide.

Also note that UMNO could have asked the religious boys to break into the hotel room with a camera crew and get Anwar in the act. Why was this not done?

So far I agreed with what Zaid had said above. PKR and Anwar supporters are so childish and support their 'idol' with blind devotion. Let us put things in the right perspective. I am not trying to run down Anwar or support Umno. Someone called Datuk T and now known to all had produce a video alleging that it was Anwar. Some who even haven't seen or know the facts deny it was their hero. Why are they so fast to throw in their support as if Anwar can do no wrong? 1) He WITNESSED DSAI having sex in THAT ROOM THAT DAY... Or... DSAI CALLED HIM TO ARRANGE THE SEX SESSION.
2) HE WAS TOLD AND ARE MADE TO BELIEVE that it was DSAI... Also, was CONVINCED TO TELL OTHERS SO.
3) HE HAS ENOUGH EVIDENCES.
While even CLS's video showed a vague image... I know that at the moment, no spying device can get a DVD quality image yet, unless it is U.S military technology (Which gave the government away immediately), I can't see how Zaid, or even Datuk T can confirm that it is DSAI.
If the police cannot catch criminals based on vague CCTV images of robberies (as seen with so many cases in the whole of Malaysia, posted even in youtube); and if cases like Lingam's with a video of him committing the offence in HIS HOUSE being shown quite clearly and yet can still be brushed off with NO FURTHER ACTION; unless DSAI admitted it himself, else what other evidences does Zaid and Datuk T has to say that it IS INDEED DSAI?
WE CANNOT ACCEPT THAT DSAI IS GUILTY JUST BECAUSE YOU SAID SO... I think Mr. Zaid should know that better than us... Please don't try to mislead us in this case.

They are all the same. There's the wee-wee from Wangsa Maju. Now this Zaid whom at one time the readers of MT was calling PM material. But they are all the same. To me I see them as spineless. I hence present my following article with the hope that it will add to the understanding of this fast evolving drama.
There is one simple way to find out whether ‘Datuk T’s’ pornographic video showing a look-alike of Anwar Ibrahim is a hoax, and that is to go to Anwar’s face book from your own face book account and look for his entries at the time when the video was supposed to be recorded, which is 10:23pm to 10:45pm on Feb 21, 2011.
I just did that, and I found that anwar made entries on that day at 10:40pm, 10:49pm, 10:50pm, for which he received 9 comments, 17 comments, 8 comments respectively. And thereafter, he made another 7 entries, up till 11:028pm. The fact that Anwar was actually posting messages in face book at the relevant time clearly indicates that Anwar couldn’t have been doing what was indicated in the video.
As jokingly exclaimed by Anwar during the press conference on Mar 21, hours after the exposure of the video: How could he be carrying out the sex act and typing on his computer at the same time? Obviously, ‘Datuk T’ had neglected to look up Anwar’s face book before he launched his pornographic piece.
QUESTIONABLE TIME FRAME
Purely on a technical level, another question that puzzled me was: How could so many acts be compressed into the purported duration of 22 minutes as indicated in the video? Journalists who had viewed the video said that the love-making part lasted 17 minutes. This means that within the remaining 5 minutes, the following events had to be completed:
Pre-sex act:
· Anwar look-alike (Mr. X) walked into the room with the conductor who gave instruction to the prostitute who was already waiting there. The conductor left the room.
· The couple undressed.
· Woman went into the bathroom and took a bath, which should include wiping dry with a towel (the undressing and bathroom part of the video was skipped by ‘Datuk T’, but he said the woman took a bath).
Post-sex act:
· Mr.X wiped his lower part with tissue, and went into the bathroom to clean himself, which presumably included washing and wiping dry with a towel.

It should be obvious that when one tallies up the reasonable time allowed for completing each of these events, the total will far exceed 5 minutes. This conflict of time frames further undermines the credibility of the video clip.

‘Datuk T’ said that the sex romp took place in a Spa which provides sex in Kuala Lumpur.
Will anyone believe that opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim – who has been subjected incessantly to all sorts of cruel and unjust political persecution for the past 13 years, branded as enemy number one, for which the ruling power has been desperate to see that he is politically annihilated – would even condescend to walk into a place of such disrepute at the peak hours, where he would be instantly recognized by almost everyone present there, not to mention having sex with a prostitute in the same place? Haven’t ‘Datuk T’ and the plotters behind him overstretched their imagination, if they think the people would swallow such a story?
‘Datuk T’ also claimed that Anwar sent him to the room to look for his lost watch.
If Anwar had patronized a prostitute in the room, would he be so foolish as to send someone to the room to look for his watch? Wouldn’t that stupid act amount to a virtual confession to others what misdeed he had done there? And wouldn’t that confession spell the end of his political career? Who will believe that Anwar would value the watch more than his family, his political career and the destiny of his country and his people?
Despite the indefatigable effort of the ruling power to fix Anwar all these years, has it produced an iota of evidence of his political or moral misconduct, such as corruption, abuse of power, religious or moral sins?
If Anwar has shown none of these weaknesses, why should Malaysians believe ‘Datuk T’ in preference over Anwar, when what the former has displayed so far is nothing but crass acts of character assassination that serves the evil design of his political masters?
