Yeah, she must have been be influenced by it, the Koran contains some text that is violent in nature, similarly the Christian Old Testament too, but the Christians have largely ignore those verses in the Old Testament probably with the exception of a few cranky Christians, from my observation, seems like many Muslims are influenced more by the Koran because they have been taught never dispute or question any verses in the Koran, where else the Christians can openly question and argue about any verses in the Old Testament.

The Ustazah's comments are strictly meant to the Muslims who have the obligations to be guided by our religious ethics. Whether the advice makes sense to Non-Muslims is something that we have no control of. As an Ustazah, she has the obligation to advise Muslims giving reasons as back-ups. So do some reading...Also in 1969 Pope Paul V1 deleted the day from is Roman calender of Saints but its religious observance isstill permitted..Growing up as a Catholic I have not experienced the observing of Saint valentine a patron Saint of Love by the Catholic church..in modern times this had become a commercial practise worldwide...
The Muslim community especially the Malay community in general should not deny their ignorance to many things and should GOD willing they become informed or enlightened more of their religion and what the world offers,it is by intergrity and intelligent ways that they should see the difference of these ways of life by non-muslims and that of the muslims by the teachings of Quran and not make the way and mannerisms of others a taboo and haram..!!
