Utusan Malaysia’s front-page headline is the most irresponsible act in history of Malaysian journalism

The Utusan Malaysia’s front-page headline today “Nama Guan Eng ganti Agong – Disebut dalam doa khutbah Jumaat: Umno Pulau Pinang bantah” is the most irresponsible act in the history of Malaysian journalism – utterly baseless, a mischievous and dangerous incitement to religious hatred, tension and discord in plural Malaysia and goes against all the principles and values espoused by 1Malaysia.

The first Merdeka month celebrations themed “1Malaysia Transforming the Nation” should celebrate Malaysia’s unity in diversity of ethnicity, religions, cultures and beliefs, the concepts of inclusiveness, social justice and the 1Malaysia principles of culture of excellence, integrity, wisdom, humility, loyalty and the twin commitments of People First, Performance Now.

But we have the opposite as illustrated by Utusan Malaysia’s front-page headline of falsehood and dangerous incitement to religious hatred, discord and tension.

The Penang State Government, through the Exco Member in charge of religious affairs Abdul Malik Abul Kassim has completely denied and refuted the allegation of the Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s name has replaced the Yang di Pertuan Agong’s name in the Friday sermon at several mosques in the state.

Abdul Malik said initial investigations showed no such incident had occurred as the text of the sermon, which is prepared by the state religious affairs department, never used Lim’s name.

As Abdul Malik said, whoever did such a thing was ‘insane’ (tidak waras) as no right thinking person would do it.

It is normal ,they simply cannot stand to see others taking leadership role in nation building ,to forge progress,prosperity and rid off corruption. Penang becoming a success is their nightmare . They cannot see others doing very well academically ,they put as much blocks as possible. They cannot see others despite concerted effort to hinder ,still manage to struggle and move ahead . There is intense hatred ,they must ensure everything is sabotaged. How did this built up hatred become part of them ? On the international front ,it is the same. What is pulling back this people ? They need to cast off this intense jealousy by turning inward ,embrace their own culture, not copycat the belligerent countries whose cultures are full of intense hatred and never stop blaming the rest of the world for their backwardness. No man of any religion will want a man of a different religion to pray for him. So it is not possible that LGE has requested the Imam to pray for him.

Seeing that this very sensitive issue has been quickly overblown by Zahid Hamidi and Utusan clearly exposes the culprit.

UMNO has been trying desperately to rock the Penang state government using foul tactics. But this sick tactic using the mosque is really low down - especially when it is done during the holy month of Ramadhan.

Actually, what transpired was, according to an eye witness at the mosque who understood Arabic, the imam asked God to open up Lim Guan Eng's heart so that he will embrace Islam and not as what Zajid or Utusan Malaysia alleged.

TV3 meanwhile interviewed several people who did not understand Arabic to justify what was published in Utusan.

Which reminds me of a verse in the Quran wherein God warns against spreading unfounded rumours.

"O believers. When a wicked person brings you any nnews, you shall investigate first before spreading it lest you hurt others through ignorance, then regeret what you have done." (49:6)

Thus, you can say that in the light of the Quran, both Zahid and those in Utusan, are in the eyes of God, described as the wicked (fasiq).

Utusan Malaysia has always subscribed to their ideology this country belongs to the Malays and their kind only. And they have the politicians in Putrajaya to tag along that line. Then with the likes of Mahathir, Ahmad Ismail and that Perkasa goon, they all make the whole gang bang that Malaysia is exclusively their domain only. Of course all the other squatters like the Chinese, Indians and the natives of Sabah and Sarawak are handed out small freebies like they are beggars.
