We are quite satisfied with what we have achieved in Kelantan. PAS has ruled for 20 years and we have not had a single corruption charge. In Selangor, given the on-ground realities, we have done well. We have hiccups, but there is ongoing communication.

By Beh Kay Hieng, Free Malaysia Today

Stepping into 2010, the challenges for PAS as a party and Pakatan Rakyat as a coalition (of PAS, DAP, PKR) are clear cut.

Both, essentially, must convince the people of their capability, sincerity and commitment to continuity, with or without the leadership of  Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, whose future will be decided next month by the Malaysian courts.

“The Common Policy Platform (CPP) was our proudest moment, the biggest achievement to date. It made us sit down to discuss the agenda as friends with a common intention,” said PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub in reference to PR’s common agenda for the three parties to push forward for a new Malaysia in their bid to end Barisan Nasional’s hold on Putrajaya.

“The 2010 priority will be to strengthen this coalition,” Salahuddin told FMT.

At any other point in history this would not have been possible, he said.  But the 2008 political tsunami, the capture of five states and the subsequent  constitutional crisis, judicial mayhem and the endless sneaky plots to topple the coalition had lent to an unlikely liaison an added value called “working together,” he added.

“People must realise that as a coalition, we are still infants in this game. We are yet to reach two years. Umno-BN has been around for 50 years. I am not giving excuses, just saying that we are learning,  and rapidly too.”
He claimed there was wide public acceptance and appreciation of PR administrations in Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor and Penang.

Rhetoric aside,  the most daunting task for the coalition partners is explaining to the rakyat  their stand on the issues of  Islam, local council elections, the performance of PR states and the court cases against Anwar. FMT put these questions to Salahuddin and PKR deputy president Dr Syed Husin Ali.

May the new year 2010 brings many more heart warming achievements to Pakatan Rakyat.....

Be courageous and be patience, take each and every step closer to Putrajaya!!!!!!

Do not be discouraged or dismay at how UMNO/BN will continue to do, to distract and to destroy what PR sets out to do. We, rakyat Malaysia will be the judge. We are not blind and certainly not fool.

Come next general election, we will show UMNO/BN the EXIT door!!!!!!!!!!!

We just can't continued to demand too much...they pakatan ...have to much thing to think in their hands now.... apart from instantly attacking from EVIL UMNO! The point is that each and everyone of us must work together in order to bring down that evil demon umno for goods!

The pakatan states must show transparency on their states accounts. So far I have not seen any information as to how much money each state has received and where this money has gone. Only when this happens will the rakyat’s scepticism that Pakatan is not going to be as corrupt as BN will be quenched.

And, so, we the rakyat who have put our faith in the PR wait.
What was spoken by Salahhudin, is very reassuring.
But, we had seen how PAS seem insensitive to the wishes of the rakyat who support the PR cause, thus giving fodder to the MSM, to show how ineffectual the PR is.
Let's hope with this CPP , the end is near for the UMNOputras!!

Syabas brother Salahuddin. If we as Malaysians are sincere, honest and truthful to each other, then I believe our nation still got hope to grow to where it should belong.

PR with opportunity at hand now must transform to be a truly viable alternative ruling party for Malaysian! This should be even be expense of losing seats or even a State if it is meant to remove state assemblyman or parliamentarian who cannot toe the line. Rakyat will full appreciate, respect and vote for party that has political will to change. As it is, for BN despite their plan for transformation, there is no political will to do it. eg: free country of corruption, weed out racialist etc. They seems to be only trying to hold on to ruling power by with holding funds from PR rules states, using the forces to try destablise PR govt, channeling more funds to supporting states (this more of national corruption loh). So PR need to be serious in wanting to rule country in proffessional, fair and righteous manner!

Each and every party in the Pakatan Rakyat should just control their leaders who have racists tendencies so that the Pakatan machinery can run well. This is the only way for Malaysia to regain her long lost glories.
If not, this peaceful country will go to the dogs.
