KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2: The PAS Youth wing slightly differed in its response to the controversy surrounding a YouTube video clip posted by young songwriter Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee.

Its chief Nasruddin Hassan Tantawi described Namewee as a victim of racial provocation although he may have gone overboard with his racist remarks.

“Namewee is against racism and has become a victim of racial provocation in the country.

"But he went to the extreme to voice out his restless mind,” twitted Nasrudin in response to the latest controversy surrounding a video clip on YouTube which attracted condemnations over its racist tone.

Namewee's video was apparently a response to the lack of action by the government over school principal Siti Inshah Mansor’s racist jibe which had likened Chinese to migrants who should "return to China” and the Indian prayer beads to "dog leashes".

In his short clip, Wee delivered a rap version of his dissatisfaction, complete with vulgarities and obscenities slamming the principal.

The YouTube clip was taken off following an outcry from UMNO and other Barisan Nasional leaders who called for the young artist's arrest for sedition. The call also received backing from MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek, who told Namewee to “face the music” for offending other races.

I agreed that he was provoked but two wrong doesn't make one right. If the BN government is smart that should just brush it off and let it go. To counter racism is not to become racist ourselves but put allow level headed people to do their job. However, in Malaysia the leaders are not willing to take chances because they are afraid they might lose their popularity.

I have a BIG problem with people that we have HIGH expectations on that throw insults at other races in public and still keep their job. One of those are the teachers and especially head master. We also expect this out of our leaders and so far our leaders in the PR has meet the expectation. Meanwhile, our BN leaders just shit all over the place to try to divide and conquer to continue stealing from rakyat. So, for you sitting on the fence please come down and take a risk before you have to find anew country to stay in.

I laughed when I watched the rapper Namewee's tap, song & dance. Wow, didn't know we got this kind of talent in Malaysia. Thought only the blacks in the US could rap like dat. Hope BN govt will not prosecute Namewee - maybe bn wants to help Opposition to gain more votes from southern region! Most people are not insulted as you bn gomen would like us to believe. Stop treating us rakyat as retarded. Even Malays are waking up... one fren of mine, a Malay, said we shld send khir tempe toyol back to Indonesia.... ha ha ha... he is dead meat if he goes there. You know how angry the Indons are at us Malaysians?

I totally agree with temenggong to put Namewee as a PR candidate. I am not too sure if it will be a great idea under PAS banner - as he may be sabotaged by some PAS fellas wh might be friendly with dUmno.

I am sure in a mixed consituency, Namewee will definitely win. His ceremah will be lively with his latest rap numbers! Let it be a big slap to those idiots in BeeEnd-ed!

A nice one! Most ordinary non Malays just shook their head in disgust at the Perkasa Chief and those bastards who ask Chinese and Indian to go back China and India respectively, but for sure some will retaliate because they are PROVOKED!

No two persons sensitivity are alike, some are more hyper sensitive, you see, Namewee just 'cannot tahan anymore-lah'

While I agree with this PAS rep that Namewee was provoked by the inaction of the MOE against the non-repentent Kulai headmistress, I disagree that Namewee was extreme. He was just telling facts. Like one of the commentators above said, Dr. Mahathir himself admitted that 90% of the tax collected for Malaysia came from the Chinese, so how can Namewee's statement be wrong or extreme?

It would be wrong if Namewee proceeded to make disparaging racial remarks against other races in Malaysia, but he did not. So what he presented was not 'extreme' but truthful.

Malaysians should now learn to live by the truth, no matter how bitter the pil is, because the truth is the only way to set us free from the bondage of UMNO and its lies that they spit out of their stinking mouths (in the like of Saiful's arse hole) for half a century!

Semuaok said: Believe me Namewee is not trying to hurt himself and he is a lot smarter than you or me.

Damn right! When I first saw 'Negarakuku' on YouTube I laughed at the rapper's choice of name. Namewee? Hee hee. But I have to take my beanie off to the young chap. Within a year he had Members of Parliament and Ministers uttering his name and promoting him as an off-the-wall rapper the authorities would rather see bundled off to jail. Even APCO couldn't have done a better job of making Namewee a household name! Good on him. Making police statements is just part of paying his dues, a form of national service... and even if Namewee gets slapped with a fine or locked up for a few weeks, it would only increase his popularity. You could call Namewee a consummate guerrilla artist.

Read my Qur'an swearing pink pouting lips: I am glad that my pet chick from the Malay Chicken Arzehosiation Soi Lek is against this Namewee fellow and against the renegade PAS who appears to not have a clue what race they really are. Now that Soi Lek has said so, we think we should ISA this unpatriotic renegade. Murder, C4, theft, corruptions are $emua-nya OK and can be tolerated as UMNO culture, but we have to draw a line on this unpatriotic rapping.... that's the ultimate $emua-nya NOT OK! Death to rapping and the rapper.... do what I do, play with C4 instead!

I don't think Namewee is provoked. I think he is creating a brand of himself Without UMNO we might not even know who Namewee is. Believe me Namewee is not trying to hurt himself and he is a lot smarter than you or me.

According to Tun Dr. Mamakhatir, who had once said that 90% of the taxes are paid by the Chinese Malaysian.

When Namewee go overboard in his vulgar critism, KJ blasted the former for being seditious, it's not true and that the "Siapa buat Malaysia kaya ?" phrase is wrong !

So who's actually wrong ? Namewee, Siti or Tun Mamak Kutty ?

Cheers and Thank you to PAS for a level head and speaking the TRUTH.

Dr Chua should be ashamed of himself for not having the wisdom + courage to see+ say its a retaliatory move by Namewee after the useless MOE ignored the severity of the brainless headmistress statements (should hv jailed her for treason - inciting racial hatred, threating national security!) .

MCA is surely IRRELEVANT to the Malaysian Chinese!
MCA members can go back to China. May be take Dr Ling with you.

actually i don't see apart from some profanities in his song, what is so racist and seditious about it? It does have a catchy tune and if his "Nah" song is racists then statements by perkosa, ahmad ismail, siti and the old doctor is even more seditious.

It's in the ranks of those gangsta rap from US. smilies/grin.gif

PAS is sounding more sensible and rational than UMNO these days on social issues. That's why Malaysian support is increasing for PAS and steadily declining for UMNO. It's obvious, isn't it, from the approach they are taking. UMNO, eat your heart out, you're sure to be overwhelmed by PAS at the rate you buggers are going. Congratulations, with diminishing support for UMNO, Malaysians are ever closer to achieving their objective to change this arrogant and corrupt UMNO government! God speed!
