(AFP) - Dutch anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders, the country's most heavily guarded politician, has denounced an Australian Muslim cleric's reported call for his beheading for denigrating Islam.
"This is really terrible news and a very serious threat, unfortunately," the firebrand politician told AFP by email in response to the threat reported in the popular Dutch daily De Telegraaf.
Wilders, who campaigns for an end to Muslim immigration and a ban on the building of new mosques and the Koran in a bid to end the "Islamisation" of the Netherlands, has been under 24-hour protection since 2004.
According to De Telegraaf, Sydney-born Muslim cleric Feiz Mohammad called on extremists in an internet chatroom to "chop off his head" and accused Wilders of "denigrating" Islam.
An interview with Wilders recorded in June was aired by SBS TV in Australia on Sunday. He called Islamic culture retarded and violent.
Mohammad, as the head of the Global Islamic Youth Centre in the Sydney south-west suburb of Liverpool in 2005, gained notoriety for a speech at the Bankstown Town Hall in March of that year in which he told the audience a rape victim has "no-one to blame but herself".
Women teased men and appealed to their "carnal nature" by the way they dressed in "nothing but satanic skirts", the imam told the crowd.
In 2007, he was named by national security sources as one of at least 10 hardliners who were preaching fundamentalist messages in Australia, propagating a Wahabi ideology espoused by al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
In the same year, Mohammad, who was believed to be living in the Middle East, came to the attention of Australia's attorneys-general when his lectures were included in a box set of DVDs which urged young Muslims to kill non-believers.
The Dutch intelligence service, AIVD, which is understood to have a copy of his latest speech, said Mohammad is considered on a par with US Muslim preacher Anwar al-Awlaki, who is seen as the brains behind a failed attack on a plane flying over Detroit.
Wilders told De Telegraaf, which published a recording of the speech on its website, that he is shocked by the death threat.
he newspaper claims to have a sound recording of the appeal by Mohammad, who it said had links with terrorists and was influential for Western Muslims.
Wilders' Party for Freedom wants to restrict immigration from Islamic countries and considers Islam a violent ideology rather than a religion.
It is currently involved in protracted negotiations to support a minority centre-right government of free-market liberals and Christian Democrats.
Wilders said he would seek "clarification from the Dutch Minister of Interior/ Justice why the secret service and anti-terrorism unit NCTB have not informed me" of the reported threat, and "what the consequences will be for me".
"The information that has come to the fore will be included in the threat analysis for Mr Wilders," said NCTB spokeswoman Judith Sluiter, who added: "We had contact with Mr Wilders last night. We have permanent contact."
Dutch authorities would not confirm the threat or elaborate on possible steps to be taken.
Barred from entering Britain last year to stop him spreading "hatred", Wilders is known abroad for his 17-minute anti-Islam commentary, "Fitna", which was termed "offensively anti-Islamic" by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
His Party for Freedom came third in June 9 national elections, nearly tripling its number of parliamentary seats to 24.
Wilders is set to go on trial in the Netherlands in October on charges of inciting racial hatred against Muslims.

Doesn't it then imply the religions which they are supposed to represent is the root cause for such predictable but opposing and destructive movements? If so, then religions must be logically banned by all governments before everyone is forced to lose his head in the end. End of the world because of religions? It's profoundly stupid of humans if it is the cause, isn't it?..but it's most likely to be the reason as most are still stuck deep into their dreams with their own religious version of God. Unfortunate.

Muslim migration to the West has caused alot of Islamphobia for the right and wrong reasons to all the conservatives who dont want drastic change to their christian way of life. The extremist muslim in the middle east, like Iran/Iraq (Shites), Afgahinstan (Talibans), Afghan-Pakistan(Al Queda) and in Asia such as Indonesia fanatism are horror stories to the West, . The higher muslim population in Europe/netherlands also bring many muslim practices that are confronting to the modern way of life. For example, burga wearinng is associated with women suppression and all the negatives in the West.
When Muslim demand the freedom of wearing this and other demands in the society, the conservatives today are going to elevate MPs , like Dutch anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders This is also debated in a country like Australia. I believe issue related to this has contributed a high percentage to the loss of support for the ruling Labor government from their political correct attitude
if you look in the reverse situation, the same will happen. Suppose christian migrants migrate to a predominantly muslim population today and demand to wear christian symbols, clothing and demand Christian protocols in schools, government etc, then the conservative, let alone the extreme muslim would cry out and protest..
The muslims are doing themselves a great dis-service to themselves by not living compatibly with the country they choose to migrate to and support the countries which are sheltering them and giving them every equal opportunity, not like this Muslim cleric Feiz Mohammad. There has been many other reports of dis-loyalty of mulsim reported in Australia, like convicted muslim, with proven records, of them trying to bomb the cities. All these info were on the on-line Australian papers. It is like chinese or Indian Malaysian, migrants and local born in Malaysia, planning to bomb Petronas buildings or Christian/Hindus/Buddhist calling all Muslim "infidels in reverse and do unpatriotic things.
Some possible ways to help solve these problems.
Muslims adapt in the countries they live in. Their first loyalty must be given to their adopted country or country of birth, where they receive equal benefits as al others, and not giving loyalty to some distant middle east countries due to common religion bond.
When extreme christian are calling for extreme measures, like the dutch guy, it is best the muslim demonstrate their goodwill even stronger by doing more compatible things in the western countries. Just like the Teo damsel in distress, carefully manage her pre and post surau act, including wearing muslim clothings in the mosque, in the reverse situation. Discuss the issues but they must learn to agree to disagree and accept the way of life without any calls for violence. The Muslim cleric Feiz Mohammad is WRONG way and it must be condemned by all muslim in no uncertain terms to retain the goodwill.
You can be assured that when western citizens, like the dutch MP, call for anti-Islam measures, you will have many non muslim who would defend the rights of the muslim already in the country in the open media. Ultimately, the muslim in their new adopted countries decide their own faith. If they feel very compelled to strictly follow their religion, then migrate to the countires where they can practise every single hours of the day and dont live a life of lies to themselves.
In Malaysia context, there is already a very strong chinese (& Indian) presence throught the history. They were the joint early builders of Malaya and Malaysia and early peole who fought for the country, together with all othe malays. They brought their custom & beliefs, accepted by our great forefathers. They dont impose theri lifesytles onto any other race. They are not just migrating here now. They have been mostly patriotic for more than 50 decades, going back to pre Hang Tuah times, despite the strong racism practices against them for the past 30-40 years, till today. The chinese dont call for beheading of the muslim overseas or in mlaysia despite constant aggravation to them. They should never have been second class citizens in the first place. They should have been treasured and given equal opportunities as muslim are given in western countries.

The moslems came into these countries enjoying the FREEDOM OF RELIGION Acts in these countries, but once they set their roots in their host countries, THEY THEN START PROSELYTING AND THEN FORCING OTHERS TO BOW DOWN TO THEIR STUPID RELIGION..
AFTER ALL...RPK said, it was these moslem clerics who gave ISLAM a very bad NAME...!!

If the govt of Netherland and Australia do not want to be continuosly stupid, they shoud start repatriating all their moslem residents and beheading their clerics... as soon as possible

Australians would find it good to behead muslim Imams. Earns pahala. After their experiences with immigrant Lebanese, they are looking forward to this, I assure you. This is just what they are looking for. Stupid muslims are a dime a dozen.
The islamic world is under 'implosion'. They don't need enemies. They are their worst enemies. Muslims kill muslims every single day. The rest of us just needs to give them space. And some time.
I do not think medieval cultures can last one more decade. Why should the rest of us tolerate backwardness and feudalism posing under pseudonyms such as 'religion'?
