If the government had taken the trouble to educate or introduce proper religious educations, the muslims in this country would not have had a problem understanding the use of the word Allah. Fear of the word being misused would also not happened. Ask those muslims who are well read and the majority will tell you that we are creating a mountain out of a mole hill. Ignorance in these matters and fanning religious fanaticism for political and ulterior motives will serve no one any purpose. It will destroy the society and its unity.
Since Malaysia is a country of diverse races and religious groups and to achieve unity in diversity, there has to be compromises. Everybody wants to win and nobody wants to lose. Hence, I suggest Muslim has the "pattern" right to use the name Allah for a period of 10 years. During these 10 years, the government must educate the muslims that Allah is God for all irrespective of races or religions. We need to adopt a more tolerant and liberal attitude/policy, failing which one day religious fanaticism will destroy this country. Look at Pakistan and Afghanistan..............so sad!!!!!!!!!!!

And every year it publishing permits was approved with no problem so why now only the the Home Ministry refused to issue the permit? However, I learned something from this interviews that the majority muslims would have subsribed to the views similar to the two gentlement interviewed inside the mosque.

First senior muslim gentlement said " Allah is only meant for muslim, not for other races" ( I believe he meant not for other religion)..." we live in multiracial country and live in harmony. Everybody good to each other. ..some people try to break all these.."

The second muslim gentlement said "All my life, non of my friends, Catholic never use the word " Allah" refering to God. It must be Tuhan or God, never "Allah"."

Government make no effort to inform them that " Allah" was used by both Christian and Muslim long time ago. UMNO, trying to be the act champion for malay thus muslim , push for exclusitivity of the word " Allah" for Muslim.

There was never an issue on the word " Allah" which is widely used by christians in Sabah and Sarawak for long time and all live in harmony as the gentlement have said until UMNO politicise the word 'Allah" so as to gain malay/muslim support and to show its political strength.

Of coz the other gentlement would not have heard his Catholic friends use the word "Allah" becoz he is in Peninsular Malaysia and more than 90% of service are conducted in English. Ask this gentlement to go Sabah and Sarawak, immediately he will experience the word "Allah" being use by Sabahan and Sarawakian natives.

UMNO/BN government preach what they want the rakyat to know to achieve its goals and censored infomation that does not help them. UMNO/BN had blatantly politicise the word " Allah" and place Malaysian harmony in jeapardy.

Currently, statements were made by politician who are no expert of a religious issue. UMNO/BN as a responsible government must stop further statements being issued. Quickly get an interfaith dialogue underway and leave this issue to the expert.

Dialogue must be transparent and OPEN. No arm twisting behind close doors.

Aiyo..! next time don't bother to interview,sorry folks when we say that English is important,you say no need. Now we have Malaysians on foreign aired news with the inability to be fluent in English but also the inability to be diversed when answering the question..And infact the questions were made simple and direct,as probably it was already understood that the Malaysians are so rural in the English Language..!

People,if the attitude of the Malays is that if the system calls for more English in the Education for Malaysians,it would mean changing their identity..What was that figure again that states the percentage of non-malays in tha country in oppose to Malays? With non-Malays making up less percentage compared to Malays,even then they worry that the non-Malays will rob them of quota and positions..60% percent Malays,the probability to produce more able Malays would be higher than 40% non-malays..
And so with more Malays in the population how do they feel insecure and what is the need to constantly emphasis their rights and the manner is always in such aggression...So do you think they will allow the Catholic Herald to have it's way when to the Malays it will lead to confusion etc and not forgetting the exclusive Malay rights...

Some comments that say all their life none of their catholic friends used Allah, yes very true. But in Sabah and Sarawak the word Allah have been used by everyone for over 50 years. Only Malaya Muslims have problem with this. How do I know? I am Sabahan and I have relatives who are Muslim and Christian and Pagan. I am not talking about far away relatives, 1st cousin, uncle, aunty on both side of family.

Typical of Malayan Muslim, they are very fanatic compared to Sabahan and Sarawakian Muslims.

The question that everyone should ask is, WHO caused this to happened? Who have power to do the following.

1. Get the Malaysian court to rule that Allah can be used by all
2. Pretend to fight so that Allah will be used exclusively by Muslim
3. Get the Malaysian court to rule that Allah can only be used exclusively by Muslim

Who can determine the result of Malaysian court of law?
