This is the reason why we should not blindly vote for Pakatan Rakyat. As much as we may want change and would like to see Barisan Nasional ousted, Pakatan Rakyat has to earn our votes, not expect to get it without any effort. I want to start by demanding an apology from those 20 Pakatan Rakyat Parliamentarians who are earning their salary without working for it. Then, and only then, will we consider whether they are worthy of our votes.

Fright for BN as Budget passed by 66-63 votes
It was fright night for the BN as the national Budget was passed by a wafer-thin 66-63 majority in Parliament last night.
That’s 48 per cent attendance for the BN MPs and a 77 per cent turnout for the Pakatan reps.
Najib and Ong Tee Keat reportedly had to rush to Parliament to vote – and this was for their “1Malaysia Prosperity for All” Budget.
The Malaysian Insider has the story here (Najib’s budget passed by a narrow 66-63 vote).
It just goes to show how much importance these missing MPs place in Parliament when they can be absent during such a crucial debate and vote.

Tapah MP saves the day for BN
Tapah member of parliament M Saravanan turned saviour for the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday with his vote ensuring the approval of the Supply Bill 2010, better known as Budget 2010.
The drama began late last night when the Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia called for voting for the passing of the bill, deemed to be an important component of the government's expenditure for next year.
The ruling coalition managed to get the bill approved with a one-vote majority, 64 against 63 votes of the opposition bloc, thanks to Saravanan's late-minute vote.
"I had a function to attend in the city last night. During the event, I got a call from someone in Parliament asking me to rush to Dewan and that a voting is being conducted in the Supply Bill.
"It was about 10.40pm when I managed to relieve myself from the function and rushed to Parliament.
"I was in the nick of the time as the Speaker allowed me to cast my vote. To my relief later I learnt that the Bill was passed by a single vote majority," Saravanan, who is also Federal Territories and Urban Well-being deputy minister, told Malaysiakini when contacted.
Najib was called back too
He also thanked his lucky stars, because the function he attended was close-by to the Parliament, enabling him to rush to the Dewan Rakyat within minutes after getting the alert.
The failure to pass the Bill, which is basically the 2010 government budget, would have resulted in the ruling coalition needing to retable the entire budget, resulting in throwing a spanner in the works of development projects planned by the ruling government.
It would also have been as major embarrassment for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who were both in the Dewan Rakyat until late yesterday, as this could have been the first budget not passed by Parliament in the nation's history.
Both Najib and Muhyiddin too had to rush to the Parliament to ensure the budget was approved in their favour.

Can you believe this?!!!!
And PR wants us to believe in their struggle for a change? This is the result of PR's complacency. Keep up this lackadaisical attitude and PR will lose its support and will be history.
This is why I never really liked PR - I would rather one opposition under one banner and vote for them - PKR if they stood alone without the others existing and splitting votes.

77% of the Opposition MPs were there to vote. That is high compared to the low figure of 48% of Government MPs.
I see nothing horribly wrong in some of the MPs being absent - RPK being RPK is just making more noises than he should and all of you are jumping on his bandwagon simply because RPK hollered!
MPs have duties in their own constituencies. The Opposition MPs' lack of financial support makes things a lot harder for them in carrying out their duties. Many of them work late into the evenings. Give them a break!

No one expect them to be there 24/7. But by not attending such important event. What sort of leaders do you think they'll make? This shows that they don't give a damn about the country's affairs.
written by avancc, December 17, 2009 04:43:29
Lets say if Opposition MP's number exceeded BN's MP... U think the vote will be passed? I don't think so... I'm sure the vote will be re-called again and again... Unless of course if the BN MP's were overseas... They'll either "tangguh" the proceeding, or... re-read the budget again...
Then this time, they will ensure all BN MPs are around when they start voting again.
So... Fair or not? I still put mu thumb down for them...

Next time, not only full attendance but do it quietly - should not let Nazri know that something is cooking!!! Just go for a drink somewhere near the parlimen and show up just in time to vote. Some times you must know pretend to play dead and strike it when their guard is down. Good luck PR.

Having said all that, it did scare the daylight out of BN. We need someone like Nazri in PR to kick some butts in PR.
TheMalaysiaInsider's reports:
"Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, stressed that BN lawmakers have to be more careful and must take this matter seriously.
“I think now they have to be careful because nothing can be taken for granted now. This is a different parliament and I hope the MPs will take their jobs seriously on both sides. So I hope this a lesson for all.
“This is the second time and this is more frightening because it involves the Budget bill. So I hope this matter will awaken the MPs especially from Barisan Nasional so they seriously take their responsibility to attend the parliament,” he told reporters in the Parliament lobby here.
The BN deputy added that there was nothing he could do as the lawmakers had been informed.
“They are all very important people and they have been informed to attend the Parliament. If they want more than that then maybe they can give me a gun and I will place it near their head. If they don’t come then I will shoot them. That will show that I am doing my work,” he added."

As we know most BN MPs - 52% did not bother to turn up. (we know who you are)
So for the NEXT GE - we need more Pakatan Rakyat Parliamentarians to back up the 23% of those who could not make it due to the the reasons like Gobind , as he is still under the ban or Ibrahim Ali ( he is pro umno ).

Seriously, after looking at the whole picture yet again, unemotionally, it looks like its time to migrate.
With a competent Pakatan Rakyat alternative, Malaysia had hope, not much hope, but enough for us to work on and re-build Malaysia, like a phoenix rising from its ashes. Now that Pakatan Rakyat is so INEPT as to have so many MPs absent at this most important session, things are starting to look hopelessly bleak for Malaysia, for even if we hand the reins of power to Pakatan Rakyat, can INEPT idiots like these run and lead Malaysia ??
Of course Barisan Najis is a no-no for certain as that is the ROAD TO DESTRUCTION by CORRUPTION, but it is starting to look like the Pakatan Rakyat route is also a ROAD to DESTRUCTION through INEPTITUDE & IGNORANCE ... sigh ... will there be a Malaysia in 20 years' time ?? Maybe I should invest in an orchard and start practising swinging from trees ...

THEY SHOULD know very well the timetable of BUDGET motions and should re-adjust their personal schedules to suit.
Also remember that being in Opposition, most of them are not busy as compared to the UMNO BN regime MPs who are in power and busy stuffing themselves with the rakyats money through the passing of the budgets which ensures they have big projects for themselves.
SO IT IS ONLY RIGHT THAT FOR ONCE A BUDGET MOTION BE DEFEATED, HOWEVER GOOD IT MAY SEEMS TO THE COUNTRY.. because all these budgets are mostly for the benefits of UMNO and their cronies..
For all my life, i have been hearing budgets after budgets and until now as i write my comments here, I cannot mention any budget that was uselful for me. All i can see is my salary being deducted heavily to taxes, something like 3 months salary per year, the money that i really need for myself.

I think we the Rakyat have to step up our pressure and start to think about a 3rd force. You see, in purchasing we are required to ask for 3 quotations. This is because if we have only one, or two quotations, we cannot really ensure sufficient competition among the suppliers. Therefore we the customers run a higher risks being taken advantage of. Worse still if the two suppliers who quote know each other and play us out.
Similarly to ensure the Rakyat's interest are well protected, we cannot rely only on two parties, especially so when democracy is immature and the MPs do not yet have first-class mentality like in developed nations. So, I think we need a third force. Even Britain has their Lib Dem, apart from Tories and Labour.
Sir, please can provide your thoughts on my suggestion above.

We, the rakyaat of Malaysia who voted the PR MPs demand that those who are absent appologise to us within 48 hours.
If they failed to do so, we will not again vote for those PR reps who are absent if they are again choosen to contest in the next election!

We cannot blindly give our support and votes to Pakatan, and it was not just because of non attendance in the parliament. That may be a trivial matter. Pakatan has come to take our support and votes for granted, thinking we have no other choice. That seriously needs to be addressed. In fact, we have to make that clear to Pakatan right away.

I also wonder whether the 'Puteri Reformasi' was present in parliament. Her contributions in Parliament and to her constituency in Bangsar and Pantai Dalam has been noteworthy by its absence. What has she been doing?
