As human beings, it is never easy to erase the pain from memory but it does not take super human effort to forgive. After all, Islam as well as other religion and teachings encourage the faithfuls to be forgiving.

Sometime in August 1945, a village head in a remote settlement outside the sleepy town of Air Hitam was ‘persuaded’ to attend a meeting with PKM personnel in an unknown location. That was the last time he was seen by his family.

Earlier in the week, he was advised by the Chinese villagers to leave the village, albeit temporarily because there were rumours CHIN PENG - FORGIVE AND FORGET the communists were after him. Being a ‘Banjarese’ who migrated to Malaya in the early thirties, and having fought the Dutch colonialists in Kalimantan, Indonesia, he was adamant to stand his ground and overcome adversities, come what may. Little did he know that there were Malays and Banjarese in the communist camp.

Many ‘Banjarese’ of yesteryears were well known for their bravery as well as in depth spiritual knowledge and fighting skill. The exploits of ‘panglima’ Salih and Ijam in Muar/Batu Pahat and HJ Bakri and his men in Sungai Manik are testimonies of their saga.

Without the help of the Malays/Banjarese, the communists would not have been able to inflict injuries much less the premature demise of this village head.

That village head is naib Hassan bin Abu Bakar, the scribe’s grandfather.

Totally agree..."CHIN PENG COULD HAVE JUST WALK THROUGH OUR POROUS NORTHERN BORDER..."

If he does that, his name could not have been Chin Peng. A man of his courage will not succumb to such irrational move.

And read carefully what the writer wrote.

"...earlier in the week he was advised by the Chinese villagers to leave the village, albeit temporarily..."

What does that imply? Not all Chinese are communists. The majority of them were just ordinary human beings who love other humans irrespective of race and religion.

AND what do we all perceive from this..."little did he know that there were Malays and Banjarese in the communist camp"

Simply means that the communist did not belong to the Chinese. There were more prominent MALAY COMMUNIST leaders compared to the Chinese and many, if not all of them have returned and died in their respective place of birth.

We cannot deny that Ong Boon Hwa @ Chin Peng is a hero during the WW2.
If he is not a hero fighting the Japanese army in Malaya then how and why did the British award a gallant medal to Chin Peng?
His name is on the award list. The medal is for his credit for leading his CPM fighting the Japs.
Later on he fought the British !
This is also a heroic act.
How many Chinamen fought the Brits back then?
And later on he fought the Malaysian army and terrorize the kampungs.
Why he did that? Why CPM fights the Malayans?
Just because of different political ideologies.
Same as what we have today. We wanted a clean government and bn wanted a corrupted govt.
Chin Peng fought with bullets and grenades.
RPK fights with words and wisdom.
The ISA was specially designed for Chin Peng and the whole gang of CPM but RPK ,Guan Eng , Theresa and the non communist went in instead.

Let Chin Peng in , let him go home.
He gave peace to us and he kept his words.
We should let Bala and RPK come home too.(provided there is real justice )

I had a nephew Captain Shanmuganathan who was shot dead and an in-law Captain Sivagnanam(Home Guard)who lost an eye both of whom were ambushed while leading their men against the Communists
This also a reminder that the Indians also were prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for their beloved motherland Malaya(at that time)
Yet I say now keep your promise
Let him come back to die in the land he calls home
Let Chin Peng come home...

I am speechless ...... This person has a family member who has been victimised by the situation at that point of time.

A person who actually thinks outside the box towards the BIG PICTURE.

Yes, we should not forget but we should always try to forgive.

Chin Peng's cazse was a broken promise case. You see UMNO have a habit not to honor its promise even a written one. They even breached Terengganu oil royalty payment despite the teh contract had clearly stated Terengganu state right for such royalty.

So never trust UMNO when make a dealing.A bumiputra company learn a hard way.Its lost 238 millions worth of elction item sale when UMNO denied it had ordered them...

Chin Peng, is a hero during Malaya and his fighting against the British and the Japanese actually helped more for the nation to achieve independence fro the British than UMNO/MCA/MIC. Believe or not, unless for those UMNO Malay deniers who twist and turn the story of Chin Peng, Chin Peng is also the father of Malaya independence. Communist do not kill people,. They are robin hoods.

History will be created one day for generations to tell who Chin Peng.

How come it is not the same with this old man.,?

Chin Peng can just walk through our porous northern border or even bribe immigration officers and go to his beloved Sitiwan. Grow a beard, wear a wig and stay your golden years incognito in Sitiawan. There is no honour among the men who signed the peace agreement with you! So you are not going to get justice!
