Guan Eng, the tokong of idiots

So there you have it. Lim Guan Eng made a mistake when he reported that the previous Barisan Nasional government stole RM17.911 billion of the GST refund money. (Actually he said the amount was RM18 billion). The amount that Barisan Nasional really stole was RM19.248 billion.

(The Star) – The previous amount that he revealed was not the actual total, owing a mistake by a ministry officer who misplaced a decimal point.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng has not only stood by his allegations that the previous government had falsified the Goods and Services Tax (GST) credit refund, but claims that the missing amount was even larger than he had declared in Parliament last week.

“The actual amount of shortfall in the fund for unpaid GST input tax is RM19.248 billion, and not RM17.911 billion, which I had reported to the House last week,” Lim said in Parliament today.

I am not sure whether Guan Eng’s maths is bad or his English is bad. If the figure of RM17.911 billion was a mistake due to the decimal point being in the wrong place, then the correct figure should be RM1.7911 billion, or RM179.11 billion, or RM0.17911 billion, or RM1,791.1 billion, or something like that. How come RM17.911 billion with the right decimal point changes to RM19.248 billion?

Kalau nak tembak pun biarlah logik sikit.

I suppose Guan Eng follows the example of his boss, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Mahathir said you only pay SST when you spend money but GST has to be paid even if you do not spend money

Mahathir said the SST is better than the GST because with the SST you only need to pay the tax when you spend your money. If you do not spend your money then you do not pay any SST.

“The 10% for sales tax is only applicable if you purchase. If you don’t purchase, you don’t pay; whereas GST is a tax at source, so whether you buy or not, everything will go up in price,” Mahathir told the reporters after the official opening of the 14th Parliament meeting on 17th July 2018.

That is the same as saying with the GST you need to pay 6% tax even if you do not spend any money.

Guan Eng and Mahathir are competing with each other for the Moron of the Year Award. The judges are going to face a tough time to decide the winner.
