(The Malaysian Insider) - The opposition bloc should name Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat to be chairman of the Pakatan Rakyat Malaysia to foil any further attempts by Umno to have “unity government” talks with PAS, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim said today.

The maverick politician also wondered aloud why none of the three parties making up the Pakatan have mentioned the coalition except to clarify that he is the pro-tem chairman.

Writing in his blog today, Zaid also asked the coalition to review its ambitious plans to capture the Borneo states of Sabah and Sarawak and instead asked them to support local parties there.

He also confirmed The Malaysian Insider's report that the Pakatan Rakyat Malaysia submitted its registration on Nov 3.

"To make these efforts a success,

READ we need 'sacrifices' from Anwar Ibrahim. Abdul Hadi Awang can also make a big contribution by asking Tok Guru Nik Aziz to be the leader or chairman of Pakatan Rakyat, just like Mahatma Gandhi was spiritual leader to the Congress Party," said Zaid, referring to the leaders of PKR and PAS who are seen as less popular than respected PAS spiritual leader.

He also said veteran DAP leader Lim Kit Siang could prove his "statesmanship" by agreeing to his suggestion and to be adviser for democratic and human rights affairs.

"In one stroke, this will silence any agenda for a 'unity government' with Umno," Zaid stressed.

The head of the Pakatan Common Policy Platform secretariat also asked for a review of the bloc's push to win Sabah and Sarawak.

"Political reality shows it is a heavy effort and we have seen negative reaction with the tussle for seats like in the 2008 general election.

"Political wisdom also shows its better for Pakatan to play its role by supporting parties that are in tune with it in Sabah and Sarawak," he said, adding that step would show respect to the locals and make them equal partners in the coalition.

"Isn't this more realistic?" he asked.

"Only a grand coalition like this can overcome the Barisan Nasional giant," Zaid said.

On the flip side, he said capturing Putrajaya would remain a daydream if the leaders of the three parties felt they were strong enough and wanted to continue using old ways such as electoral pacts to form the federal government.

Saying he hoped not to offend anyone, Zaid noted the important issue was to achieve change and it will not happen if the allies only prioritised their parties and positions.

"They are not change agents. This group only wants power for themselves.

A good move that would check-mate UMNO. Political wisdom, that's a good phrase Dr. Zaid.
Yes, humility helps us see clearly that selfish grandstanding will only delay the Rakyat's
revolution. C'mon Pakatan, get your house in order. The sluggish, apathetic and lazy Rakyat
need to be shocked and roused into action.

Zaid, with your rationale, wisdom and foresight, you're a great Malaysian leader. Your consistency with your words, approach and actions are indeed balanced and impressive to the core. You're a true Malaysian!

Zaid, it is my fervent hope that other leaders of PR will also selflessly share this sentiment and will work closely together to help you in your sincere desire to make the nation a better place for all. All the best!

Zaid mentioned:

This is another way of saying Anwar please step aside. I think the catalyst was Anwars's handling of Sabah PKR which really showed a dictatorial style and a "Ketuanan Melayu and Islam' mindset which is redolent of UMNO . By virtue of his unforgivable blunder over Sabah, Anwar can no longer be seen as a unifying force. He just has too much baggage and is a political chameleon.

There is no reason why Zaid could not be PM and Kit Siang his deputy. I would love to see Kit Siang as the Home Minister. Malaysia needs a 'creative destruction' particularly in the Police Force and Judiciary. With Karpal as Minister of Justice it would be a dream ticket. Dr Zulkifli Ahmad of PAS is a man of integrity who would be ideal as Finance minister. Anwar should be the Foreign Minister.

This is a really good idea. Hopefully all the other PR coalition leaders can compromise on that in order to present a good fight to the BN goons. And the technique of team work with the Sabah and Sarawak parties is really good in capturing these 2 states from BN.

However, Tok Guru is choosen because of his leadership and ideology among the PR. It should not be a fix rule that the leader of PAS to be the leader of PR as a tradition. One day, when he is retired or, you know what I mean, another leader from PAS could be somebody like Nasaruddin who could be an extremist and lead the PR into nowhere.

In my opinion, Zaid should be a good leader due to his view and personality. We support you, Zaid.

Dr. Zaid

I believe that is a very good suggestion. PKR, DAP and PAS need to take into consideration who put them in this situation if rakyat vote them in during PRU-13. So, do not and must not argue who has more power in the public. We need a strong cabinet that will cooperate to revamp a lot of the things in the Federal Government and also State as well. We will need to make it illegal for Federal to by pass State on anything they do especially on budget matters.

Guess what if you do not cooperate with rakayat after 4 or 5 years. We will give it back to BN hopefully by than they will be a better management team for rakyat's money.

Bravo Zaid. We really need more LEADERS like you. You can clearly see the situation in Sabah and Sarawak. Now, why can't Anwar do the same? I am really happy that West Malaysian leaders like you who understands Sabahans' plight still exist. It seems that we were fighting an uphill battle. Finally you have shown a glimmer of hope. If Anwar thinks more like you, then the task of capturing Sabah will be much more easier. Keep it up Sir.

It make sense, as the whole, Tok Guru Nik Aziz also the senior leader in Malaysia, especially he was one of the leader who support the Pakatan Rakyat.
I believe no one should allow or wise to make noise on this.
