Tell on Jho Low and clear your name, Khaled urges Najib

The Umno vice-president says the former prime minister should share any information he may have on the fugitive businessman with the authorities.

(FMT) – Former prime minister Najib Razak and his family have been urged to share any information they may have on controversial businessman Low Taek Jho in order to clear their reputation which has been tainted by the 1MDB controversy.

In a statement today, Umno vice-president Mohamed Khaled Nordin said it was the “responsibility” of the former Umno president and his family to share any information they might have on Low.

“It isn’t just the right thing to do. It will help to clear his reputation and that of his family which has been tainted by the scandal,” the former Johor menteri besar said.

Low, or Jho Low as he is commonly known, is among the central figures in the probe by US authorities into the scandal-plagued sovereign fund.

Low has been linked to Najib in the past although the former prime minister said in June that he was no longer in touch with the fugitive businessman.

Khaled said if Low was arrested, it would put an end to the 1MDB issue which had affected Umno. Low’s capture, he said would also allow the government to focus on other important issues.

“This is why it is critical for the government to increase its efforts to capture, return, question and try him in court so that Malaysians could finally learn the truth.”

The government, Khaled said, should not wait and hope for Low to surrender and come clean on his own accord.

Low’s whereabouts remain a mystery although there were reports that said he was probably in Macau.
