Malaysian Economy Outlook in 2009

Monday, 29 December 2008
If we Malaysians think that the last couple of months are bad, think harder. It is going to be worse next year. Why the bad tidings during this day of cheer, after all it is Christmas? Well, bad news is not going to wait for anyone or for any occasion.

I am a Malaysian, period

Monday, 29 December 2008
Although from the Chinese race, I consider and call myself a Malaysian. Born and bred in this nation of ours where three major races cohabitate together with the natives and other minority races, Malaysia is a potpourri of different ethnicity, creed and culture. The rights to religion, use of mother tongue and way of life as enshrined in the Constitution allow us the basic human rights afforded all citizens of this quasi-democratic country.

The Grumbling Chinese Analysed

Monday, 29 December 2008
RPK was too kind. His complaints were limited to the constant grumbling of the Chinese. In some cases (especially in housing), it is necessary to destroy to rebuild. The constant grumbling of the Chinese is not constructive in Malaysian conditions, although it might work in the west. I think an economically based analysis of the Chinese condition is needed and this is what I offer.

‘The Samy-Go-Round’ Ride: Religious Oppression in Terengganu?

Monday, 29 December 2008 adminK

“Clear the air.” So says Samy Vellu to Anwar Ibrahim, about the latter’s stand on the hudud issue. Short of doing so, the opposition would supposedly ‘risk massive protest, especially from the Indian community.’

Why some Government Officers become corrupt

by R. Ganesh

I was utterly shocked when I read today’s NST dated 2008/12/27, article entitled “ACA officers feel ‘demoralised’ over new salary scale”. In the article, it was stated that Grade 29 officers would be offered a basic salary of RM1,482.85 and RM3,246.48 when they reached the top of the scale. “The maximum year between the basic salary and top of the scale is 22 years while the yearly increase is only RM80.17.”

They want to divide us, rule over us and steal from us

Monday, 29 December 2008 adminK

This division is a classic case of divide and rule. It was applied by the colonial administrators of the 19th- and 20th-century Malaya in order to keep the locals easier to manage. Barisan Nasional with its racial-based political parties continued to practise the same policy to much success until recently. Now, here we are witnessing yet another group trying to do the same thing all over again.
