Azmin didn’t have PH’s blessing to be MB, says Ijok rep

Dr Idris Ahmad says his name was originally submitted for the post of Selangor MB but Azmin Ali was appointed to the position instead.

(FMT) – Ijok assemblyman Dr Idris Ahmad today claimed that Mohamed Azmin Ali’s candidature as Selangor menteri besar was not endorsed by Pakatan Harapan (PH) parties after the 14th general election.

Idris told a press conference at his house today that his name had been submitted to the Selangor sultan and that he had the blessings of all the component parties in PH.

“Only one name was suggested, and that was my name. My name had the blessings of all parties in PH and was sent to the sultan of Selangor.

“PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail sent the letter to the sultan.”

Idris said, however, that Azmin was appointed as menteri besar even though he did not have the endorsement of PH parties.

“He just went there (the palace) on his own,” he added.

Idris was earlier mentioned as a possible candidate to replace Azmin as menteri besar. However, Sungai Tua assemblyman Amirudin Shari was sworn in this morning as the new Selangor menteri besar.

Yesterday, Azmin said he had met Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to inform the ruler of his replacement.

Idris said he was told that the sultan had wanted three names to choose from. Three names were subsequently submitted – that of Amirudin, Seri Setia assemblyman Shaharuddin Badaruddin and himself.

He said as far as he knew, he was the only candidate endorsed by all the parties. “I have support from all parties but Amirudin only has support from Azmin.

“I also don’t know why they had to be so secretive. The name should have been announced on Sunday as the rehearsal was on Monday,” he said.

He also said neither he nor other assemblymen had received invitations for the swearing in of Amirudin.

He said he would still cooperate with the new menteri besar as he was not “desperate” for the post.

However, he added that he felt sad over the matter.

“Every human being has feelings. But I will adopt positive thinking as life goes on. I can still serve my constituency.”
