Umno, JMM leaders want MACC to probe Mahathir’s past

(The Sun Daily) – Umno leader Datuk Lokman Adam and Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) president Datuk Azwanddin Hamzah arrived at MACC headquarters here today with close to 50 of his supporters urging MACC to reinvestigate reports made against Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for allegedly abusing his power during his previous stint as premier.

Lokman who spoke to the media after giving his statement said he asked the MACC to open these investigation papers again.

“Some of these reports were made by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah, Lim Guan Eng and many others against Mahathir during his first stint as prime minister,” he said.

He hoped that MACC under its new leadership will be just and fair in investigating the cases brought against Mahathir.

Among the cases he urged them to relook are Mahathir’s involvement in the Perwaja Steel scandal, the Bumiputra finance scandal and PKR president Rafizi Ramli’s allegations that Mahathir was into bribery, to name a few.

“We ask them to open up these investigations again and conduct a fair investigation,” he said.

Lokman added that he filed a police report against MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull for statements he made during his tell all press conference on Tuesday.

“Shukri alleged that he was approached and offered bribes by an MP, we want him to name the MP,” he said at the MACC headquarters here after filing his report.

He said that as an MACC chief at that time, Shukri could have investigated this MP but he did no such thing.

He also said some of Shukri’s statements were subjudice as it conflicted with his investigations into 1MDB.
