I consider Ramon’s statement to be a direct attack on me as I had earlier called on Abdul Gani to clear the air over public allegations of his relationship with Shahidan and the Mecca Haj pilgrimage. I was concerned that Abdul Gani’s silence would fuel deeper suspicions and confusion.

A-G clears air on allegations of his Haj pilgrimage

Attorney-General Tan Sri Gani Patail in a dialogue with the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) explained details with regard to his Haj pilgrimage in Mecca with his family.

The MACC in a statement today said he also explained allegations and accusations that appeared in blogs, linking him with the MASKargo issue.

The statement added that during the dialogue attended by 30 of the 42 Board members and MACC panel and MACC chief Datuk Seri Abu Kassim Mohammed, Gani had also briefed of the feedback and progress of current 'hot' cases.

Malaysian online news portals and bloggers have been playing pictures of Abdul Gani seen together with Shahidan Shafie, who was said to be close to former Malaysia Airlines chairman Tan Sri Tajuddin Ramli in the recent haj pilgrimage in Mecca.

They claimed that Shahidan had convinced Abdul Gani not to press charges against Tajuddin, who was chairman of MAS from 1994 to 2001, over the national carrier's loses which ran into billions.

MAS was reported to have filed several reports against Tajuddin with the MACC, citing Tajuddin's move to relocate MAS' cargo operations in Amsterdam and Frankfurt to a single hub in Hahn, Germany, as the single biggest loss suffered under him.

The new hub operation reportedly incurred monthly losses of between RM10 million to RM16 million before it was terminated and the government took over control of MAS in 2001. - Bernama

PRESS STATEMENT BY TAN SRI DATUK ROBERT PHANG MIOW SIN

Chairman – Social Care Foundation

Panel Advisor of Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)

RESPONSE TO DISCLOSURE BY TAN SRI RAMON NAVARATNAM OF A CONFIDENTIAL MEETING

1.            On Tuesday 4th January 2011, a meeting was held at the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission Academy (MACC). 30 members of the MACC board and panel members attended this meeting with the Attorney General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail. I was amongst those invited to attend this meeting. As usual it is only an invitation basis and we were told this was a confidential meeting.

2.            I was thus surprised to read that evening’s news reports that the MACC Corruption Prevention Panel Chairman Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam had issued a statement to the effect that the MACC members who attended this meeting were satisfied with Abdul Gani’s explanation and found that there was no need to investigate the allegations of Abdul Gani’s connection with former MAS Chairman, Tan Sri Tajuddin’s proxy, one En Shahidan Shafie.

3.            I am equally surprised not just because Ramon’s statement couldn’t be further from the truth, but also because Ramon had breached the confidentiality of this meeting by making this public disclosure. That Ramon can be in a haste to issue such a statement will inevitably invite further allegations that the board and panel members who attended this meeting were just rubberstamps to preserve the AG’s position. By his actions, Ramon has eroded any vestige of credibility that may be left of the MACC,  its advisory panels and other committee members.

4.            I am therefore compelled to respond because I am a member of the same MACC Corruption Prevention Panel of which Ramon is the Chairman. One thing I must agree with Ramon is that Abdul Gani had indeed gone out on a limb and had gone overboard in trying to convince us of his innocence and that he had no close relationship with En Shahidan. To me and others, it was a sorry sight.

5.            I regret Ramon’s statement that  - “ MACC members were satisfied with Abdul Gani’s explanation and found that there was no need to investigate the allegations”. I also resent Tan Sri Ramon’s statement that - “We found that there was no case at all to accuse him of being linked to Tajuddin just because of this Haj trip. It was irresponsible to allege that he was in any way linked.”

7.            Ramon can speak for himself but he has no mandate from me or the other panel members to make that statement on our behalf. That was not how I perceived the meeting. What was certain was that my esteemed colleagues who attended the meeting did not want to humiliate Abdul Gani any further. It was not our intention to humble the Top Lawyer of the country.

8.            It is therefore imperative for Abdul Gani to dispel any suspicion surrounding his conduct of consorting with Shahidan Shafie and the Mecca Haj pilgrimage. The public needs to be satisfied as to why Abdul Gani had not acted on the recommendations of the then Director of Commercial Crimes Department, Dato’ Ramli Yusuff, that Tajudin should be prosecuted. Inevitable the public already perceived that the AG’s decision to prosecute Dato’ Ramli as an attempt to cover up the MAS scandal.

9.            I deeply regret that Ramon considers these allegations against Abdul Gani as just loose talks, rumours and speculations with no proper basis. I fear the public will see this as just another whitewash.

10.            These are matters that have been in the public domain and it is only fit and proper that I remind the powers that be of the public displeasure.

“HUMBLENESS IS GOOD VIRTUE, ARROGANCE SHALL FALL, THE MEEK WILL RULE THE WORLD”.

Tan Sri Datuk Robert Phang Miow Sin

It does not take so long to produce bouchers that syould already be with you and worse it does not takes so long to have a disingenuous sounding emotional outburst.

It is every man's duty to defend the weak , oppressed and persecuted and ensure that fairness and justice is done to death as the governor of Punjab province does and lost his life recently for justice. Its a spiritual war above between the good and evil. We need to ask and not be afraid to ask even God for the correct answer or else you are doom. Because most of our leaders are not what they look like but are wolves in sheep's clothings.
Ask and you shall know , seek and you shall find and knock and it shall be open to you. To all Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and Christians , you should not be afraid to ask God the creator for the right answer and not ask Allah, Buddha ,Lord Murugan or Jesus only. The truth shall set all free.
Will Mr Robert Phang and many more be like the governor of Punjab province? For such person God is seeking . Be like him.

Just to share this...

Tuesday, June 10, 2003 - In memory of a truly great soul…http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2003/6/10/focus/badiox&sec=focus

“…It was here that I and my fellow directors: Tun Mohamed Dzaiddin Abdullah, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, Tan Sri Azman Hashim, Tan Sri Bujang Nor, Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam, Tan Sri Saw Huat Lye, Tan Sri Sulaiman Sujak, and Datuk Yap Lin Sen (as they now are), were blessed by the aura of Raja Tun Mohar's unique personality….” Unquote.

Your 10 questions for Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam - http://biz.thestar.com.my/news...c=business

“…Having been a child of Merdeka and sharing the Merdeka spirit and ethos, I am naturally disappointed that the civil service and the public service have become Malay-dominated. Our political leaders should not have allowed this to happen. This trend is detrimental to national unity and erodes the Government’s ideals of 1Malaysia .

People have been losing confidence in the public service and are inclined to criticise, sometimes even unfairly, because they do not identify with its composition nor its apparent ethnic partisanship

But now the whole system has got so skewed that we have to take bold measures to rectify the situation as soon as possible before it’s too late….” Unquote.

You be the judge.

Cheers.

We all know that MACC is a heavily controlled by the government. Therefore everyone invited to a MACC meeting and any official press release would have been approved by the government.

If Ramon and Robert Phang are government dogs; why are they giving confliction reports on Abdul Gani? Is Ramon or Robert Phang telling the truth? Is there a split in UMNO's support for Abdul Gani or has Robert Phang become a ‘reborn’ Christian? Did the government scrutinize and instruct Robert Phang properly before inviting him to the meeting?

Whatever said and done MAS lost Billions through corruption and ‘bodohness’. How many people have gone to jail? Why does Malaysia always have to suffer this kind of mega corruptions? Where has all this corruption money gone?

When are Malaysians going to wake up and kick BN out? If BN stays in power this is what you can expect, nothing will change, so corruption and racism will run amok till Malaysia finally collapses.

The powerful and rich are siding with one another to dominate one another by accusing, defending and denying all allegations. Be it political, religious, sexual , criminal or civil the war is on and the people must watch and discern what actually transpire. Dear Tan Sri Datuk Robert,

Let the Lord's grace be upon you who dares to speak the truth.

In 1 John 4, He tells us of the true spirit and the false spirit. We know that the true spirit in you is more powerful than the spirit of the world and their false prophecy.

If Tan Sri Ramon still have any decency left in him, then he must know that the millions of rakyat are at the mercy of the corrupt government and its thuggery. He must use this decency of his to stamp out this people out of circulation and to protect the rakyat against such evil people. Dont just because of his business interest that he neglects his role as Chairman of the MACC Advisory panel whose primary role is to ensure that the MACC carries out its role against corrupt practices.
