Najib’s former aide remanded in 1MDB probe


(The Star) – A former special officer to ex-prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has been remanded over investigations into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim granted an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s prosecutors on Monday (June 25) to remand the 42-year-old Datuk for seven days until July 1.

The man was brought to the court at 9.15am, handcuffed and clad in the MACC orange lockup attire.

He was arrested at the MACC headquarters around 9.45pm on Sunday (June 24) where he was earlier called to have his statement recorded.

He had served with Bank Negara prior to being appointed as a special officer to Najib in 2009. He resigned from the post on June 5, according to Bernama.
