Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad

For an event with only two outcomes, there is a 50-50 chance of it happening either way. So you would have thought. Consequently, many wanted the verdict of 9 February of the country’s top judges in the apex court to reflect that logical outcome. More so in a constitutional impasse that has drawn attention of the entire nation, nay the entire world.

But wouldn’t it be a wishful thinking to have ever thought that MB Nizar would win? Yes, perhaps very much, given the state of our very-much-to-be-desired judiciary. But in a not-so-clear-a-case like this acrimonious debate, you still harbour a little hope for a close call at least.

When the federal court returned a verdict of a thrashing 5-0 win to MB Zambry, you can’t blame the many that have alleged that the law has truly become an ass. I could still recall MB Nizar wanted a full 9-member bench. The country has just been saved from being humiliated the greatest shame of the century with a 9-0 verdict!

In the same vein, imagine the battle of two titans in a world cup with an outcome of 5-0 win. Now imagine a 9-0 win. Mind-shattering, too bizarre! That’s exactly the state of affairs in our beloved country right now, Mr PM. Beleaguered.

It’s most pathetic to have heard the premier asking Pakatan to accept the court’s verdict and move on. That truly was your knee-jerk response as usual, nothing really got higher up beyond your brain-stem. You have ‘to say something’ each time and you did. But true leaders have really ‘something to say’, regrettably, you didn’t.

We shall wait in anticipation, for the time when the rakyat will one day be telling you to just accept the verdict of the election, Najib ie your defeat, and move on. It may not be the next 13th GE as yet. But it could well be. You and your First Lady must pack your bag and get out of Putrajaya.

I suggest we just repeal Clause 16(6), and hand over the state to the throne so that the Sultan can live happily ever after.

There could have been a 3rd outcome. The panel of judges could have considered the entire fiasco as untenable given the wishes of the rakyat were unceremoniously denied, and their trust shattered, all by some shady and questionable moves or hops by 3 frogs. Therefore, in view of that, the court could have ordered the mandate be returned to the rakyat of Perak. The Sultan may have the say in who he wants to appoint as MB, but it is the people who chooses the state govt. And if the Sultan insists on Zambry being being the MB, let him do that after a new state election. if he can win. that is.

At least that would be much more of justice being served.

'You have ‘to say something’ each time and you did. But true leaders have really ‘something to say’, regrettably, you didn’t..'

Why not just slap it bluntly on him. Here's the famous line from the Greek philosopher, Plato.

'Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something.'

Here is mine.
'Wise men think before they do something; fools, after they do it.'

This recent decision by the 5 federal judges has set a dangerous precedent! The MB or whichever leader, must be decided by the people, never by the courts, never by the Sultans. That verdict is unacceptable! Call for fresh state elections now! Umno can still win back Perak by massive cheating, threatening the voters... vote bn or else, i will cut off your genitals. I heard some voters were threatened during the Bagan Pinang by-elections. these simple folks, sangat takut. so what the hell, take the RM100 and vote umno!

The Law? What law? There is no law but Umno's Law. The judgement is decided, and if we're honest about it, known to all before a case ever goes to court, as in we all know that Anwar will be found guilty of sodomy (which is no crime) when all is said and done.

Great article.
The question was very appropriate. The Perakaian denied their rights to their government has accept the jack ass overiding ruling with no violence. Will PM step down when the time comes to hand over power soon?

You say "The intervention of the royal household indeed invited scorn from Malaysians and subsequently embroiled the Monarch and the palace into disrepute". Yes, couldn't agree more.
The whole Monarch brand has been damaged, yet again. If they want to be embroiled in politics, they should step out and join a party. Otherwise, they will disrepected and held in suspicion of their motives by more rakyat. They must be above the fray, like the British queen - learn from their model.

I hope great articles are translated to Malay for more learned Malay to understand the truth of the matter.

The right thing for the court to do is to decide that the Raayat must give a fresh mandate through re-election.

Such simple exercise of justice also cannot do! What type of courts do we have in place?

It is really a shame and sham!

Dear Dr Zul, I beg to differ. It is not the law that has become an ass but the administrators of the law that are asses. Even the people can judge the asses now because of the ridiculous decisions made by them in favour of their poliitcal masters. Fret not, we may have lost the battle but the war has just begun and shall culminate with the removal of BN/UMNO in GE13. And then we shall send all these asses to their rightful place which is in the garbage bin.

DR Zul, Malaysia has never had leaders of substance apart from TUnku Abdul Rahaman. Anwar became more widely accepatable after his six year inceration. Dr Mahathir held court briefly but then we began to see through his charade. Tengku Razaleigh would make a good pm.

And Najib? Najib is there as a puppet of Dr Mahathir and co. Never in our history has a leader been so tainted, lacking in calibre, a womaniser, corrupt and worse constantly hounded over involvement in a murder. Sometimes it gets so revolting I can';t bear to look at his face. knowing each time he speaks, out come nothing but lies, lies and more lies. Yes again we have lost another battle. How do you fight bare hands against a gun? The answer is in the ballot box.

for a fleeting moment, a country held its breath for justice. and in the same amount of time, it got blown away. all agree it would have been too much to expect given the long years of being mired.

How come when Allah was "commonized" no asked the Church-Burners to accept it and Move On? Some idiot said, "There's nothing we can do..." instead?

UMNO, Jump off the 14th floor !
