India, apparently is a country which has made the "mistake of being too democratic". And, "democracy can be a hindrance to progress because you spend so much time politicking that you don’t have time to develop your country. In China, there’s not much politics. So, they can spend more time developing their country.”

Those are statements attributed to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in a IANS report as quoted by Malaysia Today on Tuesday.

I love it when Dr M is being philosophical. Because he makes philosophy, especially political philosophy, interesting. Interesting in a comedic way, I mean.

First and foremost, to put China and India in the same political sphere is an act of questionable wisdom.

India is a parliamentary republic deeply entrenched within the Westminster-typed democracy as practised in the United Kingdom. Malaysia, which was governed by Dr M, practises the Westminster-typed democracy as well, save for the fact that we are not a republic.

China, on the other hand, is not a democratic country at all. It is a communist country. The people have no freedom of speech or at all. They kill their own people for having the guts to stand up and be counted. The so-called leaders do things according to their own whims and fancies. The people just have to accept. There is not election. No voting. No nothing.

(The only good thing about China's administration is the fact that they shoot their civil servants for corruption.)

Dr M must have confused China with Malaysia during his days as the Prime Minister. Save for the fact that Malaysia is not a communist country and we do not shoot our civil servants for corruption, of course.

Would someone strap a bomb to themselves and blow up those bloody corrupts. It's alright. Just toss a bomb is fine. No reason to sacrifice anyone if unnecessary.

First and foremost my sincere apology to all the MT readersif I've offended anyone. Pleased show some respects to our elders without any insulting name calling like Mamakuty etc. What's the different if we don't show the respect to elders like the UMNO guys. Everyone is entitle to their opinion. If we don't agree to their view, we can argue to the points with much respect. I know who I'm here to give advice as I don't have a good education background, but one word I know is 'RESPECT'.

the problem is not the system, it is the person running (or more like abusing) the system. Mr. Ex-PM just managed to make George Bush looks like he is the cleverest man on earth.

Well, for a start, if we want to Look East to China, start shooting the civil servant for corruption (this time next year, there will be no more democracy cos all MPs would be dead by then). and, of course, the Mamak family can looking into donating their ill-gotten wealth back into society cos they will all be dead too - Malaysia's No. 1 family (in terms of corruption).

And this is a message for the mamak's daughter, marina - stop showing off and look around to see if people are staring at you when you are out shopping - malaysia is a muslim country, we don't like to see a big piece of lard walking around!

They more than a dozen major languages and maybe a few hundred dialects. They do not fight about their education system because the parents decide which school to send their children to. They did it democratically without any Ops Lalang being used. So Mamathir has a problem if he is not able to handle a democratic way of life! It is not the problem of democracy.
