Those attending a function here this morning must have felt that this was the case based on the 84-year-old's scathing remarks.
The central topic was education, and the medical doctor-turned-politician, suggested that Najib's government should be given the boot if did not convince parents that education was one of its topmost priorities.“You can change the government if you want to, or if you don’t want to change the government, you can change the person. But telling me (the problem), a former prime minister, is not going to help. You must tell the (current) prime minister,” he said.
Mahathir, who had delivered a talk on the impact of technology on higher education, was responding to a parent campaigning for the government to reinstate the policy of teaching Science and Maths in English.
The Najib government cancelled the policy, which was Mahathir's brainchild, following pressure from certain quarters who considered it as an attempt to phase out the prominence of vernacular schools.

I been vocally saying that i support Tun Dr. Mahathir. This is the reason why. He can just bring down the PM faster than all our rants put together. He give him some more space. Anyone who brings cynical remarks to the PM is our friend. Politics is about been realistic. With Anwar going in, Mahathir is our replacement act.

Come on, Tun Mamak, you were the PM when science and maths were switched to BM circa 1980. Then you realised your mistake and a few years before you retired, you switched it back to English. Just about the only thing you're doing it right, right now, is to get them to switch back to English. You have my support for this. You will also have my support to oust Najis, but no if you want Moohidin the lembu or your son Mookris to lead. How about doing us the rakyat a favour, topple the BN govt and help DSAI to be PM. Llike you have realised your mistake about teaching S&M in BM, I will similarly support you if you realise your mistake in sacking DSAI
