MACC seized RM500k from me, not RM500mil, says Abdul Azeez

(The Star) – Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim (pic) has lauded the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for their professionalism when they visited his residence in Subang.

The Umno Supreme Council member said the word “raided” was not really accurate as it was more of a visit to his house and Abdul Azeez even prayed together with the officers after breaking fast on Tuesday (May 22) evening.

Abdul Azeez also debunked the rumours circulating on social media that the MACC seized RM500mil from him.

“They only took RM500,000 and that was from my Baling Umno allocation and about seven pieces of my wife’s jewellery.

He added that the MACC also visited his house and office in Baling, Kedah. The MACC seized RM100,000 from his house in Baling and RM400,000 from his house in Subang.

Abdul Azeez, who is also Baling MP, said the money was meant for expenses for breaking fast events to be held in Baling and for quite a number of Umno meetings.

He said while he did not know what he was being investigated for, the MACC officers who went to his house told him that they were instructed them to visit and check his house.

“Whatever it is, I will extend my fullest cooperation. I am an MP. I won’t run away,” said Abdul Azeez.
