Feel that religion is just a fast track way to try to define what 'doing the right thing' is. A lot of common sense needs to be used to interpret it to make the best of it for all fellow human beings. Once a faith (believe without proof) starts to make another group feel uncomfortable, i feel that it has crossed the line and the ugly side of the human heart has surfaced.... Nik Aziz - I respect you for your deep understanding of humanity and your courage to walk the talk.

In two short sentences, Nik Abdul Aziz of PAS out classed UMNO on wisdom, consideration and compassion.

Only religious bigots like those in UMNO dare unnecessary agitate and intimidate in the name of religion.

Amazing. I'm impressed.
Now, I expect the Perkasa, UMNO Youth, etc to start barking again. UMNO will say the same things too, if they want to add to the fire.
Then MCA will say: No, we LIKE the prayer. The MIC will say: We, wake up earlier than the muslims.
Then Mahatir will say: I saw a Jew last night.
And, the psy-war goes on again.

Tok Guru is a wise man and his advise has justification...sound and saheeh

Just to share this...

Loudspeakers should not be used outside the mosque for the prayer - http://www.nidur.info/in-engli...the-prayer

Imam Maalik (may Allaah have mercy on him) narrated in al-Muwatta’ (17smilies/cool.gif, from Sharh al-Zarqaani in Baab al-‘Aml fi’l-Qiraa’ah (How Qur’aan is to be recited) from al-Bayaadi Farwah ibn ‘Amr – may Allaah be pleased with him – that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went out to the people when they were praying, and their voices were loud in recitation,

And he said: " A worshipper is conversing with his Lord, so let him think about the One with Whom he is conversing. Do not raise your voices above one another when reciting Qur’aan."

Abu Dawood (1332) narrated, under the heading, "Raising the voice when reciting Qur’aan in night prayers" that Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri – may Allaah be pleased with him – said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) observed i’tikaaf in the mosque and he heard them raising their voices in reciting Qur’aan.

He drew back the curtain and said: "Each of you is conversing with his Lord, so do not disturb one another, and do not raise your voices above one another in reciting Qur’aan – or in prayer." Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr said: The hadeeths of al-Bayaadi and Abu Sa’eed are both sound and saheeh.

These two hadeeths show that it is forbidden to raise one's voice in reciting Qur’aan in prayer to such an extent that it disturbs others, and that this is a nuisance and is forbidden.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Majmoo’ al-Fataawa (23/61): No one has the right to raise his voice so much when reciting out loud that he disturbs others, such as other worshippers.

In an answer he gave in al-Fataawa al-Kubra (1/350) he said: Whoever does anything that disturbs the people in the mosque, or does anything that will lead to that, should be stopped.

With regard to the excuses offered by those who raise their voices, that may be answered in two ways:

1 – The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade people to raise their voices above one another in reciting Qur’aan, and explained that this causes annoyance.

It is well known that the believer has no option and cannot ignore the ruling of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

"It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allaah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision.

And whoever disobeys Allaah and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed into a plain error"
[al-Ahzaab 33:36]

You be the judge.

Shalom.

Nik Aziz a man of great wisdom.

Non Muslims never had any problems with the Azan, its the other matters broadcast over the loudspeakers for hours that irritate the people.

For the remembrance of universal values upon this holy day, free and peaceful peoples declared 23 February as “World Islam Day”, emphasizing universal values such as justice, law, brotherhood, peace, security, and faith.

The Last Sermon - The Farewell Sermon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Farewell_Sermon

The Last Sermon (Khutbah) was given by Prophet Muhammad.

•Inspired by a verse of the Holy Koran (Koran, Mâide 3), he said: “Today I brought your religion a completion for you and I chose Islam for you“ Islam religion was actually completed.

•The Last Sermon emphasises basic human rights, not only rights for Muslims, but for all mankind.

•The Prophet Muhammad asked that this holy message be spread from those who heard to those who did not hear.

•The faithful consider the Prophet Muhammad presented a gift to mankind on that day.

The Last Sermon, which is the summary and completion announcement of Islam, is a major step for mankind, presented to not only Muslims but all mankind.

More so....during this fasting month of Ramadan.

You be the judge.

Shalom.

Reminds of the time when as new weds and a child on the way the nearby surau would startle us awake at unnatural hours with first the powerful speakers being switched on, then the Haji would clear his throat noisily, followed dramatically with him saying "testing-testing-testing (or 1,2,3)" followed then by the singing.

It was always worse when Pakistani and Arab Hajis came visiting. The speakers would be turned on all evening and into the wee hours as they explain 'presumably' the Koran. No body slept then. It was impossible.

Thank God, we have a little more money and are now in 'better' neighbourhood.

Dear Tok Guru is a man of vision for progressive Islam.. UMNO Islam will use this as usual for votes with their bigotry but cannot substantiate facts written in the Koran. I by accident scrolled to RTM news overseas and this was featured prominently to demonize dear TG.
May my dear Tok Guru be always blessed !!

He is right . We should be caring to all and avoid disturbing others by our faith. Noise is one , and the other is littering during this hungry ghost festival . One can surely practice one's belief without disturbing our neighbors. I have seen some believers cleaning up and hosing down the ashes after the burnt offering. This is right and all who wants to practice it should clean up.

All messages of Islam are simple and does not disturb the community. TG Nik Aziz is expressing this truth at the risk of losing some political support. But I believe more people will support him.
