Daim was behind the confiscation of the ‘RM1 billion’ cash and valuables

Daim knows that the RM1 billion, or whatever, seized valuables will not even be tendered as evidence during the trial. But that does not matter because the trial is not what Daim is concerned about. Daim’s concern is to keep the people focused on Najib rather on the 100 days and the promises that Pakatan Harapan is not able to deliver.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Daim wanted the ‘RM1 billion’ raid as a shock-and-awe exercise to distract Malaysians from Pakatan’s 100 days promise

According to a deep throat in Bukit Aman, Daim Zainuddin was the brains behind the raids on Najib Tun Razak’s residence and other properties said to be ‘linked’ to Najib.

The Attorney-General had actually advised that raiding these properties and confiscating whatever assets they find there will not help the case because they still need to prove that whatever has been confiscated was bought with stolen money. And in this case, they will never be able to do that.

Daim, however, still wanted the show to go on because they needed this public display in the trial-by-media strategy they had adopted. And the police were told to inform the media in advance of the raids so that as many reporters as possible would be there.

Daim also told the police to place a value of RM1 billion on the seized valuables because anything short of billions will not shock and awe the public. Basically, this was a shock-and-awe exercise.

The raid was just a show to keep Malaysians entertained and focused on the Najib issue and not on Pakatan’s problems

This is no different from the tilam song-and-dance during Anwar Ibrahim’s sodomy trial in 1998. In the end, the tilam quietly disappeared and was never tendered as evidence during the trial but that tilam is still remembered until today 20 years later.

By the way, do you know that Justice Richard Malanjum was one of the Court of Appeal judges who upheld Anwar’s sodomy conviction? And now he is going to be the new Chief Justice of Malaysia. Is that not an irony?
