We need clarity on who is supposed to have these privileges. Are only Malays and Bumiputras entitled? Definitely, yes. But, why are mamaks requesting to enjoy the same?

By Jamiliah Kassim

Being a Malay, I must say "thank you" for advocating to let the Bumiputra quota stay, albeit your much embarassing, ridiculous and amusing criticisms on meritocracy.

However, we need clarity on who is supposed to have these privileges. Are only Malays and Bumiputras entitled? Definitely, yes. But, why are mamaks requesting to enjoy the same?

Why can mamaks be made Malays? Where on earth can a person convert his race through religion? Obviously this is unacceptable. UMNO is for Malays, and Malays are exclusive of mamaks. UMNO, being fighter for Malays' rights, should rectify this false definition.

Regards,
Jamiliah Kassim

Jamilah,
Maybe you shld do all Malays a big favour - educate them that the Toon is a mamak, that Malaysia had an Indian Prime Minister for 22 years. Walk inside a mamak eatery, and you find tons of mamaks chatting in Tamil.... ha ha ha, I had a really good laugh after I walked out. This country is so stupid-ised and dumb down to the sewers.

jamiliah,to us,the original people of borneo, you yourself are no better than the mamak cos you force things down our throat! F**k neocolonialism! lots of malaysian malays are blinded by their belief....any muslim can be accepted as bumiputra and some can even become the prime minister of the country.the only group of people who can rightfully demand the 30% quota are the orang asli and the dayaks of borneo but we are not that type...we prefer a level playing field.

Better My I'm sorry to say you fail to read in between the line of this letter. The writer is being sarcastic because the mamak is fighting for the rights for which he is not entitled to but he wants to be more Malay than Malay. Did she not refer to the mamak's criticism of meritocracy where he rant that those who believes in meritocracy. Jamiliah is a progressive thinking Malay lady who I believe is fed up of this mamak sitll continue to make the Malays look like weaklings and need crutches. Syabas to you Jamiliah. Better My she is not racist and Ihope you will undrstand that she is being sarcastic. As I read all the comments I can only conclude there are many progressive thinking Malays but it is only the Unmoputras who are dividing the raykyat. LET US KICK UMNO AND BN OUT OF THE GOVT. I feel you are lucky to escape the wrath of more critical readers on your surat, Jamiliah Kassim, up to Comment 24.

I dont like the tone of your surat,
You are only about malay and UMNO and pure Malay again, part from the peripheral issue of mamak.
You better get use to the new PR way that encompass Malaysian, PR and more Malaysian, so that every rakyat, the city and the kampung, can be managed and brought up to contribute to the nation and reaps the rewards from their contribution.

The focus of malay entitlements is one that we, espcially the malay, have to learn to wean off for the malay own benfits on the long term. Al the poor Malay deserve entitlements, just as the many poor chinese anbd Indian. You can't possibly say/thnk , the poor malay get to 50% than than equally poor chinese/Indian for decades to come in future , under PR government.

Go back to your drawing board and redraft this letter again and submit to MT again, Jamiliah Kassim

THAT IS BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN SCREWING THE MALAYS AT THE BACK FOR 20 YEARS AND STILL THINK HE CAN DO SO FOR ANOTHER 20 MORE SO HIS OFFSPRINGS CAN CONTINUE TO RIDE ON HIS HERITAGE. Nobody of any race will ever have any problem with the NEP if it was executed properly, transparently, sincerely and honestly.

The poor and the down-trodden must be assisted to ensure that they can live a sustainable life. Nobody can nor will argue against this.

Those who plunders the nation's resources using the NEP as the tool , must be punished severely in order that future opportunist thinks twice before embarking upon a self-help binge to the country's reserves at the expense of the needy ones.

Allowing opportunist mamaks or opportunists of any race to plunder the nations resources through the use of NEP is definitely not acceptable. Those who are enjoying a comfortable normal life must not be able to dip into the nation's coffers meant to alleviate the lives of the unfortunates.

Here, we can manufacture a race. A person can join and become part of the race if they fulfill certain criteria. This means that anyone can be manufactured into the race if he so choose to be.

Creation is not the right choice of word because it involves something aesthetic which is not man made.

Manufacturing normally involves assembly lines. If you add the necessary materials/ingredients/criterias to the process, you can then come up with a final product You can choose the types of materials to add and mix.

alacarte, Ridhuan Tee is an UMNO Malay alright, no doubts. His conversion plus some others (nons, I mean) here and there wil not affect the Tuans-Slavery equation pretty much. red1, pls quote from quran (if you're muslim, that is) in English (like RPK does always), to show us that one has to be identified by another race if one were to potong?? More than 100millions chinese in China are muslims, and they remain as chinese. Only in Malaysia will you find a convert required to change his race according to UMNO's Islam and for political reasons, not in so far as true Islam is concerned. Anyway, pls read my ealier commens. It's only UMNO's wayang kulit to want converts to be malays. If all were to convert, they will say no need to change race. UMNO Malays remain as tuans, converts (specifically Chinese and Indians) remain as slaves. PERIOD

I'm not being mean. The last time I read another posting with almost similar title, I thought it was an eulogy for Tun Mamak on his funeral day. What a disappointment that it isn't.

Anyway, like I said before, those who have converted and be accepted by UMNO as UMNO Malays are just tools being made use of by UMNO (read Tun Mamak the racist). If all nons were to convert, they WILL NOT be counted as malays. Nons after conversion will still be nons known as Chinese, Indian, dan lain lain. This is because the Malas and Manja UMNO Malays count themselves as tuans while the nons are merely slaves who set foot on Tanah Melayu as pendatangs to Melacur and Mengemis. The nons will never be known as Malaysians so long as UMNO rules this land. Why do you think UMNO Malays want to be racists?? There is no way they will accept all nons who convert (hypothetically speaking) as Malays. Who will feed them if all rakyat become equals?? Ridhuan Tee, you are such an idiot

I am sure majority of the Malays are aware of this matter just like Jamiliah Kassim. I am surprise it took one of them to voice out after so many years. I suppose, nobody dare to speak up when Tun was in power.

Malay is a race, Negrito is a race, Kadazan is a race, Indian is a race, Chinese is a race. But Bumiputra is a not a race. Bumiputra is a term cough out during Tun time under the pretext of placing Malays and aborigines into the same category. Of course along the way, many extra got in. Most of them were Mamak. Mamak is also not a race. Mamak is a term use to describe Indian Muslims. Basically they are Indian and their religion is Islam.

In our country the politicians are so confuse that the bundle everything from race, terms and religions together. I suppose it is for their advantage and they probably change when they are no longer work out to their advantage. But the people are clear about this. People should speak out. The more we talk the more we understand each other. Jamiliah Kassim is absolutely right. Why the government should give special previlege to those Indian Muslims. The same apply those who migrate to Malaysia later. No government in the world can change the race identity. We are all born with it. We don't have a choice and it was decided by God. So if someone were to born a chinese parent, who were poor and live in Malaysian, that person has to accept it and make the best out of it. But the fact remain that he is a Chinese and he is a Malaysian.

So my fellow Malaysians. We have learned to accept one another. We never feel threaten by one another until our politicians told us so. They did that because they are registered as members in a race based political parties and they have to be seen fighting for their race. We will never have peace as long as we have race base parties and once a while some of these irresponsible politicians will scream to their top of the lung against another race or take up a keris or another weapon to threaten another race for their own political benefit.

I have no doubt that all Malaysians regardless of race, want progress. All Malaysians regardless of race, want peace. All Malaysians regardless of race, want the government to be fair. All Malaysians regardless of race want our government to be efficient. All Malaysians regardless of race, want our government to extend help to the poor regardless of their race.

If we want of the above, we have to be fair too. We have to do our part. For all the rich Malaysians, please stop disgracing yourself by applying for scholarship or subsidy from the government or other institution eventhough you are rich. What you did are selfish as it deprive many poor from benefitting from these benefits mend for them. I hope someone could publish all the rich Tun, Tan Sri, Datuk and Dato's who are benefiting from government scholarship. Let see who are those shameful and selfish Malaysians.

So to my fellow Malaysians please no more keeping quiet anymore. This is your country and if you don't care, who else will care. No more not taking your vote seriously. Be a good and responsible Malaysian and together we will inherit a wonderful country to live in.

....but Jamilah Malay isn't a race. According to the Malaysian Constitution a Malay is a person who speaks Malay, embraces Islam and practices the Malay culture. So, if a mamak (a muslim) speaks Malay and practices the Malay culture even halfway, he's a Malay. A Chinese adopted since a baby by a Malay family becomes a Malay. This is a unique case applicable ONLY in Malaysia.

The Malays have just realized that their race, postion and power has been hijacked?
Then bacalah:
http://thestar.com.my/lifestyl...=lifefocus

“The Mamaks are a close knit lot,” she said in between sips of coffee. “The family network is very important and though there may be several clans, we take care of each other. They are also very loyal and expressive – maybe it’s the immigrant trait.”

The Mamaks she means are the ones from Penang and probably bits of Kedah.

And from Malaysiana1 website:

Jamiliah, Thanks for the correction.

But THE ex-PM mamak is a thick skin. He has even dis-owned all his ancestors!

His greed for power+wealth has literally blinded him, drowned his soul and has no conscience left. His is an empty body - waiting to be buried.

And more unfortunately, this same disease has encompassed his entire family, wife, sons, daughters and in-laws and out-laws. To a lesser degree ... his daughter Marina (I guess).
