We work overtime without extra pay. We are neglecting our families to attend to others. We have to be clean, stay clean and appear to be clean every second. We will be scolded like dogs if we happen to make one mistake – there’s not really a chance for us to explain anything.

By Tohkong Mosjid

Because of one wrong word, we are slapped and threatened to be sacked.

We can't take medical leave even when we are sick. We still need to crawl to work even though we are sick.

When we are being harassed by others, we are not being protected, instead we are labelled as idiots because we are being investigated. He even chided us as stupid when we were framed by the authorities controlled by his old company.

No one comes to help when we are assaulted while doing our assignments. Our family too was harassed when we were maliciously accused of some evil acts that we didn't do.

We are worse than slaves.

When some of our subordinates leave the company for better offers from his old company, he blames it on our mismanagement even though sometimes he knows that it was a form of sabotage from his old company.

If it is not because of a "promise", we would have changed our jobs by now. Why should we put our family and ourselves through this hell life?

We care about our boss' company’s future, but does our boss really care about us? We are working around the clock to make sure the company is profitable despite the unfriendly business environment, yet our boss keeps comparing us with his old company and say we are not up to par.

He does not show any appreciation to our sacrifices at all. All the good things that we have done, he treats it like nothing because to him, that's what he is hiring us for. One simple mistake or word, he'll keep harping on it like there's no tomorrow -- even though you tried your best to correct your mistakes, he'll still keep harping on them without mercy.

He forgets we are just ordinary humans, we need encouragement too. He should stop treating us like geniuses who know everything since birth. We are not; we need to learn and cope. We make mistakes like others, but please give us enough time to grieve and rise back on our feet again.

We need mistakes to know that it is wrong to do things a particular way. Encouragement and proper appreciation is what we ask for - is that so hard to get from our boss?

Our boss is a very demanding man. He expects us to be like saints. He started this company because his previous company was a total disaster. Due to his own naivety, his old company’s employees no longer listened to him and kicked him out after his employees managed to take control of the board of directors.

Being left disappointed and full of vengeance, he started a new one to rival his old company, and hired us to do what his previous company couldn't.

He expects us to be perfect. He expects us to know how to run everything like his ex-employees. He expects all of us to be incorruptible. He wants us to feel indebted because we are given a job.

We are given the task to take over the market share of his previous company of 50 years in 5 years. He does not give us any flexibility. Every mistake seems punishable by death. If we ask for help, he will insult us for not being competent.

He said he took a very high risk hiring us as we have yet to prove ourselves to be as capable as his previous company's employees. But he did nothing to help the company – he only knows how to whine when things are not going well.

He just wants to have his 3 meals a day intact. He wants to make sure his family’s future is secured. But, he is unwilling to sacrifice his time to make his company better. He is expecting us to achieve miracles without bothering his and his family’s future. He forgets that we can do so much more with his support and not his nagging.

Oh yeah, ssshhhh, let me tell you a secret about our boss. His name is "Rakyat Malaysia".

Dear Fellow Rakyat Malaysian,

We have to start comparing PR and BN to a common denominator. Subconsciously, we are comparing Pakatan Rakyat to a saint, and Barisan Nasional to a devil. This has to stop, because this is outrageously unfair.

When PR and BN makes the same mistake, often we feel more disappointed with PR rather than with BN. To us, for BN to make those mistakes is rather common, after all we do not call them devils for nothing. But sadly towards PR, we feel disgusted of the same mistake because to us, a saint can do no wrong.

PR has been fighting very hard for us for the last 19 months. Yes, there were some unhappy moments, but we have had some very happy ones too. Even friendship has their ups and downs, right? Why must we keep focusing on those unhappy moments while conveniently forgetting about those happy ones? Or are we saying that PR is our friend only when they are making us happy? And they are forever our enemy because they make us sad even for once?

We have to stop giving pressure to PR, they have more than enough pressure to deal with with BN’s constant attacks. PR has no one to ask for help, besides us. The police, MACC, judiciary, SPRM and corrupted civil servants are all treating PR as enemies. We are their only friends. If we turn our backs on PR now, they will be eaten alive by BN sooner than we think.

With the strong backing from us, BN will have a harder time to alienate PR. Our support is the only protecting shield PR has. We can’t remove this shield from them until we can make sure there’s an even playing field out there for them to compete with BN. We were the ones who created this uneven field with our blind support to BN for 50 years. PR has sacrificed a lot for us, and now when they are down, it is our turn to back them up.

Yes, PR is our employee, but more importantly PR is also our only friend and ally against the evil regime BN. We can help shield PR from constant harassment by giving more and more support instead of threatening them that we’ll return to BN. That’s what a good boss and a good friend will do in times of need. But are we mature enough to do so?

I think PR has to start cleaning off all the rubbish after two years. By now the leaders should know who are the good ones and who are the bad ones. Time for DAP, PKR and PAS to look very carefully who are those who only want to perform to get some dirty RM later by being frogs. Frogs in Malaysia cost alot to the Gorv.,(our money). Getting rich instantly by jumping over is easy money. PR be strict about the whole thing. Start the house cleaning now.

the trouble is that PR has inherited 52 years of BN rule and now has to slowly get rid of the sh*t. The public on the other hand feels that all this sh*t should be gone overnight once PR is in business without even having a thought that such problems takes years to sort out and some like the kg Buah Pala can never be reversed. So the choice as i can see is very clear either to continue clearing up the 52 years of accumulated rubbish or let new rubbish start piling up again after the next election!!! The choice is your to make.smilies/wink.gifsmilies/wink.gifsmilies/wink.gif

Just give full support to PR first to topple BN at federal government level than only we can compare. After all, BN is not good to us.

Well written and right on the money. But, somehow I have a feeling rakyat Malaysia just love to take it in the back. Hopefully, this will help keep PR supporters in track again with mission to remove BN from power.

This was indeed touching and really in our heart.

When Hanna yeoh and others cried, we can see how much they are scared and hurt,
When Nat Explained how his coleagues are suffering when others didnt want the job,
When we have BN rampaging into Goverments without Giving a damn,
When rules no longer apply and Death came to Teoh beng Hock,
When even the Sultan kicks out the MB & Entire exco seems helpless,
When all those shouting & screaming in Parliament fell on deaf ears,
when molotov cocktails are thrown at homes, MPs being ISA-ed,
When its not easy to be an opposition member in malaysia..

people still dont give a damn, after march 2008 we can see how everyone has got their own demands and request and if PR does not follow its Rant & rave!

For example is naragan e-mail regarding the klang shooting,
The issue was raised, but the MPs didnt walkout because of the motion rejection made him mad like hell and he warns that no indian votes will go to PR because they didnt walk out of parliament!!!

can you believe that?

MCA is fighting like mad, worse than any party in malaysian history but does anyone care? nobody!!!
Gerakan has all chinese MPs and aduns, but are they termed racist? No ut Dap with Karpal are labelled chinese racist, 24 Million dollar mansion not checked but rm 2400 is checked, NIk aziz want to pray in mekah also cannot... adun cannot even sleep at home peacefully, scared will be photographed, go to mosque can be arrested, when put poster in batu caves frontpage Murtad MP, when Najib got big poster in Batu caves thats 1malaysia. DAP Haram, PKR Pengkhianat melayu, PAS Dengki...

at this rate, malaysians should go back to pre-march 2008 and keep crying another 50 years!!
serves you right. You want to talk big, join and fight next GE! If not let them do the work!

It only takes one person (clerk) in the bank to do what 4 clerks do at the Post Office, Syabas collection centre, JPJ road tax and licensing department.

Worse still signatories are not available in public sectors to approve and to raise greivances.

A simple matter takes hours and or days to be completed at public sectors. Visit some of the foreign banks (all Malaysian employed) and you can expect deliveries within hours and or days.

Indeed - public sector is a waste of rakyats taxes.

You had your time wasting away during BN reign. Now the rakyat are paying your salary. It is not BN or PR. Work for your decent income and support the government of the day and not as an 'abc' for BN Toyol. Anyone caught passing information to Toyol must be severly punished and terminated from the job. How may hours did you spend idling away as tea breaks, lunch hours, super market time and going back home early asking others to punch your cards. You feel that you are working (indeed slogging) when all these perks are taken away from you. You have enjoyed all this while. Work for the rakyat or leave if you can't perform. The best place for you is the home watching RTM1 BN propaganda.

Yada yada yada, but you're right Tohkong Mosjid, we the Rakyat are the worst of bosses. Having said that, we put PR on the map, so to speak and we want them to grow and eventually take over the country. We want them to be clean, fair, just, transparent, non racist, secular, in fact all things not done by the present ruling executive, even after 50 odd years of governance. So, PR please continue your daily grind and we'll help you to win each by election cos its the least we can do. We, the Rakyat, are hard task masters, but we believe the ends justifies the means, right guys?

Pakatan Rakyat should be careful of how their MPs and State Assemblymen conduct their action and speech. They have been in power for nearly 2 years now.
One example of unfathomed speech is a very Recent Incident - In TROPICANA Area in the VICINITY OF BANDAR UTAMA Petaling Jaya , a Powerful Developer unilaterally the CLOSED the road that is used by THOUSANDS daily for very self fish reasons without thought of PUBLIC SERVICE / WELFARE as they have already sold off all their houses . (By this action - the people who bought houses from him in BU 11 . 12 etc are suffering , as the congestion is transfred to their area).
What did the PKR State Assembly person say on the matter of this closure? " IT IS ONLY RIGHT THAT THE DEVELOPER TAKE BACK WHAT IS THEIRS . The State has no intention of taking over that stretch of road" - THESE WORDS were spoken without thought of the welfare of the THOUSANDS of constituens who reside in this particular constituency who went rendered their support in HER Time of Need.
This particular stretch of Road is only 800 - 1,000 sq meters and by Today 's Market Value - is only RM 1.5 - RM 2 Million. This action of the Assembly person has caused a very negative perception of PR parties. Why is the Pro DEVELOPER speech uttered - it conjoured negative liasions.
This road was FORCIBILY CLOSED on the 17th of NOV by the DEVELOPER to show that they are Powerful and above the LAW. the SELANGOR PAKATAN RAKYAT is meanwhile sitting Pretty tweddiling thier thumbs.
If the state can send RM 391 Million to bailout a Company that is never known to perform what is RM 2 M
for the welfare of nearly 20,000+ RAKYAT.
If the DEVELOPER does not want to be PUBLIC WELFARE Oreinted then use the LAND ACQUISITION ACT in the INTEREST of the PUBLIC. Could not the S. Assembly person say something more conducive?
For Pakatan,s Info the Previous MP for D. Utama went out of her way to help the Resident of D. Utama when they faced a similar albeit slightly varied problem
For the Developer interest, there was also another Powerful Chinese Millionare who was reputated to have take advantage of the common folks- he died a painful death and not long after his son also met an unpleasant accident. This person's empire is waning now. There is a CHINESE Saying BUILD ROADS and MEND BRIDGES You will have GOLDEN WAIT BAND - rob and plunder you will meet a tragic end.

Congratulations on a very timely and significant article, Tohkong Mosjid. I have been telling people the same thing. We are like a recently divorced man who starts finding fault with his new date within a few minutes - conveniently forgetting to look in the mirror and realize that it is our own lameness (read kiasuness and kiasiness) that allowed Umno/BN to grow over many decades into such a dangerous beast.

Yes, we the rakyat are being hard on PKR. This is to make sure they understand that they must perform. A lot of the rakyat understand the problems faced by PR, caused by BN. There are still a lot of the rakyat that must be converted from BN to PR. In order for them to convert PR must perform.
PR controls Selangor, Kedah, Kelantan and Penang why can't PR organize some radio stations to open up that will broadcast real news and not BN propaganda and spin. If you want the rakyat to convert to PR and stay loyal to PR, then PR must be able to get the news out. News that brings out the facts of their states and country. Not everyone has excess to Internet and not everyone understands what is spinning and propaganda. PR must enlighten these confused people by opening up radio stations that will tell the truth. Work smart PR not hard.

A very Good analogy in layman term. We should continue to support PR in governing the States entrusted. Give PR time to clean up the bad administration under limited resources. NEVER Give Up on PR to serve the Rakyat. Spiritually continue to support PR in your PRAYERS! SABM.

Tohkong Mosjid, you jumped in to the fire, therefore there must be a baptism of fire, nevertheless one must understand our anticipations and grievances. The culture is such that the RAKYAT have been marginalized victimized and ignored yet when legislators take their seat they become forgetful in BN case arrogant often insulting our intelligence.
Anyway your point is take and it is true we forget one; that you are not God, two; you sure ain't UNMO/BN sikos. Hold on Tohkong Mosjid, we're with you. Patient man ride donkey.

Are you saying the rakyat are kiasu and kiasi? Quick to blame and too demanding?

All this blame game is just a cover for people who have already decided to go back to UMNO.
