Muhyiddin may now be challenged to state his stand on Islam. He has passed a remark that appears to be a challenge to Islam. Muhyiddin may have to categorically declare whether he accepts or rejects Islam and the laws that come with it.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
The level of campaigning in the Tenang by-election has been reduced somewhat. It is now about the wearing of gloves and the chopping of hands.
The MCA President, Chua Soi Lek, ridicules the opposition candidate because she shakes hands while wearing gloves. The Queen (of England, that is) also does the same. In fact, the Queen Mother was once criticised for taking off her gloves before she shook hands. It is considered most unlady-like to do that. And the late Lady Diana too wore gloves. There is also an archive of her glove collection, which you can see here:
http://www.operagloves.com/Royals/Diana/diana.html
So, yes, the ladies of English Royalty would not be caught dead without their gloves. And there is a healthy debate amongst the English public as to whether the ladies of English society should or should not wear gloves when shaking hands (just Google it and you will be taken to these debate sites). And most are of the opinion that if they are ladies then they should wear gloves.
But the MCA President would probably not understand this because he does not consort with ladies. And ‘ladies of the night’ are not quite what I mean when I say ladies. ‘Ladies of the night’ are…well, you know what I mean if you were to watch his action-packed videos. I really do not need to elaborate on this matter.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Muhyiddin Yassin, in turn, ridicules the opposition on the cutting of hands. He is actually not criticising PAS, the party from which the opposition candidate comes from, as much as he is criticising Islam.
This quip may come back to haunt him as it did Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who made a remark about the Prophet Muhammad’s beard. Until today this remark by Dr Mahathir refuses to go away and even Umno admits that this was probably one of the gravest mistakes he ever made -- making fun of the Prophet’s appearance.
The Deputy Prime Minister will of course be asked to explain his statement. And if I were PAS I would not allow this statement to pass unchallenged.
What did Muhyiddin mean when he said that if PAS were to come to power they would chop of your hands? Is he saying that all Malaysians are thieves and robbers and there is not an honest soul left in Malaysia?
First of all, is this proper and correct Islamic law? Is Muhyiddin saying that the chopping of hands does not exist in Islamic law? Or is he saying that it does exist but he does not accept it and rejects Islamic law?
This, he needs to explain. He needs to tell us whether he disputes the existence of the law or he accepts the existence of the law but rejects its implementation.
It is one thing to make fun of PAS. It is another to make fun of Islam. Malays are extremely sensitive about their race and religion, sometimes to an extreme. Muhyiddin may be seen as making fun of Islam rather than making fun of PAS. He is walking on very thin ice here.
Muhyiddin may now be challenged to state his stand on Islam. He has passed a remark that appears to be a challenge to Islam. Muhyiddin may have to categorically declare whether he accepts or rejects Islam and the laws that come with it.
Of course, there is always one way out for Muhyiddin, so all is not lost. He can declare that the chopping of hands does not exist in Islam and that is why he spoke out against it and made fun of it. He can state that the Hudud laws never came from God and was merely a creation of man. He can quote verses from the Quran that argue against the Hadith. Muhyiddin can declare that all Hadith are false and were fabricated by enemies of Islam who wanted to corrupt Islam and mislead the people.
If Muhyiddin were to argue this then he could probably counter whatever PAS may say about him. Declare all Hadith as false and opposed to real Islamic teachings. Declare that the Quran never laid down the cutting of hands and those who propagate this are spreading false teachings of Islam. Declare that the Islamic law of Hudud was a law that was fabricated hundreds of years after the Prophet and were not what the Prophet taught Muslims.
Then maybe Muhyiddin will be able to counter any criticism to his remarks.
And I can only conclude by saying good luck.

whats so great about him asking his house to be demolished after his death? i doubt anybody will pay to visit LKY's house. it is just a manifest of his selfish self - he just does'nt want anybody to live in the house he and his family once lived.
LKY is a like an umnoputra but very intelligent and smart, nothing else.
and please abstain your self from comparing him with Nehru or Shakespeare or Gandhi!
go to London, see Dickens house or to Kangarooland( I like them!) and see Capt. Cooks house;
are they in shambles?
appropo, does Singapore need more highrise flats? would it not be logical to introduce compulsory contraception and control the population like big brother China does?
don't worry lah, I also endorse his achievements. keep the lid on, not everything about him is wunderbar!
about 'Chua Soi Lek and the gloves' episode;
he was thinking about 'French Gloves' lah, forgive him for this small mix-up please!

So far, we can't remember hearing even a single umNO being convicted of thievery or robbery.,as though all of them are angels.
We fully support the law, so that after its implementation whereby offenders hands are chopped off, we can prove a point that ALL OF THEM ARE THIEVES OR ROBBERS.

So the lady wants to follow her religion and use gloves to shake hands. Whats the problem? Chua Soi Lek's brains must be in his dick, that's the problem. UMNO said that Chinese women are prostitutes or children of prostitutes and Chua Soi Lek still wants to support UMNO!!! Chua Soi Lek is just a selfish A*****e that is just looking after his own arse.

I am a non-Muslim Malaysian, actually a devout Hindu. But I have read (& am still reading) books on all religions & philosphies. Islam, like almost all 'old' religions, have good, beautiful meanings.....something the world today needs. It's only the rulers/politicians over the years who have abused & sacriledged religion for their own power/greed needs.
People...go back to the basics....learn what the real Islam, Christianity & Hinduism etc. etc. teaches & we will have a better world.

CSL talk about “glove” as he has no more important topic to address.
Those UMNO goons talk about “chop hand”, it’s to frighten others and also to save their own hands.
Those crooks will lose everything once they lost power. Without power they are worse of than scum.

SINGAPORE – Singapore's elder statesman Lee Kuan Yew wants his family home torn down for redevelopment after he dies instead of being turned into a historical shrine.
In excerpts from a new book launched Friday, Lee said he had already instructed the government to destroy the British colonial-era bungalow situated off the premier Orchard Road shopping belt after his death.
"I've told the Cabinet, when I'm dead, demolish it," the 87-year-old Lee, who now advises his son Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, said in remarks published by the daily Straits Times.
"I've seen other houses, Nehru's, Shakespeare's. They become a shambles after a while," he said, the former referring to India's independence hero Jawaharlal Nehru.
The newspaper's parent company Singapore Press Holdings is publishing the book "Lee Kuan Yew: Hard Truths to Keep Singapore Going", based on exclusive interviews with Lee by Straits Times journalists.
The famously frank and unsentimental Lee described his home - built more than a century ago by a Jewish merchant - as "a big rambling house with five bedrooms and three others at the back" and cracks in the walls.
Lee, who gave the interviews before his wife Kwa Geok Choo died in October last year, said his family would not miss the house, which he has owned since the 1940s.
"I don't think my daughter or my wife or I, who lived in it, or my sons who grew up in it, will bemoan its loss. They have old photos to remind them of the past," he said.
Key meetings of what would become the ruling People's Action Party met in the house's basement to plot strategy during its formative years, the newspaper reported.
The PAP has ruled Singapore since 1959, when the island gained self-rule from Britain, and its overwhelming majorities have allowed it to plan orderly successions thanks to its nearly total control of parliament.
Under Lee, who served as prime minister from 1959 to 1990 and led Singapore to independence from Malaysia in 1965, the city-state underwent an economic miracle, at the same time maintaining a hardline policy on political dissent.
He was pragmatic about the house's economic value.
"Because of my house the neighbouring houses cannot build high. Now demolish my house and change the planning rules, go up, the land value will go up," he said in the interviews.
Speaking at the launch of the book Friday, Lee, who now holds the title of Minister Mentor, said that Singapore remained "a nation in the making", despite its rapid rise to prosperity.
"I do not deceive myself for one moment that our differences of race, culture, language, religion, have disappeared," Lee said, urging Singaporeans to preserve racial and religious harmony.
"The message I want to convey is a simple one: we are a nation in the making. Will we make it? Am I certain we'll get there? No, we cannot say that. Something may go wrong somewhere and we'll fall apart," he said.
Singapore, which prides itself on its political stability, has a predominantly Chinese population, with minority races including Malays and Indians plus a growing foreign community now comprising one-fifth of the population of five million.
"You have a nation like China or Japan, China can be ravaged, demolished but the people come together again and rebuild. I'm not sure if Singapore were damaged, ravaged and demolished, they could ever come together again," said Lee.
"So this precious, accidental, improbable, unlikely nation that we have created should be nurtured, carefully strengthened and built upon."

Moohyiddin (lembu), I propose a simple suggestion for your lembu thinking head; if you doubt or disagree with the teaching of Islam, just denounce it to satisfy your soul. Habis cerita. You will not do it because you are worried of being deprived of the premiership (a Muslim?) after stabbing Najis and Bik Mama in the back?
