THE charging of three Tourism Ministry officials yesterday for criminal breach of trust involving close to RM1 million goes a distance to show that the government is serious in nipping in the bud corruption and misuse of public funds.

However, while the likes of the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the police may get some brownie points for their efforts, especially since the netting of a big fish in the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) fiasco, the people still need convincing that the real culprits – the ones with money and connections will not be let off the hook.

After all what is RM1 million compared to the millions siphoned from public funds?

Last Thursday, the courts in Shah Alam and Kajang were all abuzz that there would be more VIPs reined in over the PKFZ fiasco and another case in Selangor. But reporters were left disappointed when no one turned up.

What went down for sure, according to our sources, is that frantic phone calls and horse-trading were the order of the day.

There is no evidence to show that the perpetrators will be let off. But what is certain is that the phone calls bought a little time. For what one is unsure. It is perhaps, as some speculate, to destroy evidence or to effect a plea bargain to give up bigger fish.

Unfortunately, the reality of things is that when it comes to several characters, applying the full weight of the law depends on political expediency and repercussions.

Taking one down will mean taking others down as well, and sometimes, it may not be in the best interest of the political longevity of certain individuals as well as the party they represent.

In the midst of all these, the A-G’s Chambers, the MACC and the police become unwitting and unwilling players in the game of political one up-manship. And herein lies the true test of the independence of these institutions.

Antares, Sedan and Casper you win a prize for the right answer. Hahaha. This TerenceThambi and his handler Nades are just good for MSM. He is so stupid to think that he can fool the readers of this dignified and prestigious Malaysia-Today information network. If you have the integrity, mention names when you write here. And by the way, the AG and IGP are not unwilling participants. They are beneficiaries. Your spins are only good for the MSM. For those who thought that you did a good job of exposing the PKFZ scandal, let me enlighten them. You had the green light from your boss to bring down the MCA guys because UMNO was not happy who MCA at that time.

Terence Fernandez is the mainstream media's darling shill. So, is his godfather Citizen Nades. By highlighting small fish corruption, they expect to carry the halo of fearless exposes.

Rubbish! Try digging up corruption issues surrounding Vincent Tan (your paymaster) and see where that leads you.

There is one thing I cannot stand: Puny wimps who trample on the small fish and ass-kiss the big ones.

But then, it is Terence's portfolio to fry the small fish and fool us public into thinking that there are elements in the Sun who can stand up to authority.

Frankly, between the shameless coward Terence and Ibrahim Ali, I'd prefer the latter any day. At least Ibrahim Ali takes a dig at even Umno politicians.

Terence thambi, I'm sure you are a nice fella' swell and all but when you talk of graft busting to sound off the lot of corrupt monkeys, let me remind you the fact you are working in the employ of the biggest granddaddy of them all. Perhaps the most influential of individuals out of government and the grandest of a selected bunch of 'Cina' UMNO (whom I know) takes pleasure in spitting on all UMNO Malays, given the constant demand of UMNO monkeys for more and plenty more bananas - a relationship fostered when Mahathir was just a regular 'Mutt' still wet behind the ears.

Back in the day when Mahathir was still a minion, Vincent Tan was quick to notice how conniving the Doctor wallah and 'invested' in that potential that paid off multifolds. Even now, Vincent Tan is still reaping the benefits of that fruitful investment but more importantly, immunity from his many criminal ways when conducting business.

In private circles, Vincent likes to regale friends the awkward ways of Mahathir, cocksure and full of himself now but not so, those early days. He may have transformed himself but yet cultivated no business sense to allow Daim and Vincent run rings round him - an anomaly considering the sharp wit necessary for commerce most Indian Muslim inherently possess.

In business and politics, this Cina UMNO has been able to call the shots for eternity because all of Mahathir's UMNO Baru remains beholden to him. And since coming out unscathed at the close of Lingamgate, this supersize criminal has lost all objectivity and grown ever bolder ie jumping the gun to grant himself a gaming license is evident of how big his balls are.

This playground bully put Najib in a spot of bother, made a dog out of MACC chief, a bitch of SC head and yet UMNO's No.1 was all apologetic for the ruckus Vincent himself created.

Today, the "hidden" hand no longer lingers in the shadows but as the saying goes - the higher one's climb, the harder the fall - and soon Terrence, your benefactor, his future and fortunes would come crashing to mimic the fall of UMNO with that day of reckoning, just a short while away.

I believe everything is in place for M'sians to test the fallacy of the RAHMAN prophesy. The time is ripe but I hope the stars above grant me the wish of having the old Mutt around, alive and kicking to bear witness for that last hurrah of an UMNO gone up in flames like a Banana Foster - a most apt and poetic end.

No matter the time of week Terence, that would be a truly memorable and joyous MERDEKA day. Cheers one and all.

I'm glad writers from the Sun like Terence Fernandez get a place in MT as they are the only unlikely allies from MSM. Another writer is Citizen Nades. Terence and Nades are reminiscent of the two reporters who exposed Watergate when they went public with PKFZ with their investigative journalism.

"...goes a distance to show that the government is serious in nipping in the bud corruption and misuse of public funds.'-no, I beg to differ.
RPK has given us an insight as to why these 3 are scapegoats - they have been picked by a partial justice system to satisfy a vengeful former Minister of Tourism becoz they refused to play ball with her ; refused to accept her abuse of funds.
I'll take RPK's word on these matters anytime!!
