In fact, it is evident that PKR is a new political party but one that is practising dirty old tricks in politics.
Who does not know that putting old wine in new bottles gives it a bitter taste?
And that is exactly what we see before our eyes - bitterness in the in-fighting, in the way some have no qualms about tearing each other apart with sharpened talons like vultures who have not had their prey for some time.
For sure, the Azmin-Zaid battle for PKR's deputy presidency in the November party polls must have left many of us in a head-shaking stance. At a time when the onslaught from the other side is intensifying from almost all sides, instead of taking steps to reinforce themselves from within, PKR is in a self-mutilation mode with complete disregard of their mission to Putrajaya - what seems to matter is their PERSONAL agenda.
Do all these incidents make you wonder if PKR and UMNO share too many similarities? What do we see today? More and more seeds of discord and disunity are being sown as some scramble to make it to the top hierarchy of leadership.
Last month, Zaid Ibrahim had told PKR not to mimic UMNO at this link where he lambasted PKR for creating a party election code of ethics that were very similar to Umno’s — such as barring candidates from openly criticising other party leaders, banning money politics and even scrutinising Hari Raya open houses. Then, he hoped that PKR would not become a hypocritical party like Umno.
Yesterday, Zaid claimed that his opponents have tried to pay a prominent blogger to attack him by falsely accusing him of vote buying and being in cahoots with Daim Zainuddin to destroy PKR. He also drew parallels between the late Ghafar Baba and himself by declaring that he is willing to risk being “buried” like Ghafar in the 1993 Umno party elections.
Free Malaysia Today reported HERE that Zaid Ibrahim's lamentation of alleged attacks over his bid for party deputy president may have had an adverse effect on the party image.
It is common knowledge that Zaid has been perceived by some to be a potential threat to the Anwar-Azmin pact.
I never expected PKR elections to become as dirty as what we see before us. It appears that slander and character assassination have now become part and parcel of PKR culture, reminiscent of their past affiliation- most disgraceful indeed.
In fact, it is evident that PKR is a new political party but one that is practising dirty old tricks in politics.

Before you think I have lost my marbles, take a look at this letter which an anonymous reader sent to me. FYI, I really hit the roof when I read it!!!
To: Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim,
Markas Kempen P094, Hulu Selangor
From: Mohamed Azmin Ali
Subject: Isu Yang Boleh di bangkitkan oleh BN terhadap Zaid Ibrahim
Date: 5 April 2010
B. Zaid tiada asas agama, malahan dia pernah saman Pas berkenaan hukum hudud
C. Pernah membohongi orang sewaktu menjadi MP Kota Bharu.
2. DASAR PERJUANGAN

I hope this contest will not turn personal as both are good guys. Unfortunately, there can only be one winner. I hope PKR will remain committed to the bigger agenda of Putrajaya and a stronger party .... after the party elections!

Even in Australia, corruption rears its ugly head now and then. If it is not nipped in the bud (I think it is spelled BUTT in Malaysia, it will morph itself and become a monster out of control. That's when the whole country suffers.
I would like to share a lawmaker's comments on how he would tackle corruption in NSW and the country. BN is beyond redemtion but PKR sure can benefit from this, if its leaders can rise above the self squabbling and internal strife:

Semuaok, People can change for the better, not everyone but many would. In an open PR government with free press/air media, the public, like yourself and all other seniors/NGOs in the nation will play important parts to direct the nation to go onto the right path. If undesirable deviations are detected that are not what the rakayat want, we hammer it back to the right way.
After garbage goes in, it can be turned into great fertilzers for plants(nation) to grow when we put our heads together to make it the best garbage-fertilzer. At this moment in time, these so-called garbage are the ones who are standing up to make the difference for the good of the nation. All the so-called non-garbage, for example the Bar Council people or top business non-corrupt people, are totally useless, in leading us out of thenightmare. We just got to do with what we got and improve from here with wider choices of candidates when we have more cards to play with, after setting foot in Putrajaya.
As of now, we can't thank these so called "Garbage In" enough, churning out into "Back Gold out". We have a great chance to see to that the Black Gold is realised for our nation to grow with bountiful harvest for all.

Only writers with hidden agenda see it as a destruction mode. The best man wins for the current moment. The members know best, not anyone outside the party or any skewed writer. So any talks of PKR sell-mutilation on the road to Putrajaya is way off tis mark. It is only for the consumption of the ignorant and the false hope of the BeEnd government.
No, I dont see PKR and UMNO sharing similarities. In PKR, the member decide. So far that is great with minimum outright irregularities.
Seniority should an important element of the consideration of the leader re FMT report on PKR today. Seniority AND an elected up & coming MP combined are potent pre-requisites of a contesting leader. It is hard to go against these qualifiications.
My heart says Zaid but my head says Azmin is best for the position with his two strong qualificatons which Zaid does not posess at this point in time. Whoever the members decide, the members must respect the democratic direct election, agree to disagree on the choice, close ranks and set their sights on Putrajaya. The equally capable loser would surely play a more important role on their march to Putrajaya.
If its Azmin to be the victor, he needs a STRONG MAKEOVER on his appeal and contacts with the wider good PKR supporters, fence-sitters. If he fails to do that in quick time, he would be seen as an arrogant PKR bastard who we had to have. If he reinvent himself and meet all grassroot, not just engaging with one grassroots race, like what Zaid has done and shown to us all, then his resume would improve by leaps and bounds, and he becomes a favourite leader. But that is NOT to say, he should lose his malay mongrelness in the malay Felcra/Felcra heartlands - the malay heratland probably wants to see and help to jolt them out of decades old complacency, I suspect.
So do we want a nice & cuddly leader, indecisive, pandering to too many sectors, easily subject to blackmail (eg like the blackmails in Sabah PKR) and lose the war,
or
a firm and almost ruthless, no non-sense leader who has higher chances to take us all to Putrajaya?
I guess, somewhere in between would be ideal to win the war. We dont have to tag him as an arrogant basterd that we had to have.
Great job PKR.

All those talks about how UMNO/BN are the scum and etc...... "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?"
