PKR’s Xavier Jayakumar cakap Tamil

Dr Xavier reminded Lokman Adam of the time when he was detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) in April 2001 and how PKR had helped him during those troubled times. Actually, ten people were detained in total, I included, and the person who detained us was PKR’s new boss, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. So Dr Xavier should be reminding Mahathir and not us about that April 2001 travesty of justice.

Jayakumar reminds ‘ungrateful’ Lokman of his ISA arrest

(FMT) – Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Xavier Jayakumar today reminded Umno’s Lokman Noor Adam of his roots in PKR.

The PKR vice-president also reminded the Umno Supreme Council member of the time when he was detained under the now-defunct Internal Security Act (ISA) in 2001 and how PKR had helped him during those troubled times.

“I have known him since 1998, even before the Reformasi days, when he was with us.

“He has forgotten who helped him when he was in deep trouble in 1998, when he was caught under ISA and how we took care of him,” he told a press conference in Putrajaya this morning.

Lokman and several others, including PKR vice-president Tian Chua, were arrested for allegedly plotting to topple the government through violent means. This was during Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s first tenure as prime minister.

They were also accused of having procured weapons such as hand grenades and rocket launchers.

Lokman, a former PKR member, is now contesting as the BN candidate for the Aug 4 Sungai Kandis by-election in Selangor.

Lokman, in a recent Facebook posting, had questioned why an “LGBT” (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual) dance was allegedly performed at a fundraiser for Tabung Harapan.

Jayakumar, the Kuala Langat MP, questioned how such an allegation would assist Lokman in his by-election campaign.

“It shows clearly that Umno has lost in terms of issues to put forward. They are instead playing with issues of race, religion and now LGBT.”

Lokman will be facing PKR’s Zawawi Ahmad Mughni, a religious teacher, and independent candidate K Murthi.

The seat became vacant after the death of its former assemblyman, Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei, from PKR.
