Tengku Mukhriz ascended to the throne of Negeri Sembilan as the 11th Yam Tuan. Malaysia Insider (MI) put up a complimentary posting of Tengku Naquiyuddin yesterday with the usual spin and twisted fact. Did Singapore 'spy', Brendan Pereira backed the wrong horse for the throne and its face saving time?

In the selection of the Yam Tuan, people-elected Menteri Besar, Dato Mohd Hassan has no business to advise. He was believed to receive a tongue lashing for minding the affair of the Undangs.

Few months ago, MI reported an after nightclub skirmishes between the Tengku Nadzimuddin, son of Tengku Naqiyuddin's sister, Tengku Dara Naqiah and the Raja Muda of Johor, Tunku Ismail Ibrahim. The report was a veiled threat to blackmail the Johor Royal household to pay up or get shamed by a lawsuit. Interestingly, MI was lavishly using quotes from a Singapore Times report. Brendan or Kalimullah's hands assisting this royal blackmail is obvious.

Thank you for the kind wishes, cahaya. Also, many thanks for referring me to the nice article. I am sure Sultan Muhriz will make a good King, and it has been a long wait for him.

ylcc, Happy New Year to you! Yesterday read a blog article by The Ancient Mariner (Capt.Yusof Ahmad) “New Yam Tuan”, 30 Dec.2008. The Capt. shares his personal insights as ‘orang Nogori’ who went to the same primary school as Tengku Muhriz. http://cyusof.b******t.com/

Thank you, agadam magadam, for your maturity, and understanding towards others. That is what I want to hear. We should leave things be, no need to run the others down, and we do not need to know about their private lives. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Thambidoorai, long time no hear! How are you? I really don't mind the journalists fighting amongst themselves. Does not concern me really. Don't know who this Brendan is anyway ... just that I am a bit suspicious of any article that has to do with Rocky Bru. I would take it with a pinch of salt. If they want to fight, just offer them boxing gloves. No need to drag the royal families into their row!

What I am more concerned is that Tengku Ja'afar has been laid to rest, so let it be. As "agadam magadam" said, just close the chapter and move on. The NS royal family has been bereaved of a loved one, they are grieving, and they are hurt enough. Let's not hit out at someone who is down. It is just not kind, especially when the writer mentioned that Tengku Ja'afar's mother was a commoner. What is wrong with me and you? We are commoners too, no? That is the credit I give to the NS royal family. They mix freely with the commoners. I come from a poor family, we are Chinese, and yet the princess was very kind to my sister.

Dear Thambidoorai, a very Happy New Year to you and your loved ones (I am having a bottle of champagne ready!!). Hope 2009 will bring a better situation for everyone .... with all "MT" readers being friends, regardless of race! I say this with apologies to anyone whom I have unintentionally hurt .... Cheers ...

Hi, ylcc!

Happy 2009 to you and your loved ones!

Anyway, I don't know what exactly the writer's beef with Brendan Pereira is, but it is clear that he wanted to hammer Brendan Pereira.

Incidently, I can vouch personally that Brendan Pereira IS a plagiarist.

Wanna know why? Because he lifted essay, in-toto, before my very eyes!

Let me tell you how it happened, it was quite absurd actually:

20 years ago (or thereabout) Brendan was applying for his first job with the Singapore New Paper. He was required to submit some of HIS own pieces for perusal as part of his application, and what did Brendan do? He collected some publications, sifted through them ans started copying selected pieces...one of the selected article was mind (published anonymously). And he did this in front of me and another friend. He, until today, did not know that as i did not say anything then.

As they say, what goes around comes around...we are now scattered around the world, and now 20 years after, this thing comes back to hit him on an internet blogsite.

I am only revealing this now because it seems others too have reasons to call him a plagiarist.

If Brendan (or his friends) is reading this, let me help him recall the incident: Chellapa was there.

Cheers! and Happy 2009 to one and all!!!

Tengku Mukhriz is already on the throne... Tahniah..

No, Good will come out of it... Human nature..- Waiting to 'bash' others for no rhyme or reason... Go look y0ourselves in the mirror first....to all those bad mouths...... LET THIS REST NOW....PERIOD...

Hello dragonheart ... obviously I should have written my comments in Malay. It would have been better understood by you then. That was exactly what I meant ... as far as I am concerned, I have not commented anything on the royal families other than what is well known among the people about the past history of the Johor royalty (pse note that I have not mentioned any incident!!). I am sure you yourself do not live in the royal household, and don't know what is going on behind closed doors!! I can tell you that the Negri Sembilan prince and princess were staying at the Johor Istana during the 50s when they were studying there. My sister was a good friend/classmate of Tengku Mushina, and she used to visit the Johor palace/stable with the princess! At least I know something that you don't know!

To me, "Rocky Bru" is UMNO biased. I have no respect for him. So I have no idea what this article is trying to prove ... on the contrary, don't you agree that this article is hurting the royal families more? Please don't tell me you approve of of this article?

Happy New Year, my friend!!

...I won't say that I am that proud of the royal family's past history, but I would still hold my tongue and respect the royalties (better than the Malays say that we non-Muslims do not respect the Sultans!).

My advice to you then is not to comment at all... Silence is Golden..rather than you speak words which hurt others more than what u denied and what you don't know..

I wonder who the writer is? I have looked at the picture held by the person, and it says "Jeff & Ahirudin". Isn't Ahirudin "Rocky Bru"? From the way it is written, it seems as though the writer has something against Tunku Ja'afar and his family. Who are we to say anything, unless we know the internal politics of the two waring royalties. The two royalties were on good terms when the fist Agong was still alive!
I would hate it if anyone were to wash my family's "dirty linen/politics" in public, and since Tenku Mukriz is already the Sultan, I feel we should just let Tunku Ja'afar rest in peace. I am from Johor too, and I won't say that I am that proud of the royal family's past history, but I would still hold my tongue and respect the royalties (better than the Malays say that we non-Muslims do not respect the Sultans!).

Tengku Mukriz is no longer the 18 yr old when his father died, and now he is just taking his rightful place. Congratulations to the new Sultan. Everyone should be gracious and accept/respect this wise decision.

Story of the son of a thief that stole someone else's title?

No wonder he wanted immunity. Imagine what else he will steal for his family with that immunity.
